Steven Tyler will not return as a judge on 'American Idol'
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler announced Thursday that he will not be returning as a judge on “American Idol” next season.
In a statement from Fox publicity, he said, “After some long...hard...thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit,” said Tyler. “I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band.
“The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious a-- – the ultimate in auditory takeover…On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars…['Idol'] was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it…Now it’s time to bring Rock Back.”
Fox’s President of Alternative Entertainment Mike Darnell praised Tyler for his two years on “Idol.”
“It’s been a tremendous honor to have Steven – one of the most prolific artists in the world – on "American Idol" for the past two seasons,” he said. “He’s been a terrific judge, a true friend and great mentor to everyone involved with the show, and we know he’ll continue to be a huge inspiration to"Idol" hopefuls for years to come. We are very sad that Steven has chosen to focus more on his music, but we always knew when we hired a rock ’n’ roll legend, he would go back to the music. We all wish him all the best and would love to have him back on the show anytime.”
There is no official word as to whether or not Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson will return to “Idol," but Lopez suggested she will not be either.
In an interview with the "Today Show," she said, "I love everybody, I love all the guys on the show, I love the family that's there ... but I am thinking it's time for me to go and do other things I love to do."
Earlier this week, it was reported that Randy Jackson would be replaced by former "Idol" contestant Adam Lambert.

My husband beats and rapes me in front of our kids
A mother of four, Mrs. Taiwo Arum, is seeking the order of the court to dissolve her 11-year-old marriage to her 45-year old husband, Jamiu, because he usually raped her in the presence of their children.
The woman who was in tears while narrating her ordeal at an Igando Customary Court, Lagos, on Friday, also disclosed that Jamiu used to beat her “mercilessly” before raping her.
In her words: “My husband, Jamiu usually beat me before raping me in the presence of our children. After the attack, our children normally advised me to cooperate with him, so that he will not kill me. On each occasion, nobody could hear my crying because of the noise from some of our tenants’ generators.”
Mrs. Taiwo told the court that her husband usually gave her and their four children only N400 feeding allowance daily. She said the matter was brought to the court because things are so bad that her children lacked fatherly care and affection.
On his part, Jamiu, a transporter, denied all the allegations leveled against him, stressing that he still loves his wife and begged the court not to dissolve their marriage. “I did not hit her, she is blowing the issue out of proportion,” he pleaded.
The President of the Court, Mr. Adewale Eko, said their issues are not beyond repair. He ordered the husband to start giving N5,000 to his estranged wife as weekly allowance to cater for their children, as against the N400 he usually gave her daily.
The judge advised both parties to meet with the elders in their family for amicable resolution of the matter and report back to him on December 1
Alleged witchcraft: Woman, 70, lynched over step-son’s ordeal
A 70-year-old woman, Mrs. Rebecca Adewumi, was, yesterday, lynched by a mob in Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti State, over alleged witchcraft, even as the deceased family petitioned the police, asking for justice.
Narrating the ordeal her mother passed through to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the first daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Grace Smith, said her mother was invited to the palace of Olomuo, Oba Noah Omonigbehin, some time last May on allegation that she used her witchcraft power to harm her step-son, one Ola.
“On getting to Olomuo’s palace, the family was asked to come the following day at 6a.m. and on the said day, the palace was full to the brim. She was then asked to undress to the pants, after which a series of questions were asked. My mother was then given a concoction (Obo leave)said to make witches confess and die. My dear mother was told that she would die within seven days if she was involved in Ola’s matter.
Woman forced to drink concoction
“Nine days passed and nothing happened and I left for my base in Lagos. Three weeks after, June 26, some youths in the town went to our house and brought out my mother and forced her to drink a poisonous item. They then took her outside into the rain where she was beaten and subjected to serious torture. When she was almost dying they took her back into her room and laid her on the bed. She died on June 30.
