THE six-man kidnap syndicate, which abducted Mrs. Okpa Izobo Omene (nee Udjor), the 102 –year-old mother of the Ovie of Mosogar kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty, Samson Okirhobo Moyin Omene, Udurhie I, last Tuesday, threatened to kill her, yesterday, if the family does not come up with N32 million ransom.
Former chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, who is a son of the woman, Chief Wilson Omene, told Sunday Vanguard on phone that the kidnappers, who first demanded N150 million ransom, reduced it to N32 million when they called the family, yesterday.
He said, “They called me today (Saturday) threatening that they would kill her if we failed to pay N32 million ransom. They started with N150 million, brought it down to N100 million and later, N70 million”.
A reliable source said the family had resolved not to pay ransom to the kidnappers and that Omene spoke tough to the kidnappers, telling them that his mother was already 102 years old and there was nothing they would gain if they killed her.
It was, however, learnt that the Omene family was smelling a rat in the entire episode, as some negotiators had already fleeced N100,000 from the monarch for the release of their matriarch, only to come back to ask for another N400, 000, claiming that their boss in Warri asked for the sum before the kidnappers would play ball.
A member of the family said, “We are suspecting some politicians in our area. The negotiators said they were sent by a politician to help us secure the release of our mother. Meanwhile, a politician, now in police net over the kidnap of my mother, facilitated the release of two suspected members of the gang, who were caught by villagers at Ugbomoya on Monday during a reconnaissance of my mother’s residence”.
One of the suspects later escaped, but the one in police custody with the politician has reportedly confessed his role in another attempted kidnap case after police analyzed the call logs in the phone he left in the car of the victim.

Lady GaGa Topless Android for L’Uomo Vogue

Lady Gaga ended up tearing off her top during the photo shoot which features in the ‘Big Ones’ 2012 edition of L’Uomo Vogue. The wild New Yorker didn’t want to produce a standard fashion spread for a glossy magazine. Boring. That’s not how she rolls. So she decided to play by her own rules.
She was modeling an Yves Saint Laurent jacket, Chanel trousers and a Philip Treacy hat when all hell broke loose. The Born This Way singer suddenly decided she wanted to show some flesh. She ripped off her YSL – and it was all caught on camera.
That’s why she’s the master of shock value. Take a situation and turn it on it’s head. Guaranteed publicity and a few more records sold.

But trouble was said to have started when three of them allegedly stole empty drums and handed them to Ebibofa to sell and bring the proceeds for sharing.

How Messi, Barca team-mates sent ‘secret’ signals to Syrian rebels

Barcelona’s footballing superstars sent secret signals to Syria’s gun-smuggling rebels during a match, the beleaguered nation’s state TV has astonishingly claimed.Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Pedro were said to reveal the best way to bring arms into Syria during an El Clásico encounter against Real Madrid.
In the outrageous Addounia channel footage World Cup winning midfielder Iniesta is said to portray the first part of the route, when arms are loaded from Lebanon.
He passes to Messi who dribbles around several of the European Champions arch-rival’s stars before setting up a goal for Pedro.
His run, it is claimed, can be deciphered as a secret code used by rebels who can then draw a route into Syria by tracking the direction of the dribbles, passes and shot.
The running commentary says, ‘Here we see the first stage where arms are loaded from Lebanon.
‘Then they pass through Homs and are delivered to another terrorist. We also see how they warn that they will face some obstacles until they reach Dayr Al Zawr.
‘Then they are transported by bus to the final destination, located in Al Magadin.’
The staggering allegation is believed by some to be an elaborate hoax, while others see it as government propaganda.
Still more think the crazy claims about the European Champions, sponsored by Qatar Foundation, were produced by the rebels in a bid to make dictator Bashar Assad look foolish.Professor Mark Almond, of Oxford University, told the Sun: ‘If I were a Syrian rebel, or someone sympathetic to them, I might make such a video to show the world how silly the Assad regime is.’
The astonishing claims came as fresh violence erupted outside the capital Damascus, and in two of its suburbs, Hasrata and Irbin, and in the south, and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon said the ‘extremely dangerous’ conflict could have global repercussions.
The uprising that began a year ago has transformed into an armed insurgency that is pushing the country closer to a civil war.
Because of Syria’s close alliances with Iran and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, there are deep concerns that the violence could spread beyond its borders, especially if other nations arm the rebels or send in their own troops.
Ban said: ‘We do not know how events will unfold. But we do know that we all have a responsibility to work for a resolution of this profound and extremely dangerous crisis.
‘A crisis that has potentially massive repercussions for the region and the world.’
The rebel Free Syrian Army, which includes thousands of army defectors, is the most potent armed group challenging the regime. But the group is outgunned and disorganised.
Still, few countries are even considering arming the opposition, out of fear that it would make the conflict worse.
The UN estimates that more than 8,000 people have been killed since the uprising began.
On Tuesday, Syrian soldiers backed by tanks seized the eastern city of Deir el-Zour from rebels, the latest opposition stronghold to fall to an offensive by the better equipped Syrian military.
Activist Osama Mansour said government troops and armoured cars entered the city about 60miles from the Iraqi border from four sides, sparking short gunbattles with fighters from the Free Syrian Army.
Mansour, reached by telephone in Deir el-Zour, said the rebels quit fighting and took shelter in homes and apartments, fearing that protracted clashes would destroy the city.
Taking back rebel-held cities in the past weeks, government troops have often heavily shelled neighbourhoods before sending in troops, killing civilians and damaging buildings.
‘They knew they could not hold control of the neighbourhoods, so they decided to stop fighting, knowing that the regime would bring in heavy weapons and kill many civilians,’ Mansour said.
He added that the rebels also lacked guns and ammunition.

