Engaged couple Brad and Angie might work together again

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are officially engaged, and word has it they might end up working together on a future project as well.

Deadline is reporting that if negotiations pan out, Pitt could star in Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” with his long-time lady love being a rumored potential contender for the female lead.

The real-life partners and parents have not acted together since 2005’s action adventure “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” where they became friends on-set.

Oscar winner Javier Bardem is also reportedly close to signing on for the thriller.

Shooting is expected to begin this June.

The film — which also stars Michael Fassbender — is about an attorney who finds himself drawn to the seedy underworld of drug-dealing and related crime.

Pitt would play West Ray, a role for which Scott had originally considered Jeremy Renner, according to reports.

Khloe Kardashian shoots down miscarriage rumours

We’ve never known a Kardashian to be shy, so we wouldn’t really expect Khloe Kardashian to keep something like fertility treatments under wraps.

On Thursday, Mrs. Lamar Odom said as much on CBS’ “The Talk,” telling the hosts that while she’s not currently undergoing fertility treatments to get pregnant, if she were, she’d be open about it.

“I would share with the world,” the 27-year-old reality star said, indicating that some women need role models in the struggle to conceive. “It’s so hurtful and discouraging to women needing fertility treatments.”

She also shot down speculation that she recently had a miscarriage, adding that the time is just not right for her and Lamar Odom to become parents.

“With the trade – moving back and forth – there is a reason we don’t have a newborn baby right now,” Kardashian said, referring to Odom’s whirlwind trade from the L.A. Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks, and then his recent departure from the Mavs.

“Lamar and I do want kids, and it will happen when it’s in God’s plan to happen,” she concluded

Nate Dogg to show up at Coachella…as a hologram?

Although he passed away last spring, Nate Dogg might nonetheless make an appearance at Coachella this weekend.

TMZ reports that the rapper, who died at the age of 41, will “perform” at the music fest alongside headliners Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg as a hologram.

Dre and Snoop, who are scheduled to close out Coachella for the next two Sundays, will reportedly be accompanied on stage by Kurupt, Warren G and Daz Dillinger, and they didn’t want to leave Nate Dogg out.

The hologram technology will reportedly project the deceased rapper’s image onto the stage, making it seem as though he’s performing along with everyone else. TMZ cites anonymous sources who say Nate Dogg’s hologram will be on hand for several songs.

But before Dre and Snoop take the stage, the Black Keys will perform today with Radiohead headlining tomorrow’s lineup.

Remember, Coachella is pulling double duty this year, with its first festival playing this weekend and an identical, second set of shows launching the weekend of April 20.

Shattered dreams! How factory machine grounded casual worker’s varsity career

Twenty-year-old Mike Aghanenu had a tall dream. He aspired to become an engineer some day. Thus, after his secondary school education at Havanna College, Igando, Lagos State, in 2009  where he got the required results to further his studies, he wrote the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examination (JAMB), test  in 2010.

Unfortunately, he did not make the required marks. Determined to keep his dream alive, Mike decided to work for a while, with a view to saving towards his university education. Then, he got a job as a factory worker at Lebanese-owned Aliberti Company,  in Ikotun in 2010, where he was paid N12,000 monthly.

The dream of becoming a mechanical engineer became evident after he scored 240 marks in the just- released JAMB result where he chose University of Benin as first choice and Delta State University as second choice.

While he was preparing for the post-UME examination, tragedy struck at his workplace, last Tuesday and his dream was not only shattered but his entire life.

As at press time, the remains of Mike are lying in the morgue. Reason? He was sent to an unprepared grave during an industrial accident in his workplace.

His death, no doubt,  came as shock to his parents as they  are yet to come to terms with its reality. More painful is the fact that Mike was the first and  only son among two children.

Different versions of what killed him
No one could at first tell exactly what happened to the once bubbling  young man. Not even his parents could tell when Crime Guard called to find out the circumstances led to Mike’s demise.  There are different accounts  on how  he died. A version said he was trying to clear the gutter  in the company’s premises when he was electrocuted. Another version  said he was grinded by one of the machines at the factory.

It was against this backdrop that Crime Guard visited Aliberti Company on Wednesday to get the  true version. But the company’s spokesperson, who identified herself as Bimbo Okuneye was not forthcoming with the true picture.

Late Mike

Rather, she referred this reporter to the police, saying investigation into the circumstance that led to Mike’s demise was still on, an utterance that degenerated into a verbal confrontation between her and members of the bereaved family who were also at the company to ascertain the cause of their son’s death.

But for the intervention of the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ikotun, the situation would have turned violent. It took close to an hour before the company  brought a man who identified himself as the supervisor of the section Mike worked  and one who witnessed it all.

The supervisor, Mr Olotu Fredrick, explained that, “ Yesterday morning (Tuesday), when we  resumed, the late Mike started his machine. We have two machines ; one for grinding foam and the other for grinding fibre. I operate that of the foam while he operated that of the fibre which is easier.

“As work went  on, I discovered from the sound of one of the machines that something had stuck inside. I told them to stop the machine and when we opened it,  a nail was discovered inside.

“Immediately after that, Mike started using a hose to blow off the dust from the fibre machine when the incident occurred.”

Asked to explain how it happened, the supervisor narrated: “The machine he was working on has two switches  which must be put off  before blowing off the dust. But Mike only switched off one. I guessed  he mistook the silence from the  engine to mean that it was off, not knowing the other end was still on.

“As  he used the hose to blow off the dust from the machine, all of a sudden,  the brunches  of the machine threw him inside the grinder and immediately, I shouted at one of the workers to switch off the machine.”

At this point, the supervisor could not speak any further. Rather,  he tried to gesticulate, trying hard not to betray his emotions.