”While she was being beaten, some youths went to the house of her younger sister, Mrs Anike Orojo, who was also beaten for daring to cater for her.”
Corpse missing
Grace said of the family members knew the whereabout of the corpse of her late mother.
Commenting on the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sotonye Wakama, said the police got report about the incident and the petition by the family.
The police boss narrated how the state Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Dayo Akinlaja, contacted him about the issue on the said day. He said nobody had been arrested because no eyewitness to the alleged crime had come forward to identify any suspect.
Wakama said police could not rely on the names listed by the lawyers in their petition because they were not at the scene of the alleged crime.
Wakama said the command would send an ambulance to Omuo-Ekiti to bring the corpse for autopsy at a government hospital in Ado-Ekiti.The police boss said a member of the deceased’s family, who was reportedly an eyewitness, had agreed to come forward and identify the suspects. He promised that justice would be done in the matter.
When contacted on phone, Oba Omonigbehin asked reporters to come over to Omuo-Ekiti along with the persons who said they were witnesses to the incident.
Meanwhile, the family’s lawyer, Mr. Dele Omotoso, in a petition dated July 5, to the police, claimed that Mrs. Adewumi was subjected to trial by ordeal. He urged the police to investigate the circumstances leading to her death.

Bra Made Of Diamonds And Gold Sells For $1Million
This bra has just gone on sale for $1million.
Dripping in 500 carats of diamonds, and moulded out of 18 carat gold, the bra at Birmingham Estate and Jewelry Buyers took a crew of 40 workers almost a year to make.
Victoria's Secret
The this piece of lingerie consists of all natural diamonds, with 750 grams of gold, 'solid gold,' said the store's owner Anthony Aubry.
Victoria's Secret's piece de resistance during last year's runway collection was the show-stopping $2.5million Fantasy Treasure bra, covered in yellow diamonds and pearls.
But Mr Aubry explained how his bra is unlike any other
'The difference between this bra and the Victoria’s Secret bras is the Victoria’s Secret bras have fabric in them and the diamonds are kind of imbedded into the fabric. This, there’s no fabric in it what so ever, it’s just solid gold,' he told CBS.
First Lady (perm sec) Patience Jonathan Has Received Salaries From Bayelsa State Since 1999!
Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, who became a Permanent Secretary in the government of Bayelsa State yesterday, has been paid a salary by that State since 1999, a 3m360 investigation has revealed.
That was the year she transferred her employment from Rivers State to Bayelsa after her husband became the deputy governor to deposed former governor and ex-convict, DSP Alamieyeseigha.
Several sources in the state civil service, say, however, that Mrs. Jonathan has never shown up for work. Yesterday, Seriake Dickson, the Governor of Bayelsa State who was himself handpicked for that position by President Goodluck Jonathan, appointed Mrs. Jonathan Permanent Secretary in the state civil service.
One of our sources said of Mrs. Jonathan: "She is a staff of civil service, she was being paid until a biometrics was done by [former governor] Sylva. She refused to show up for verification in 2009/2010 and her salary was briefly stopped."
The source stated that Mrs. Jonathan transferred her service from Rivers State as a director in the Ministry of Education and was considered on "on leave of absence" even in Rivers State while her husband worked at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
During the tenure of President Umaru Yar'adua, Mr. Jonathan, as Vice President, refused to declare his wife's assets, claiming that she was a civil servant in Bayelsa State.
The promotion to Permanent Secretary accorded Mrs. Jonathan contravenes civil service rules, according to the workers in state. They described her as a ghost worker who has not put in any work to deserve a place in the civil service. Instead of the promotion, they told 2m360, such a worker ought to have been sanctioned and dismissed for truancy, as well as made to refund all of the back pay she has accumulated for absconding from work.
Psquare’s mum died 5 hours after heart surgery in India ( Peter opens up)
The late Josephine Okoye at Psquare's 'Invasion' Concert, August 2011
Josephine Okoye, the late mother of Psquare duo Peter and Paul Okoye had been ill for some time, and was operated on in an Indian hospital a few hours before she gave up the ghost.