WAR IN NOLLYWOOD, Tonto Dikeh Publicly Fights Susan Peters Dirty

Another new fight has been added to the already many dirty fights in Nollywood between actresses.
Over the years, Nollywood actresses have had bitter fights between each other over various causes ranging from men, ego, intimidation, etc.
The latest in that line of hot fight, which may explode if care is not taken is between controversy-happy actress, Tonto Dikeh and new-entrant in controversy business, Susan Peters.
According to the latest development sniffed by 3.m360 which the genesis of is still very cloudy, both Tonto and Susan Peters made their fight public.
Susan Peters talked about her anger to Tonto when she said, "I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction too. Bullsh*t."
In a quick response to Susan Peters, Tonto said, "next time, I will snap all ma [BB] Porsche phones and send to you. That would be super cool. I will look for a new way to irritate you baby."
The question now is, what could have made Tonto Dikeh be sarcastic in her response to Susan Peters? What could have caused the fight between Tonto and Susan Peters?
Would it have been an earlier message from Susan Peters when she wrote, "we are not in the same class. We are not even on the same flight?"
Rihanna Has Been Dating Ashton Kutcher For 2 Months!

Rihanna – who was spotted leaving Ashton Kutcher’s Hollywood home in the early hours of Wednesday morning (21.03.12) after a booty call – is said to be smitten with Ashton after meeting him at a party of a mutual friend in December.
And friends says she is so taken with Ashton – who split from wife Demi Moore in November after he allegedly cheated on her – she is considering joining his Kabbalah group.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The flirting began as soon as Rihanna and Ashton met and swapped numbers. That moved on to texts and arranging to meet. They snuck off to a Santa Monica hotel a few weeks ago. They are two single people having a fling, so thought it would be best to meet in secret. Rihanna has told friends he’s funny and cute. Both of them love a good time and think they’re too busy for anything serious just yet. She’s starting to enquire about Kabbalah sessions with his rabbi.
“She is curious about Kabbalah so has started asking questions. She’s open to new things and has always been a very spiritual girl. If she and Ashton are getting really close, she wants to be able to understand it.”
Ashton, 34, is keen to keep the romance as secret as possible as he doesn’t want to upset Demi, who has recently completed a stint in rehab where she got treatment for exhaustion, substance abuse and an eating disorder.

Kim Kardashian Attacked on Red Carpet: Flour-Bombing Me ‘Is Not Acceptable’ (UPDATED)

Last night it seemed that Kim Kardashian had a fairly mild reaction to being "flour-bombed" on the red carpet. After a woman posing as a journalist dumped an entire bag of flour on Kim, the reality star brushed it off, literally and figuratively.
That probably is the craziest, unexpected, weird thing that's happened to me. Like I said to my makeup artist, I wanted more powder and that's a whole lot of translucent powder right there.
But today the reality of being violated by a cooking product must have sunk in, as Kim is now reconsidering filing a complaint. Perhaps she realized, as so many Twitter users pointed out, that dumping a bag of flour on Kim Kardashian looks like a pretty good time. Taking legal action may help prevent copycat flour-bombing crimes.
I said earlier no I wasn't [going to file a complaint]. I am just going to think about it, because I don't want someone to think they can really get away with that. So we are going to handle that.
Of course, what Kim is really upset about is that the flour-bombing incident took away from the charity event she was attending — well, OK, she was attending a launch of her new fragrance True Reflection, which benefits the organization Dress For Success.
Kim regrets that the underprivileged women attending the event "got the shine taken away from them a little bit." And that's why she keeps giving interviews about the flour-bombing instead of talking about the charity. Be sure to check out E! Online's latest coverage to find out how to get flour out of a dress most of us can't afford.
UPDATE:
3m360 reports that Kim Kardashian will indeed be pressing charges, and will call law enforcement at some point within the next few days.
According to our sources, Kim wants to send the message that people are entitled to their opinion, but should not resort to violence.
Man Climbs the New York Times Tower for a Newspaper