The machine as gathered, first caught Mike’s hand. The more he tried to remove it, the more the machine  kept chopping it until it got to his ribs and parts of his body, with blood spilling all over the place.  Crime Guard gathered that although the machine was put off,  it took a while before Mike could be brought out.

This was because the machine needed to be dismantled. However, when this was done, it was already late for Mike , who passed out , with an expression of shock on his face. He was reportedly rushed to a private hospital around the area where unfortunately , he was certified dead.

Family aggrieved
The bereaved family members have  registered their displeasure over what they described as display of  “an  uncultured manner” by management of the company in handling the issue. First, they claimed the company did not intimate  them of the tragic incident, wondering why  it had to deposit their son’s body at the morgue without  contacting them.

The family raised alarm over plans to sweep the case under the carpet as they claimed they were prevented from seeing the corpse of their son by some men in plain clothes who claimed to be policemen, as at Thursday. Their anger also bordered on the fact that Mike’s corpse  was deposited at the Isolo General Hospital mortuary, even when they kicked against the idea.

Crime Guard learnt that effort was being made as at Thursday  to transfer the corpse to another mortuary.
The bereaved father, Mr Festus, who just arrived the country, was at his wits end. When approached, he said,  “what do you want me to say? My only son and heir is gone! He was a level-headed boy who believed in hard work rather than delving into something that would drag the family’s name in the mud. He was everything you could think of in a good child.

“My anger is that the company never thought it wise to pay us a condolence visit, two days after the incident. They did not even deem it fit to inform us that  our son was dead. We heard it from another source. In fact, the news of his death reached us in the evening, whereas it occurred in the morning. Tell me, is it wise for me to have come to the company before I am told what happened to my son? I am heart-broken, I cannot talk much”, he said in an emotional-laden tone.

But the company maintained that they visited the bereaved family. Okuneye explained that they went there and met some people praying, a claim the family denied. It was later discovered that they did not  disclose their identities when they got there, apparently for fear of the unknown.

Again, the company said after the incident, the deceased’s next of-kin as indicated in his file was contacted, where the bearer informed them he was far-away in Delta State. But on how that was possible, the family wondered.

Okuneye, however, apologised on behalf of the company for its shortcoming after it became apparent that her utterances could have sparked off a renewed feud, assuring that the company would work  with the  family  to ensure that Mike was not only given a befitting burial but  meet some of the family’s conditions.

She said: “ As you can see, we did not work today because of the death of Mike. We are not happy that this has happened. It was  an accident which was never planned . And,  to put the record straight, this is the first time a thing like this is happening in this company, since its inception over 30 years ago.”

A police van was, however, stationed opposite  the company with armed policemen, to avert any likely protest that could turn violent

Day Majek Fashek causes commotion on Allen Avenue

Returnee reggae legend and guitarist, Majek Fashek may have at the peak of his career been regarded as one of Nigerian music icons who would not only elicit a standing ovation anywhere, but also would be jostled by fans  for his autograph.

But this was not the case on Easter Monday, when the Rain Maker was spotted along the highbrow Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos. Looking shabby, frail and very unkempt, the passersby wondered out loudly whether this was the same Majek Fashek who waltzed his way into the hearts of music fans in the late  80s and early 90s, with his debut album  “Prisoner of Conscience” containing the hit track ‘Send Down The Rain’ which he released in 1987.

While his disturbing outlook attracted  pity from those of his fans that recognised him, very few onlookers who could not believe their eyes murmured as well as  discussed in hush tones in respect of the failing  state of health of one of Africa’s greatest reggae artistes.

Majek Fashek (before and now)

Majek  was more of a shadow of his old self as he walked down the street of Allen, accompanied by a guy suspected to be one of his managers.

With his unkempt dreadlocks and worn out boots, the once  handsome and talented reggae icon was reduced to an object of mockery caused by his abuse of substance.

“I wouldn’t believe this is Majek Fashek, he’s looking sickly, shabby and unkempt.” muted one of the passersby. Another passersby added, “look at what he has done to himself, a great singer indeed.”

However, since his return from USA  last year, the reggae artiste’s outlook presents a different picture of  what his fans and lovers used to know of him.

Recently, it was rumoured that a group of fans were mobilizing to raise funds to facilitate the reggae artiste’s rehabilitation. Under the platform of Majek Fashek Help Drive, the group which is allegedly being coordinated by a staff of AIT wants  to check the musician into a rehabilitation centre in the country  all in the bid to set his career back on track.

The Rainmaker as he is fondly called has been a shadow of his old self after an alleged  long battle  with alcohol and drug addictions.  Nigerians must not allow Majek Fashek to die.

Jada Pinkett Smith on breakup rumors: Will and I know the truth

Jada Pinkett Smith has reiterated that she and husband Will Smith are not getting a divorce, and that any rumors to the contrary are “ridiculous.”

According to People magazine, the actress made these comments recently to French magazine Gala.

During the interview, the 40-year-old indicated that she and her 43-year-old action-star husband are “waiting peacefully for the storm to blow over” regarding ongoing speculation that they’re splitting up.

In fact, Pinkett Smith said, she and Will have often wondered why it was their marriage that was picked to come under attack in the media.

“I have no idea!” she reportedly said about the persistent divorce rumors, which began last August around the same time the then-”Hawthorne” star was accused of having an affair with co-star Marc Anthony, who had recently split from Jennifer Lopez.

“Every year, one celebrity couple is under the microscope,” she continued. “This year, unluckily, it’s us! I almost want to say that we should have been expecting it,” she said, adding, “Will and I know the truth.”

And just because a couple spends a lot of time apart, Pinkett Smith adds, does not mean their marriage is on the rocks.