3m360 has confirmed that the deceased passed away about five hours after undergoing heart surgery.
A statement from Psquare’s publicist says ‘Josephine Okoye, who had battled with prolonged illness, passed away in an Indian hospital in Kolkata, last night July 11, 2012 at 11PM.’
Speaking to 3m360 at his residence, Peter Okoye said their late mother suffered from diabetes.
We’re told she had earlier been admitted to St. Nicholas hospital in Lagos, but was flown out of the country when her condition worsened.
The atmosphere at Squareville, the Omole Phase 1 home of the Okoye brothers – Peter, Paul and Jude, was somber, less than a day after the news broke.
Friends and colleagues of the award-winning singers have been visiting the house to commiserate with the family.
A condolence register has been opened, and some of those who paid early visits include their album marketer, T-Joe, producers Flip Tyce and Samklef and TV host Helen Paul-Bamisile.
While Peter Okoye opened up his doors to speak with NET, Paul was not seen anywhere in the vicinity.
‘You know that she was a prayer warrior, so I don’t need to tell you how she stood by us spiritually. Besides, she was the only one that believed in us when we decided to make a career out of music.
I can remember that she used to sneak us out at night then to attend shows without the consent of our father who insisted that we must quit music to face our education’, Peter recounts.
She is survived by her Jos based husband, her children Ifeanyi, Henry, Jude, Lilian, Tony, Peter, Paul and Mary, as well as her grand-children, including Cameron, Peter’s son.

Many die scooping fuel as tanker explodes
Police authorities in Rivers State say number of casualties is yet to be determined
An unconfirmed number of persons were burnt to death, while many were injured while scooping fuel from a fallen tanker at Okobe in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers early on Thursday, the state’s police authorities have confirmed.
“As I speak to you, we do not know the number or extent of casualties at the scene,’’ said Ben Ugwuegbulam, spokesman of the Rivers Police Command, adding that a team of police officers and other security agents had been dispatched to the scene.
“We have cordoned off the area to ensure that miscreants do not take laws into their hands. We also want to know what exactly caused the inferno,’’ he said.
According to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), the petrol-carrying tanker crashed with three other vehicles, 11 km from Ahoada-Mbiama on the east-west road in Rivers.
It was gathered that the vehicle did not immediately burst into flames, and as a result, people scrambled for free fuel.

Judge Seeks Chris Brown Community Service Audit
A judge ordered an audit of Chris Brown**'s community service progress Tuesday after a prosecutor handling his felony assault case cited a possible discrepancy in the amount of work he has performed.
Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray requested the audit because she says the records are not clear on how many hours Brown performed and where the work has been done. Brown had been allowed to perform six months' worth of community labor in his home state of Virginia, but a judge said probation officials in Los Angeles should review detailed records to ascertain how much work he has actually done.
Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg said Brown had completed a significant number of hours, but did not elaborate.
Brown's attorney Pat Harris did not object to the audit, and said after the hearing the issue was related to which jurisdiction his client performed his community service in.
The judge said part of the issue was that the court hadn't received detailed logs of Brown's community service, which is supposed to comprise of graffiti removal, roadside cleanup and other manual labor. Schnegg said those logs had previously been provided, but not for recent updates.
Brown, 23, remains on probation for beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna in February 2009. He has completed domestic violence and anger management counseling.
Schnegg ordered Brown to appear at the next hearing, tentatively scheduled for Aug. 21. It will be the first time Brown has had to appear in court in several months, and the R&B singer has generally received favorable reports from probation officials and Schnegg.
There was no mention of the recent New York City bottle-throwing nightclub brawl that left Brown with a cut on his chin, or a woman's claim that the singer had snatched her cellphone in Miami after she tried to take a picture of him. The melee occurred members of singer Drake's entourage stopped Brown and his group from leaving the club W.i.P., though neither entertainer has been arrested. Drake has said he was leaving the club when the fight began.
