Married man in Abuja scams girlfriend of N2.9 million after promising to marry her

justice is served
A man has pleaded not guilty to duping his girlfriend of N2.9 million to buy her a RAV 4 car.
Reports say, Nebo Ogochukwu had trusted him with the money because even though he was already married, he had promised to marry her.
On Thursday, 40-year-old Godwin Ochapa was denied bail by a Karu Upper Area Court judge in Abuja. He appeared before the presiding judge, Umar Kagarko, on a four-count-charge, which he committed in 2010.
According to reports, prosecutor, Bulus Samuel, said Ogochukwu reported the case at the State Criminal Investigation Department claiming that Ochapa approached her and indicated his interest to marry, based on the promise, she believed that he was seriously in love with her.
Ochapa even introduced her as ‘his wife to be’ when they met his elder sister, and the couple had gone as far as setting a date for an introduction ceremony in the east.
“The accused also told the complainant to take him to her parents with a view to making his intention known and pick a date for marriage.
“Based on the relationship and trust, the complainant became convinced by Ochapa’s proposal and entrusted the sum of N2.9 million to him to buy her a RAV 4 car.
“The car was to make their wedding preparations easy but the accused collected the said money and disappeared to an unknown destination.
“When the complainant discovered that the accused was happily married with two kids, she reported the case to the police in 2012’’, the prosecutor said.
The prosecutor said the crimes are punishable under sections 388, 385, 312, 322 and 309 of Penal Code and the case was adjourned to May 6.

Former politicians convinced alien life exists and it has visited Earth

The Paradigm Research Group, whose goal is to end a 'government-imposed truth embargo surrounding an extraterrestrial presence,' paid six former lawmakers $20,000 apiece to preside over the 'Citizen Hearing on Disclosure.' Many of the political figures were convinced that some form of alien life had come to our planet.

We are not alone.
That is the conclusion of two former members of Congress who heard five days of testimony this week about supposed UFO landings and a government conspiracy to cover them up.
Asked if he now believes the government is suppressing the truth about visits by extraterrestrials, former Sen. Mike Gravel (D-Alaska) said, “Very much.”
"The testimony was convincing," he told the Daily News.
Former Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-Md.) said, ‘If everybody here is telling the truth, there is pretty compelling evidence that at least some [UFOs] didn't come from [Earth].’

Hugo Chavez Dies: Mourning In Venezuela

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has died at the age of 58 after losing his long battle with cancer. The country's vice president Nicolas Maduro fought back tears as he announced the death in a national television broadcast. He said Mr Chavez, who had been in power for 14 years, died at 4.25pm local time "after battling a tough illness for nearly two years". Amid fears of unrest, Mr Maduro also said the army and police had been deployed "to accompany and protect our people and guarantee the peace". Hundreds of Venezuelans poured into the streets of capital Caracas, with many crying, hugging each other, or shouting slogans of support. Clusters of women with tears streaming down their faces clung to each other and wept near the Miraflores presidential palace. Some wore T-shirts with slogans that read "Go forward commander!" Nearby, grime-faced men pumped their arms in the air while shouting "Long live Chavez! Long live Chavismo!" The country's foreign minister Elias Jaua declared seven days of national mourning and said a wake for Mr Chavez will be held until Friday, when his official funeral will take place.