“I travel a lot because of my work, just like Will does,” she said. “But our lifestyle hasn’t changed. Before we had the kids, we were already far away from each other quite often because of separate projects.”

And it seems as if the trend will continue.

Will is currently filming the new M. Night Shyamalan movie “After Earth” with their son, Jaden, and this summer Jada is expected to go out on the road with their singer daughter, Willow

Sharks will Attack a Supermarket and American Audiences in 'Bait 3D'

It’s been years since Bait 3D first blipped onto my radar – so long ago, in fact, that I was starting to wonder if I’d ever get to see it. The good news is that American audiences will finally get the opportunity to view this crazy-sounding Aussie import. The bad news is that it still doesn’t have an official release date.

THR reports that Anchor Bay has acquired the domestic rights to the film – which features shoppers trapped in an underground supermarket packed with killer sharks and a crazy murderer after a tsunami hits. Really, how could anyone not want to see a movie with this premise? It’s like the writers created the plot by chucking darts at a board – and every toss was a perfect bullseye of awesome.

Even better? The film was co-directed by Russell Mulcahy (along with Kimble Rendall) – the man who gave us not only the excellent killer pig film Razorback, but also the original Highlander. It’s like the stars are aligning or something…

Anchor Bay is excited about the project, with Executive VP of Acquisitions Kevin Kasha saying “Bait in 3D is the ultimate shark thrill ride that will make you think twice about getting back in the water.”

While we doubt it’s going to bump Jaws from its lofty perch as king of the killer shark movies, we’re still hoping Bait 3D turns out as cool and crazy as the premise sounds. We'll let you know when Anchor Bay announces an official release date -

Kaduna Bomb Blast: We lost more than 100 members – Okada riders

The national body of commercial motorcycle riders yesterday claimed that at least 100 of its members died in the Easter Sunday blast in Kaduna.

“Yesterday [Sunday] was a very dark day. This is because we lost our members and other innocent Nigerians. On the average, over 100 of our members lost their lives,” Secretary-General of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Nasir Mamman, told reporters in Kaduna on Monday adding that the association would call an emergency meeting to compile the statistics of members that died in the blast.

Corroborating the figure was the Kano Road, Kaduna, branch Chairman of the union, Danjuma Issa, who stated that most of the dead members of the riders association were burnt beyond recognition.

“It was an unfortunate incident, more so that it mostly affected our members. You can see that we are few here today. We are still mourning and searching for most of our members that we believe were killed in the blast.

“Families of some of our members have been trooping to various hospitals in the state to search for their loved ones. You cannot even identify some of the dead because they were burnt beyond recognition.”  Isaa said.

A Bomb laden Honda car with a lone occupant early Easter Sunday went off at the Junction/Sardauna Crescent area of Kaduna, killing mostly commercial motorcycle operators, fuel hawkers and passersby and also damaged about 60 houses within the vicinity.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Jingiri described the explosion as “massive”.

The spokesman for the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Abubakar Zakari Adamu, on Sunday stated that 36 persons, including the lone bomber were killed in the blast.

In an interview with Vanguard News, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police disputed SEMA’s figure saying that the figure was false.

“Official figure before me confirms that the death toll is 11. My officers went round the hospitals. We were given this figure by the hospitals, not hearsay.

“I am yet to get a contradictory figure from the Hospitals.” Jingiri said.

Meanwhile casualty figures from Sunday tragedy rose on Monday as three of the injured victims died at the Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital in the state capital.

Lindsay Lohan Nightclub Fight: Hotel Worker Claims She Fought With Female Customer

A worker at the Standard Hotel, home of the nightclub Smoke and Mirrors has come forward to claim that he not only saw Lindsay Lohan at the club the night of an alleged fight but that he actually had to break up the scuffle after it errupted.
In an L.A. County Sheriff’s incident report Marisa Dugas claims she went over to Lohan’s table to talk to a guy when Lohan pushed her and a fight erupted. Lohan for her part claims she was at home the entire night.

Now a hotel worker tells TMZ that Lindsay Lohan was definitely at Smoke And Mirrors on the night in question and that he watched the scene unfold. The hotel worker says Marisa sat down at a nearby table and was chatting it up with a guy in Lohan’s group when all of a sudden Lohan’s entourage began throwing ice at Marisa. Eventually the worker says Lohan became part of the problem and he had to break up the fight.

The hotel employee says the female was eventually escorted out of the club and cried hysterically, claiming that Lindsay Lohan hurt her, she then refused medical attention.

While no pictures have surfaced of Lohan at the club the night in question the man says there is footage at the back of the club that shows Lohan on video entering and leaving the club. At this  time the hotel is refusing to release that footage and the worker has given his statement to police.

The entire situation is being investigated by L.A. detectives and Lindsay Lohan’s people continue to adamantly deny the accusations.

Shooter of black Florida teen, charged with murder

A special prosecutor in Florida charged neighbourhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman with second-degree murder on Wednesday in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, a move protesters had demanded for weeks in a racially charged case that has riveted the United States.

Zimmerman, 28, who had been in hiding, arrived at Seminole County Jail under arrest after turning himself in. Officers escorted him from a black SUV to the jail with a jacket draped over his head. His new defence lawyer said he would plead not guilty and that a hearing to establish bail could come as soon as Thursday.

Special prosecutor Angela Corey’s decision to charge Zimmerman, who is white and Hispanic, came 45 days after the fatal shooting in a quiet gated community in the central Florida town of Sanford.

Police had declined to arrest Zimmerman based on his account of self-defence and Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law, setting off civil rights demonstrations across the country.

“I can tell you we did not come to this decision lightly,” Corey told a news conference in Jacksonville after charging Zimmerman with the most serious crime possible without asserting premeditation.