Man Scales the New York Times Tower for a Newspaper
Evidently unaware that you can get The New York Times on the street, an "emotionally disturbed" man attempted to climb up the side of the New York Times headquarters because he wanted a copy of the paper.
In the past, two climbers have made it to the roof of the building before getting arrested. This man didn't have quite that much stamina.
A police spokesman says the man got as far as the fifth floor, then came back down when officers told him to descend. He was not injured but was taken to Bellevue Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
Here's hoping they at least gave him a copy of The New York Times to read while he's under observation.
College Student Crushed To Death After Drunken Attacker Pushes Him Onto Train Tracks

Police are on the hunt for a man that pushed a 20-year-old New York college student onto the train tracks where he was crushed to death by an incoming train. Hit the jump for the full story.
– A 20-year-old college student is dead and another man is being sought by police after a late night altercation in the New York City subway turned deadly.
LaGuardia Community College student Joshua Basin, 20, died after an oncoming train pinned him between the tracks and the platform.
He was waiting at the Bedford Avenue stop in Brooklyn last night when he and another man got in a fight that spilled onto the tracks.
The Howard Beach, Queens resident got into a verbal argument with another man while riding a Manhattan-bound L train, police said.
He and the man, thought to be white and in his early 30s, exited the train at the trendy Bedford Ave stop. The man, wearing a black fleece, reportedly said, ‘It’s showtime.’
That’s when things got physical, witnesses said.
During the fight, both men fell onto the tracks as hundreds of horrified witnesses looked on.
Though the attacker – who is believed to have been drunk – managed to escape before the train came into the station, Mr Basin was not so lucky, and was hit by an oncoming train.

Russian Gay Activists Target Madonna concert

Gay activists have vowed to hold protests during Madonna's concerts in Russia after she defied a call to boycott Saint Petersburg over a new law banning "homosexual propaganda."Organisers of Russia's annual gay pride events said in a statement they planned to hold "two public protests during Madonna's August 7 concert in Moscow and August 9 concert in Saint Petersburg."
Saint Petersburg this month passed a controversial citywide law that fines those "promoting homosexuality" to minors and apparently equates it with paedophilia, even though homosexuality is not a crime in Russia.
Activists, who had earlier called on tourists to boycott the picturesque tsarist-era city, accused Madonna of hypocrisy after the star confirmed she would go ahead with her Saint Petersburg concert despite the "ridiculous" law.
A promoter of gay causes throughout her career and icon of its community, Madonna also promised to talk about it and condemn it on stage. But Russia's gay activists remained unimpressed.
"We intend to protest against the hypocrisy of pop stars," the head of the city's branch of Gay Russia movement Yury Gavrikov told AFP.
"In Russia, they have fantastic earnings, and this allows them to forget about the problems of human rights.""If people like Madonna boycott their concerts particularly in Saint Petersburg that could have economic consequences, and that is important, while declarations of support for gay rights at concerts mean nothing."
Russian-American journalist Masha Gessen had appealed to Madonna to pull out of the concerts in a Monday blog entry on the The New York Times' website.
But Madonna wrote Wednesday on Facebook: "I will come to St. Petersburg to speak up for the gay community, to support the gay community and to give strength and inspiration to anyone who is or feels oppressed.""I will speak during my show about this ridiculous atrocity."
Russia legalised homosexuality in 1993 after the fall of the Soviet Union but only ceased to class it as a mental disorder in 1999, and homophobic attitudes are still widespread.Police have roughly broken up attempts to hold gay pride events in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The authorities regularly refuse to sanction such protests, citing the public's negative attitude

Behold, the first all-diamond, diamond ring. sold for $70,million

From the Shawish website:
Shawish secured the copyright for the all-diamond ring one year ago in Geneva. It took one year to get the copyright and Shawish had to undergo multiple tests with the design to get the precision of the circle right using special laser equipment to cut directly into the diamond. The most important aspect is preserving the integrity of the diamond and of course the most difficult phase is precision cutting an entire stone into a ring. Shawish is now in search of the perfect hand to create the £43million, 150-carat masterpiece.
Apparently that hand has been found, because according to Styleite, the first one is now for sale for $70 million.
