The Guardian‘s The Counted program keeps track of all police-related killings in the United States, and their latest batch of statistics reveals some troubling information about the month of July.
According to The Counted, 118 people died in police-related killings during the 31 days of July, good for the highest tally of deaths this year. While authorities continue to investigate the controversial death of Sandra Bland in a Texas jail cell, her unfortunate passing did not continue to this tally.
One of the more prominent of these deaths was that of Sam DuBose, who was senselessly killed at a traffic stop on July 19. DuBose’s killer’s trial is set to begin next month.