“Let me emphasize that we do not prosecute by public pressure or by petition. We prosecute based on the facts of any given case as well as the laws of the state of Florida.”

Martin, 17, was on his way back to the home of his father’s fiancee when Zimmerman spotted him and considered him suspicious, calling police and defying their advice to give up following the teenager.

Zimmerman told police he was walking back to his truck when Martin attacked him, decking him with one punch to the nose. Martin then repeatedly slammed Zimmerman’s head against a concrete walkway, Zimmerman’s brother and father have said. Zimmerman then pulled out a 9mm handgun he was licensed to carry and shot Martin once in the chest.

Witnesses heard screams for help and then a gunshot, sounds that were captured on 911 emergency calls by neighbours. It was unclear who was screaming. Martin’s parents said they recognized the voice as their son’s. But Zimmerman’s brother Robert swore it was George Zimmerman pleading for help.

“As a family, we are devastated,” Robert Zimmerman told CNN’s Piers Morgan, adding he was disappointed by the severity of the charge.

“The only silver lining in any of this is that my brother is safe,” he said.

The decision on whether to charge Zimmerman rested with Corey since she was appointed by Florida’s governor on March 22.

The firestorm of protests had forced Sanford’s police chief to step aside and the regularly assigned prosecutor to remove himself from the case, leading to Corey’s appointment.

The disputed facts surrounding the shooting have been picked apart endlessly by television commentators, while dominating the headlines and reigniting a discussion about guns, self-defence laws and what it means to be black in America.

The shooting received scant media attention at first, but Martin’s parents, who are divorced, and their lawyers kept making public calls for Zimmerman’s arrest. That led to a media frenzy, outraged online messages by celebrities, and President Barack Obama’s comment, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon.”

By seeking second-degree murder rather than a lesser charge such as manslaughter, Corey reaffirmed her reputation as a prosecutor who will seek to bring the most serious charge possible. If convicted, Zimmerman could face up to life in prison.

‘STAND YOUR GROUND’ ON TRIAL

In deciding against arresting Zimmerman, police cited Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, which allows people to use deadly force when they believe they are in danger of being killed or suffering great bodily harm.

Among the first tests in the case will be a hearing in which Zimmerman’s lawyer, in order to win immunity under “Stand Your Ground,” will have to convince a judge there is a preponderance of evidence to show Zimmerman had a reasonable belief he was in grave danger.

Zimmerman’s relatives and supporters have insisted he is not racist and has been unfairly vilified. They said he feared for his life during his altercation with Martin and was justified in using deadly force.

Travyon’s parents in turn have appeared on camera repeatedly, demanding justice for their son.

“We simply wanted an arrest,” Travyon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, told reporters in Washington after Corey’s announcement. “We wanted nothing more, nothing less. We just wanted an arrest. And we got it. I say thank you. … Thank you, Jesus.”

Zimmerman had been represented by two lawyers, Craig Sonner and Hal Uhrig, who left the case on Tuesday after saying they had lost contact with Zimmerman and reporting that Zimmerman contacted Corey’s office directly on Tuesday in an apparent attempt to resolve the case on his own.

Sonner and Uhrig said they feared for Zimmerman’s emotional and physical well-being from the stress of living in hiding, mostly alone, while television commentators and sports stars demanded his arrest.

But his new lawyer, Mark O’Mara, said Zimmerman was fine.

“I’m not concerned about his mental well-being right now,” O’Mara told Reuters. “He seems very lucid.”

Later, he told reporters he expected Zimmerman to appear at a hearing on Thursday and was hoping a judge would set bail at a level the Zimmerman family could afford.

“Let’s let the process work,” O’Mara said. “There are a lot of high emotions, maybe some of them have been salved by the arrest. … We need to calm this down. It needs to be tried in a courtroom.”

“There is a little bit of relief,” Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett said, speaking of “the path toward healing” for his city now that community cries for Zimmerman’s arrest had been answered.

“We call for continued calm in the city of Sanford, its surrounding communities, and across the nation,” Triplett said.

“This is an event that touched many hearts and many lives, and started conversations, but we hope that the atmosphere of civility will continue.

Man kills girlfriend, buries her in his room

The police in Rivers state on Wednesday said that it has arrested one Jim Zaccheus for allegedly killing and secretly burying his girlfriend, Peace Matthias in his room last Saturday in the Elechi beach area of Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The new Rivers state police commissioner, Mohammed Indabawa speaking during his maiden press briefing in Port Harcourt.

The new Rivers state police commissioner, Mohammed Indabawa disclosed this while speaking during his maiden press briefing in Port Harcourt.

“I think he had a quarrel with his girlfriend. Then he killed her and buried her in his room,” the commissioner said.

Channels Television reporter learnt that the suspect had been suspicious of his girlfriend over a new hair style she made and demanded to know how she got the money, a situation that led to a quarrel between them.

Not satisfied with her explanation, the suspect was said to have beaten her to death, although it was not clear if he used any object on the victim.

However, neighbours had suspected the movements of the suspect, coupled with a strong stench that was coming out of the room and had alerted security operatives who forced the door open and exhumed the victim’s decomposing body.

The police commissioner said that the suspect has already confessed to committing the crime and will soon be charge to the court once investigation into the matter is concluded.

Gang-rape suspect in police net

The new Rivers police commissioner told journalist at the press briefing that the command had arrested four out of seven suspects who gang-raped a 14-year old girl in the Rumuodonmaya area of Obio/Akpor local government axis of the city.

Mr Indabawa who recently took office as police chief for Rivers also said he planned to continue with the fight against entrenched corruption among officers and men of the command, adding that he would use everything in his powers to reduce crime rate in the state to the lowest.