Brown's attorney Mark Geragos asked that the singer's probation be terminated in February. But a judge declined, stating that the Grammy nominee should complete more of his community service obligations.
At the time, officials reported that Brown had completed half of the six months' worth of roadside cleanup, graffiti removal and other manual labor that he was ordered to do after pleading guilty.
Brown is serving a five year probation sentence.
BEANIE SIGEL FACES UP TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON FOR FAILURE TO FILE TAXES, SENTENCING TOMORROW
After pleading guilty earlier this year for a failure to file federal income-tax returns from 2003-2005, Beanie Sigel will be sentenced tomorrow morning (July 12) at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, XXLMag.com has learned.THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER reports that federal prosecutors are seeking the maximum allowable sentence, which is three years in prison.
Sigel, real name Dwight Grant, earned in excess of $1 million in net income from 2003 through 2005 and owed the IRS approximately $348,077 in taxes during that time period, but didn't pay anything.
Tomorrow, he'll learn his legal fate.
"It's difficult to predict the outcome in cases like this," Sigel's attorney Fortunato N. Perri, Jr. told XXLMag.com. "The sentencing judge is going to evaluate all the factors, including his background. Hopefully, the court will recognize that this is not a crime of violence."
Perri adds that "incarceration is an option."
Although it's non-related to this case, it doesn't help any that Sigel's priors include being accused of attempted murder (CHARGES HE BEAT IN AN ACQUITTAL IN 2005).
In relation to this case, Beans was originally supposed to be sentenced back in APRIL. However, Perri told the court that his client had not provided the financial information a probation officer requested or permitted a home visit by the officer. That pushed the sentencing back to July 12, tomorrow.
Just last month, Scarface re-confirmed plans of he and Beans working on and releasing their proposed joint album.
"I think the name of the album's gon be The First 48," 'FACE TOLD XXLMAG.COM. "We gon do a double album. First 48, Second 48. Beanie came up with that shit. It's dope. The minute that everything is a go, we gon put our lives on camera and we gon record the first one in 48 hours
MEEK MILL DEBATES PHILADELPHIA PASTOR WHO CALLED FOR "AMEN" BOYCOTT
Meek Mill and Rev. Jomo K. Johnson attempted to hash out their differences live on air earlier today (July 11) on Philadelphia's Hot 107.9.
Meek called into The Q Deezy Show to address Johnson and his calls for a boycott of the Maybach Music Group rapper for his song "Amen." AS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED, earlier this week, Johnson told the Philadelphia Daily News, "As a hip-hop fan, I want to encourage every rap fan in Philadelphia who is a believer in Jesus Christ, to boycott Meek Mill until he acknowledges this blatant disrespect. And being resident of North Philadelphia and pastor, I revoke Meek's 'hood pass' until this happens."
Right as the on air conversation between the two began, Meek voiced his concerns. "This looking like you trying to get famous, or you need some attention, because you could have came to me and said anything you wanted to say," he said. "I mighta helped you. If you needed money for your church, I mighta woulda gave you that money. I mighta even remixed the song with Kirk Franklin. Anything you wanted to do. You went about it like you looking for attention and fame."
Johnson retorted, "My plea to you is to turn from sin, turn from blasphemy, turn from unrighteousness, that you're purporting in your music--turn to Jesus Christ and receive eternal life. It doesn't matter how much money you get, without Jesus Christ you will be lost eternally." The Pastor said he had once served four years in jail, for aggravated assault on an officer, and God changed his life.
"I got an even lighter charge than aggravated assault, so your record is worse than mine, basically," the rapper responded. "I'm not here to judge you. The way I'm looking at it: you want to be famous, or you want some money." He referenced work in the community, like giving out coats to kids, which he showed in his "Faded Too Long" video, and asked the Pastor, "Where was you at?"
