FG sacks management of Niger Delta Holding Company of Nigeria


Federal Government has sacked the management of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company led by James Abiodun Olotu pictured above. The sack is contained in a statement released by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal today June 10th. Chiedu Ugbo has been announced as the acting MD of the company. Read the statement below

England fan thrown into Marseilles harbour as football violence rages

Football fans clash in Marseille ahead of the opening game of the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament
An England fan was thrown into Marseilles harbour tonight after being surrounded by rival French supporters.
The fan, wearing an orange t-shirt, was seen lying on the floor being punched and kicked after being separated from his friends.
He was later pictured with a black eye swimming back to the shore having apparently being dumped into the water by locals.
It comes as French, Russian and English fans have been involved in a series of clashes in the French city.

French police fired tear gas last night in Marseille after violent clashes broke out between English fans and local football hooligans. 
Clashes erupted shortly after midnight in the French city's Old Port area where hundreds of travelling supporters had spent Thursday drinking. 
Local French youths are thought to have attacked England supporters who had gathered en masse outside the Queen Victoria pub, and O'Malley's, an Irish bar next door, ahead of the Three Lions first group game of Euro 2016 against Russia on Saturday.
The ultras posted messages on social media saying: 'Welcome to Marseille, England fans.' 
A group of England fans chanted: 'ISIS, where are you?'  
Marseille is a port city with a strong Islamic community and Muslims make up around a third of the population.
Two England fans have been arrested, one for assaulting a barman and the other for violent disorder.

But now, almost 12 months on, a picture of the girl sitting 'heartbroken' and alone at her birthday table has gone viral, after her cousin shared the photo on Facebook in the hope that Hallee won't have to celebrate alone ever again.

Violence flared between England fans and local youths in Marseille last night ahead of the team's Euro 2016 opener against Russia.
One Three Lions supporter suffered a serious head injury after being hit across the face with a wooden chair.
Two were arrested - and there are reports of drunken England fans chanting: 'ISIS, where are you?' which led to French Police using tear gas on the crowd.
Eyewitnesses said a group of local men attacked England fans as they drank outside a bar in the city's Old Port.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, being cradled by fellow England fans on a pavement.
Riot police swarmed to the scene on a side street close to the area where fans had been mingling peacefully.
Some Three Lions followers retaliated by attacking local shopkeepers and other youths in the area.

Nude Snapchat 'drove teenager to suicide after friends filmed her naked in shower'

A teenage girl was driven to suicide after bullies shared a naked video of her on Snapchat , her family claims.
Tovanna Holton, aged 15, was left devastated after girls filmed her nude in the shower and posted the clip on the social networking app for classmates to see, her mother says.
Levon Holton-Teamer says her daughter stole her gun from her handbag before locking herself in the bathroom of their home and shooting herself .
She was found dead in a pool of blood just three hours after the alleged incident happened, the New York Post reported.
Holton-Teamer told WFLA-TV: "I couldn’t get in the bathroom.

Mother reunites with son abducted 21 years ago


A California mother, Maria Mancia, whose son was abducted in 1995 reunited with him on Thursday after 21 years.
The last time Mancia saw her son was when he was just 18 months old and only had a single photo of him.
Her son, Steve Hernandez, who is now 22 years old, was found living in Puebla, Mexico, by investigators in the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Child Abduction Unit and on Thursday morning was brought to the U.S. to meet his mother for an emotional reunion.
"Now this anguish I've carried is gone now that I have my son back," Mancia said. "I spent 21 years looking for him not knowing anything."