Nigerian scientist designs software to track criminals

A computer software capable of tracking down criminals and their activities in the country, has been designed and developed by computer scientist and former deputy governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chinedu Emeka.

According to Dr. Emeka, the research was embarked upon to develop the natin’s security system against criminals who often escape being punished for offences committed. He said,”with this software, criminals will be caught and prosecuted…as a result, prospective criminals would have a rethink before venturing into crimes.”

The computer scientist also said, the software (a national data base of criminals) would be made in such a way that security agencies in the country will have easy access to it.

Emeka urged politicians, government and private sectors to always provide funds for universities to carry out research and development, recognize the excellence in each research and encourage the researchers by setting out annual prizes for most useful indigenous scientific discoveries, best made Nigeria computer software

Worker dies operating machine in Lebanese factory

…Family prevented from seeing corpse
LAGOS—Tragedy has struck again in one of the Lebanese-owned factories in Ikotun area of Lagos, Aliberty Company, following the death of a casual worker on Tuesday, while operating a machine.

The deceased, identified as Mike Aghanenu, who scored 240 in the just- released Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB examination result, reportedly bled to death as his right arm down to his ribs were chopped off by the machine.

It was learnt that the factory workers, who had  resumed after the Easter holidays, were jolted about 11am by the scream of a supervisor, Olotu Fredrick, who had noticed an obstruction in the operation, as the machine used to grind fibre was grinding Mike’s hand instead.

Effort to save the life of the only son of his parent failed as he was reportedly confirmed dead at a hospital where he was reportedly rushed to.

Family attacks firm
However, the bereaved family members have expressed displeasure over what they described as display of “an uncultured manner’’ by management of the company in handling the issue.

The family claimed that the company did not intimate them about the tragic incident, wondering why it had to deposit their son’s body at the morgue without deeming it fit to contact them.

They also raised alarm over plans to sweep the case under the carpet, claiming that they were prevented from seeing the corpse by some plain- clothes policemen.

Father laments
According to father of the deceased, Mr Aghanenu, “As I speak, (12 noon Wednesday), we have not been briefed on the exact circumstance that led to my son’s death. We heard yesterday evening and rushed to the Isolo General Hospital mortuary, where we were told that his body was deposited. Can you imagine that we were prevented from seeing my own son’s corpse?”

When Vanguard visited the company, yesterday,  a police van was stationed opposite the premises with armed policemen, apparently to check any likely protest that could turn violent. Members of the bereaved family were also seen, awaiting the arrival of management of the company.

It, however, took close to two hours before a woman, who claimed to be the company’s spokesperson came out to attend to journalists and the bereaved family.

Asked what transpired, she referred Vanguard to the Police at Ikotun,   saying she was not in the position to explain. Her utterances sparked up the already tensed situation, as members of the family engaged her in a verbal confrontation.
The arrival of the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ikotun, Mr. Austin  Akika, at the company, saved the situation from turning violent, as he calmed the enraged family.

Contacted, Lagos State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident, adding that the police could not prevent the bereaved family from seeing the corpse of their son.
He argued that those who claimed to be policemen at the morgue could be impostors.

Baby found alive after 12 hours in morgue

AN Argentine woman who insisted on seeing the presumably lifeless body of her premature baby found the infant alive in the drawer of a hospital morgue.
Authorities say the girl had spent 12 hours in the refrigerated room at the Perrando de Resistencia hospital in northern Argentina.
Analia Bouter tells Todo Noticias television that she thought she was hallucinating when she looked at her infant in the morgue drawer and heard a whimper and saw signs of life.
Doctors say the girl is now in good condition.

The girl was born on April 3 after just six months of pregnancy, and the hospital issued a death certificate, saying she died of unknown causes, Bouter said.
Bouter says doctors have told her that "nobody knows how she could have survived 12 hours in a refrigerated room."
Rafael Sabatinelli, the deputy health secretary of Chaco province where the hospital is located, said authorities were looking into those who were involved in the incident

Former Bad Boy Rapper G Dep charged with murder (G.Dep's Defense Says Not Enough Evidence to Connect Client to Murder)

Trevell "G. Dep" Coleman has already admitted to shooting a man three times in a botched robbery attempt back in 1993. He just believes he's being linked to the wrong man's death.

That was made obvious during day two of Coleman's murder trial at Part 51 of the Supreme Criminal Court on 100 Centre Street in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday (April 11). The day saw Coleman's lawyer, Anthony Ricco, further questioning the evidence brought forth by the detectives on the case.

"There's things that they said under oath, on the record that they're claiming Trevell said even before they looked at the logs," Ricco told XXL upon exiting Part 51 of the courthouse on Wednesday. "The obvious (inconsistencies) are [Coleman] gives a description of a different person that the other witnesses said was robbed on that day. Those differences are substantial, they're not minor. He also doesn't fit the description of the persons that the 911 caller said seen shoot him. There's always a desire to close cold cases. So, when a guy comes forward and admits to being involved in a shooting, [police] then try to link."

On a cold night in December 2010, Coleman walked into the 25th Precinct in Harlem to make the startling confession that he shot a man in a botched robbery attempt back in 1993. At the time of the admission, Coleman didn't know if the man he shot had died or not. Cops subsequently matched Dep's admission to the cold case murder of John Henkel, 43, who was shot and killed during a robbery attempt in 1993 on Park Avenue and 114 Street. Coleman is facing 15 years to life if found guilty of Henkel's murder.

Ricco, though, maintains that they're too many inconsistencies to match Dep to Henkel's killing.