"I've spent 25 stacks to move in the hood while you're not there," Johnson responded. "I'm on Germantown and Somerset doing ministry where you're not, Mr. Mill."
A little later, he played on the rapper's name. "You may be Meek, [but] I'm not!" he said. "And if you disrespect our God, then we have a right to proclaim that."
The Warner Bros. signee soon referenced his own belief in God, as well as that his grandmother is 80-years-old, an avid churchgoer, and hasn't had the same negative feelings towards her grandson's music that the Pastor was voicing. "You can't judge me!" he shouted.
"I recognize that you are a talented artist, but you are using your gifts for a wrong purpose," the Pastor opined. He accused the music of promoting rape, theft, and Black on Black crime, among other things.
"I'm watching over these kids," Meek promised. "I be in the streets everyday." He then called upon violent movies, as well as Eminem's history of violent lyrics, and asked, "Why you talkin' to me?" before quickly answering his own question: "You look like you want attention."
"For your own soul, you need to confess this to God," Johnson urged, saying that he initially reached out to Meek five months ago, though he got no response. "God loves you, but he hates your sin."
Meek attempted to turn the table. "Let's do the statistics on rappers and pastors with rape. Zero percent rappers ever came to the light of raping a child. Pastors, it's no match. What you talkin' about? Is you protesting Eddie Long?"
Johnson quickly took the discussion to a new level. "Have you ever raped a woman before?" he asked. "Because if you haven't, then you're lying; your music is a lie."
"You sound like a psycho right now, dog," Meek came back. "You trying to take another Black man down for you to get some credibility."
As tempers continued to flair, the conversation soon fizzled, and host Q Deezy said he hoped he would be able to speak with the two in an off-air setting to settle their differences.

Chevron Workers Left To Die On Platform, Survivors Say
Newly obtained testimonies from Chevron workers paint a sharply different picture of the days leading up to the deadly Jan. 16, 2012 blowout at a drilling rig that took two lives.
According to the U.S. oil company, there were no requests to evacuate the KS Endeavor rig and that staff on board did not call a halt to work although they were entitled to.
But new accounts from four of the platform workers describes workers pleading to be evacuated as smoke billowed for a borehole. The subsequent explosion engulfed the rig in flames, causing the two deaths.
The new information was shared with an investigative reporter from Reuters by Britain’s Rail, Maritime and Transport trade union, or RMT. The union claims the documents - transcripts of accounts from three workers – are genuine but that names of witnesses have been withheld to protect their employment prospects.
The accounts were backed up by subsequent interviews in Nigeria with a worker who was also on the rig.
Field Offshore Design Engineering, or FODE, which hired the subcontractor KS Drilling, declined to comment, citing confidentiality clauses in its contract with KS Drilling preventing them from making public any information about work for Chevron.
The fire that followed the blast burned on the rig for 46 days until March 2. Chevron drilled a relief well to stem the gas leak, sealing it on June 18. In an email to Reuters on July 2, Chevron said that an investigation with the Nigerian authorities concluded that an entry of high pressure gas in the wellbore had caused the failure of equipment and fire.
The newly-released accounts convey rising panic from some of those on the platform, who fearing a blowout, checked each morning the volume of smoke billowing from the drilling borehole.
"Chevron knew for over a week that the well was unstable yet they refused to evacuate us," said one of the rig workers who gave his account to the RMT union.
A Nigerian worker who was aboard the rig at the time of the blast said many wanted to be evacuated.
"At almost every point in time, we saw thick smoke coming out of the open hole, and we were all scared like hell because we could see a disaster happening any moment yet they (Chevron) did not evacuate us -- why, I do not know," the witness said.
"This is the reason so many of us survived because we were all aware that it was going to happen, but just didn't know when," he said.
The faulty Funiwa 1A well has since sealed by the San Ramon-based Chevron but a fine of $3 billion for environmental damages against the company is still pending.
