How P-Square Blocked May-D From Performing At Calabar Carnival

Click for Full Image Size
May-D was billed to perform alongside Psquare and Akon at the Calabar festival. His name was on the list. And true to their words, MayD arrived at Calabar airport on the same flight with P-Square.Nigeriafilms.com

Miss Petite Nigeria smelt trouble when he looked alone and didn’t walk with them. They rode in separate cars and he was lodged in a separate hotel from them.

So, the show started and I saw J-Martins had replaced May-D and people were asking questions about his whereabouts.

According to information gathered “He wasn’t paid his balance and decided to pull out”.

So, one of Akon’s people asked where May-D was and was told the same thing “In his words, that’s not good mennn..sometimes, it really isn’t about the money you know. Akon loves that dude mennnn”.

However, another reliable source said that “When May-D was put on the list of performing artistes, the organizers didn’t know he wasn’t with Square records anymore.

So, P-square on getting to Calabar, intimated the organizers on the latest development and so they had to drop him at the last minute.

When Akon and P-square performed “chop my money”May-D’s part had been yanked off.

The 9th Annual Channel O Music Video Awards was held at Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa on 17 November 2012. The awards were first held in 2003 under the name Reel Music Video Awards. Since 2005 the awards have been held annually.
This year’s awards hosted by Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince and Bonang Matheba was a promise fulfilled as the awards was filled with glitz and glamour with generously beautified atmosphere and a massive attendance of big names in African Music.
On the night, Tiwa Savage’s date to the event was her mum. Unfortunately, Tiwa could only take consolation in Flavour’s award-winning song she was featured in.

Psquare’s mum died 5 hours after heart surgery in India ( Peter opens up)

The late Josephine Okoye at Psquare's 'Invasion' Concert, August 2011

Josephine Okoye, the late mother of Psquare duo Peter and Paul Okoye had been ill for some time, and was operated on in an Indian hospital a few hours before she gave up the ghost.

3m360 has confirmed that the deceased passed away about five hours after undergoing heart surgery.

A statement from Psquare’s publicist says ‘Josephine Okoye, who had battled with prolonged illness, passed away in an Indian hospital in Kolkata, last night July 11, 2012 at 11PM.’

Speaking to 3m360 at his residence, Peter Okoye said their late mother suffered from diabetes.

We’re told she had earlier been admitted to St. Nicholas hospital in Lagos, but was flown out of the country when her condition worsened.

The atmosphere at Squareville, the Omole Phase 1 home of the Okoye brothers – Peter, Paul and Jude, was somber, less than a day after the news broke.

Friends and colleagues of the award-winning singers have been visiting the house to commiserate with the family.

A condolence register has been opened, and some of those who paid early visits include their album marketer, T-Joe, producers Flip Tyce and Samklef and TV host Helen Paul-Bamisile.

While Peter Okoye opened up his doors to speak with NET, Paul was not seen anywhere in the vicinity.

‘You know that she was a prayer warrior, so I don’t need to tell you how she stood by us spiritually. Besides, she was the only one that believed in us when we decided to make a career out of music.

I can remember that she used to sneak us out at night then to attend shows without the consent of our father who insisted that we must quit music to face our education’, Peter recounts.

She is survived by her Jos based husband, her children Ifeanyi, Henry, Jude, Lilian, Tony, Peter, Paul and Mary, as well as her grand-children, including Cameron, Peter’s son.

Mrs Okoye was a good pillar to P-Square while she was alive. She was also reported to be very useful in shaping the music career of P-Square with priceless advice and care she gives the Nigerian music stars when needed.

May God grants the Okoyes the fortitude to bear this huge loss. And May her soul rest in peace.