When court resumed after a lunch break on Wednesday, prosecution played Coleman's chilling confession video for the 14 jurors of mixed ethnicities on two large monitors. In the video, Dep admits to shooting a man "three times" in a robbery attempt. He says he lived with the guilt of shooting a man, only telling his mother about the incident in 2008.

"I told her that it bothered me," Dep said on tape. "She said, 'Well, that was a long time ago...in the past."

Before Wednesday's break, Manhattan Assistant District Attorney David Drucker and Ricco examined and cross examined witnesses, including detectives David Feliciano from the 25th Precinct and William Dunn from the 23rd Precinct, whom Coleman first broke his confession to in December 2010.They also grilled Julio Cardona, a 43-year-old former resident of the Johnson Housing Projects in Harlem, who recounted how he saw one White male, two separate Black males and two "dark-skinned Hispanic" males who he said were suspiciously riding around on their bicycles the day of Henkel's shooting.

"They have to prove their case and you have to look at what the proof is," Ricco continued to tell XXL after Wednesday's day in court. "They're saying [Coleman] told them that [Henkel] is 32. There's no way in the world Trevell could tell them he's 32. How does he know that? Only way he could know that is if he knew him. According to one witness, he's going to say White male, according to another he's a Hispanic male. There's no, 'I'm not sure about that, I didn't see the log till after that.' Our position is the evidence will show that it's not accurate.

"Why is he connected to this?" he added. "[Coleman] never said, 'I shot Mr. Henkel!' He never said that."

Dep, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, had the support of wife Crystal Sutton and father Willie Goines in the courtroom with him. Upon walking out the court today, Goines raised his fist in the air as a sign of support, a gesture to which his son nodded to.

The murder trial for the former Bad Boy rapper, who made hits like "Let's Get It" and "Special Delivery," will continue on Friday (April 13) with the remainder of the evidence being presented to jurors.Check back with 3m360 for updates on the G. Dep murder trial.--Mark Lelinwalla

Nollywood Gholden Girl Secret Wedding To Rich Indian Expatriate

This gist is intresting, though not strange in Nollywood where the unusual naturally happens and certainly not the first of its kind.

Straight from Stella Dimokokorkus blog:

Remember beautiful Twins Tracy and Treasure Daniels? Well I don't blame you if you don't remember their unpopular Nollywood faces. The quick background info is that they are both failed actresses who meandered from movies to music and became known as the Gholdengirlz.

What is news now is that one of the twins secretly married a rich Indian expatriate on Saturday April 7,2012 in far away Ohaukwu in Ebonyi state in a very quiet traditional wedding ceremony.

Whispers indicate she snatched this man but i dont know whether it was boyfriend snatching or husband snatching but the church wedding is being planned for July and its hush hush..invited guests will receive a code to their phones after they get their invites and it is the code they will use to access the venue but alas anything else yet because of the security surrounding the details.

20 Smoking' Songs About Weed

t's hard to imagine that Bob Dylan, Three 6 Mafia and Toby Keith have much in common, but all three artists understand the power of a classic stoner track. Marijuana has served as the inspiration for classic cuts in rock, hip-hop, pop, and of course, reggae, and is still influencing more than a few of our biggest artists (hello, Wiz Khalifa!) today. For 4/20, Billboard.com has put together a countdown of 20 tracks that talk about toking up, with each song including a "potency" level that measures their inebriated energy on a scale of one (mildly buzzed) to 10 (totally stoned).

next: Method Man/Redman, Tom Petty 20. "Because I Got High"

Afro Man

Most Smokin' Lyric: "I was gonna clean my room until I got high/ I gonna get up and find the broom but then I got high/My room is still messed up and I know why (Yeah, hey!)/ Because I got high, because I got high, because I got high."

Potency: ONE. At first, "Because I Got High" sounds like a fun, harmless joke about how smoking weed leads to unproductivity. But when Afro Man's problems get more and more serious -- he goes from cutting class to losing his wife and kids -- this song just becomes a buzzkill.

19. "Hash Pipe"

Weezer

Most Smokin' Lyric: "You've got your problems, I've got my ass wide/ You've got your big G's, I've got my hash pipe."

Potency: FOUR. After a prolonged break following the release of "Pinkerton," Weezer came roaring back with this feisty first single from the Green Album. Among the bizarre lyrics -- "The knee-stocking flavor is a favorite treat/Of men that don't bother with the taste of a teat" -- is frontman Rivers Cuomo's snarling defense of relaxing with some hash.

next: Method Man/Redman, Tom Petty

Chart Article previous: Afro Man, Weezer next: Neil Young, Wiz Khalifa 18. "How High"

Method Man and Redman

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Look up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane/ It's the funk doctor spock smokin buddha on a train/ How high? So high that I can kiss the sky/ (Up, up to the sky!)"

Potency: FIVE. Though it only has a few literal weed references, this mid-'90s rap gem was the original theme song for one of the greatest stoner music duos to date, Method Man & Redman. To witness them perform it in concert today is to see burly security guards hopelessly attempt to put out dozens of simultaneously lit-up joints.

17. "You Don't Know How It Feels"

Tom Petty

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Let's get to the point/ Let's roll another joint/ And let's head on down the road/ There's somewhere I got to go."

Potency: FIVE. The rock 'n' roll equivalent to Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode," Petty's hit isn't really about weed. The one line that is, however, is just too memorable to go unacknowledged. Radio stations famously censored it, but that hasn't stopped anyone from shouting it out loud in their car.

previous: Afro Man, Weezer next: Neil Young, Wiz Khalifa

Chart Article previous: Method Man/Redman, Tom Petty next: Sean Paul, C+C Music Factory 16. "Roll Another Number (For the Road)"

Neil Young

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Think I'll roll another number for the road, I feel able to get under any load/ Though my feet aren't on the ground, I been standin' on the sound/ Of some open-hearted people goin' down."

Potency: SIX. Though Neil Young's classic isn't solely about weed, the song's general sentiment is all stoner, and it's impossible to listen to these skulking guitar strums without slowing down to a snail's pace.

15. "In The Cut"

Wiz Khalifa

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Rolling all this weed I am holding/ Thinking she high before she even get the chance to smoke it"

Potency: SIX. Who would have thought that Frou Frou's "Let Go" would serve as a killer sample on a stoner rap anthem? Wiz Khalifa's hazy flow has rarely sounded more cohesive than on this "Kush & Orange Juice" cut, and the refrain "In the cut, in the cut, rolling doobies up" is like the stoner-friendly version of "Black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow."

previous: Method Man/Redman, Tom Petty next: Sean Paul, C+C Music Factory

Chart Article previous: Wiz Khalifa, Neil Young next: Toby Keith, Kid Cudi 14. "We Be Burnin'"

Sean Paul

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Everyday we be burnin' not concernin' what nobody wanna say / We be earnin' dollars turning 'cause we mind de pon we pay / More than gold and oil and diamonds - girls, we need dem everyday"

Potency: SIX. Not only is Sean Paul clear of his love for blazin' on "Burnin'" -- he sets that love to a dancehall beat we can get down too. Paul's "We Be Burnin'" spent a full 28 weeks on the Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 6.

13. "Take A Toke"

C+C Music Factory

Most Smokin' Lyric: "You ignite me and I'll ignite you / And once all the sheets burn, baby / I've got some more bamboo / And when the smoke clears / Lady, still my eyes focus on you / Huff and puff some of my funk stuff / Prove my point that I am the joint"

Potency: SEVEN. They may be best known for their club hit "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)", but C+C slowed down the mood and lowered the temperature on this 1994 cut, intermixing lovin' (er' sex) and weed.

previous: Neil Young, Wiz Khalifa next: Toby Keith, Kid Cudi

Chart Article previous: Sean Paul, C+C Music Factory next: Bob Dylan, Dr. Dre 12. "Weed With Willie"

Toby Keith

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Now we learned a hard lesson in a small Texas town/ He fired up a fat boy and he passed it around/ The last words that I spoke before they tucked me in/ I'll never smoke weed with Willie again"

Potency: SEVEN. On this "Shock'n Y'all" bonus track, Toby Keith spins a yarn about sharing a blunt with one of America's most notorious pot enthusiasts: Willie Nelson. The country legend's stuff might be a little too powerful for Keith, who opts for the whiskey and declares, "I'll never smoke weed with Willie again."

11. "Marijuana"

Kid Cudi

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Pre- pre- pretty green bud/ All in my blunt/ Ohhh I need it."

Potency: SEVEN. Kid Cudi recently swore off smoking weed, but he certainly spent a good chunk of his first two albums celebrating the pastime. On "Marijuana," the airiest track on "Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager," Cudi likens marijuana to a best friend, saying that it "always had my back" and "never left me lonely."

previous: Sean Paul, C+C Music Factory next: Bob Dylan, Dr. Dre

Chart Article previous: Toby Keith, Kid Cudi next: Mighty Diamonds, Luniz 10. "Rainy Day Women No. 12 & 35"

Bob Dylan

Most Smokin' Lyric: "I would not feel so all alone/ Everybody must get stoned!"

Potency: SEVEN. Dylan was no stranger to philosophical songwriting in the mid-60s, but the opening track to "Blonde on Blonde" remains a particular triumph for marijuana enthusiasts. Backed by a brass band, the folk legend delivers a loopy anthem punctuated by the exclamation, "Everybody must get stoned!" at the end of each verse.

9. "The Next Episode"

Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Hey-ay-ay-ay! Smoke weed every day!"

Potency: EIGHT. On this 2001 West Coast classic, the Doctor recruits his conglomerate, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt and Nate Dogg (R.I.P.), to show how the left side lives: namely, sporting greenery of every type.

previous: Toby Keith, Kid Cudi next: Might Diamonds, Luniz

Chart Article previous: Bob Dylan, Dr. Dre next: Black Sabbath, Cypress Hill 8. "Pass The Koutchie"

The Mighty Diamonds

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Pass the kutchie pon the left hand side / Pass the kutchie pon the left hand side / It a go bun, it a go dung, Jah know"

Potency: NINE. The Mighty Diamonds' 1982 classic was loved by many in Jamaica, but exploded it in the U.K. and U.S. when Musical Youth covered it as "Pass the Dutchie." Musical Youth interchanged pots, substituting the "kutchie" with a cooking utensil.

7. "I Got 5 on It"

The Luniz'

Most Smokin' Lyric: "I'm gone, beatin my chest like King Kong / It's on, wrap my lips around a 40 / And when it comes to get another stogie / Fools all kick in like Shinobi."

Potency: NINE. Listen closely to Luniz' 1995 "I Got 5 On It," and you'll get a full lesson on the do's and don't's of dope. The Oakland rap duo's 'Operation Stackola' knocked Michael Jackson's "History" of the charts solely off the strength of the platinum certified Indo anthem.

previous: Bob Dylan, Dr. Dre next: Black Sabbath, Cypress Hill

Chart Article previous: Mighty Diamonds, Luniz next: Sublime, Peter Tosh 6. "Sweet Leaf"

Black Sabbath

Most Smokin' Lyric: "My life is free now, my life is clear/I love you sweet leaf, though you can't hear."

Potency: NINE. Marijuana, of course, is an inanimate object. But don't tell that to Ozzy Osbourne, who professes his love directly to his "sweet leaf" as though it's his wife, Sharon, or some mythical metal goddess, over grinding guitar riffs. Being pro-weed never sounded so romantic.

5. "Hits from the Bong"

Cypress Hill

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Still it, goes down smooth when I get a clean hit/ Of the skunky, funky, smelly green sh*t/ Sing my song, puff all night long/ As I take hits from the bong..."

Potency: NINE. Complete with bong rip sound effects and a hazy soul sample, Cypress Hill's hip-hop classic could persuade even the straightest of the straight edge to take a walk on the high side.

previous: Luniz, Mighty Diamonds next: Sublime, Peter Tosh

Chart Article previous: Black Sabbath, Cypress Hill next: Three 6 Mafia, Rick James 4. "Smoke Two Joints"

Sublime

Most Smokin' Lyric: "I smoke two joints a dime a piece, and two the time before / I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints / And then I smoke two more"

Potency: NINE. Anytime, anywhere is the mentality when it comes to the toke on Sublime's 1992 hit, "Smoke Two Joints." Originally by The Toyes, Sublime adds in other samples ('Beyond the Valley of the Dolls' film, Eazy E, Just Ice and Bert Suzanka) and seals it with the sounds of a bubbling bong.

3. "Legalize It"

Peter Tosh

Most Smokin' Lyric: "Singers smoke it, and players of instrument too/Legalize it, yeah yeah, that's the best thing you can do"

Potency: NINE. Whether they call it weed, marijuana, tampee or ganja, smokers have been grooving to Peter Tosh's plea for legalization for over 35 years. Reggae legend Bob Marley later tried his hand at a new version of "Legalize It" after guesting on Tosh's 1976 album of the same name.

previous: Black Sabbath, Cypress Hill next: Three 6 Mafia, Rick James

Chart Article previous: Sublime, Peter Tosh . 2. "Stay High"

Three 6 Mafia

Most Smokin' Lyric: "What's up Mary! Mary Jane!/Since I have met you, girl, you ruined my brain/You stole my heart, right from the start"

Potency: TEN. Before they became Academy Award winners for "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," Three 6 Mafia crafted arguably the greatest hip-hop song about smoking weed ever laid to tape. From the syrupy soul sample to Young Buck's wild middle verse to the zonked-out bliss of the chorus, "Stay High" (or its censored counterpart, "Stay Fly") invites the listener to do just that.

1. "Mary Jane"

Rick James

Most Smokin' Lyric: "And when I'm feeling low, she comes as no surprise / Turns me on with her love, takes me to paradise."

Potency: TEN. Rick James' oft-sampled 1978 hit is one of the first songs to define punk-funk. "Mary Jane" opens up strong with strings, then lightens up with female vocals that introduce the star of the show and James' leading "lady." Like Ozzy, James knows how to turn crooning about weed into a potent act of seduction.

Man in Hospital Fighting for his Life after Wife Sliced his Privates for Refusing Her Sex – Wife Drinks Rat Poison

A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Gweru and his wife are battling for their lives in hospital after the wife tried to slice off her husband’s private parts with a knife while he slept, allegedly for refusing to make love to her, police confirmed yesterday.

The man is in a coma at Gweru Provincial Hospital with his 19-year-old wife who tried to commit suicide by drinking rat poison soon after the incident. She is also reported to be in a critical condition. Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Patrick Chademana, said the incident happened last Friday at about 7.30am at the couple’s lodgings in Mtapa high-density suburb.

He said trouble started when the husband, who had arrived from work two hours before, fell asleep despite the fact that the wife wanted to have sex. Insp Chademana said when the husband fell asleep the wife allegedly tried to slice off his private parts with a knife and he was awaked by pain from the cut.

The man eventually got assistance when a fellow tenant heard him screaming and went to investigate, after which he was rushed to Mtapa Clinic where he was subsequently transferred to Gweru Provincial Hospital. The young couple is said to have been having a long-standing marital dispute with the husband seeking to end the marriage.

“It is said the man had told the wife before that he no longer wanted to stay with her. A few hours after the incident the wife was picked by a passer-by lying near a farm in Montrose, just outside the city. It is suspected that she had attempted to commit suicide by drinking poison. She is also admitted to Gweru General Hospital. Investigations are still in progress,’’ said Insp Chademana.

Another Nollywood Actor Will Soon Die – Prophet TB Joshua

Just some weeks ago, a prophecy made by top Nigerian prophet and head of Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet TB Joshua on the death of an African leader came to pass.

Alas! It was the President of Malawi that was the victim.

The controversial man of God at his second service on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2012 warned the movie industry to pray against the death of a male actor.

“Actors in Nollywood should pray against death of a male member of the industry,” Prophet TB Joshua warned.

The Nigerian film industry witnessed a series of death last year. Ashley Nwosu, Sam Loco Efe, Geraldine Ekeocha and others all died last.

This year has already witnessed the death of David Ihieze and James Iroha popularly called Gringory

The 29-year-old rapper is seen getting down and dirty in a lap dance club in her new provocative video

However, she appeared to go for a more 'artful' approach at first, kneeling on top of a platform in a pink leotard while wearing a blonde wig.

But she also made sure she injected some of her trademark raunch to the proceedings by provocatively bouncing up and down.

..

It then cuts to her wearing a tiny bikini in a lap dancing nightclub waving a fan of banknotes as she enjoys the salacious atmosphere.

She shows off her famous curvy figure in the video which sees her changing things up on the hair front by wearing a green wig.

There are also inter-cuts of her interacting with some female companions, as well as flashes of semi-naked women writhing around.

Last August, the former Roc-A-Fella rapper pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges during the two-year period in question, although the defense contests the total sum due. He faces up to three years in prison if found guilty.
