Declan Rice was so livid with Slovakia boss and foul-mouthed insult

Moments after the full-time whistle blew, Calzona angrily made his way to the officials in an attempt to confront referee Umut Meler as the Italian looked frustrated with the performance of the Turkish referee.

Having marched over to Meler, Rice apparently attempted to stop Calzona from angrily taking aim at the officials but was rebuffed in an aggressive manner by the Slovakia boss, who shoved the Englishman in the chest.

Rice didn't take too kindly to the push as he was led away by Ivan Toney and Aaron Ramsdale before he received a second push by a member of Calzona's coaching staff. The midfielder was spotted hurling insults at Calzona amid the altercation as he appeared to call the manager a 'bald c***', although this can't be confirmed.

Badminton player, 17, dies of cardiac arrest after collapsing during game

An "outstanding" 17-year-old Chinese badminton player died of cardiac arrest after collapsing on court during a tournament in Indonesia, officials said on Monday (Jul 1). Zhang Zhijie was suddenly taken ill during a match late Sunday against Japan's Kazuma Kawano at the Asia Junior Championships in Yogyakarta. The score was 11-11 in the first game when Zhang fell to the floor between points. The teenager received treatment at the venue and was rushed to hospital by ambulance, but passed away later that night after repeated efforts to resuscitate him failed. "Medical conclusions ... indicated that the victim experienced sudden cardiac arrest," Broto Happy, spokesman for the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI), told a press conference in Yogyakarta. Zhang's parents were heading to the city to retrieve his body, he said. The spokesman defended the actions of medical staff and local organisers after footage showed what appeared to be a hesitant response to the teenager falling face down on the court.

Millions of train passengers in uk hit by higher fares from today as operators axe popular super off-peak

The new fare structure, introduced by companies in the south in a bid to simplify pricing, abandons cheaper tickets and sets new evening peak hours.

It means higher prices will apply between 4 and 7pm, Monday to Friday for passengers travelling between Zones 1 and 9.

The rail operators affected by the change in fares will include c2c, Chiltern, Southeastern, London Northwestern Railway and South Western Railway.

Some Thameslink services which call at stations run by Southeastern will also be affected.

New changes explained
In preparation for the rollout of pay-as-you-go contactless ticketing, 53 stations in London and the southeast have made changes to their ticketing structure.

To keep the price as similar as possible, companies have made various changes which affect the price of train fares and tickets.

In simple terms, this means:

Single tickets now cost around half of a Return ticket
Evening peak times will apply 16:00 to 19:00, Monday to Friday, from or via a London station for journeys where pay as you go with contactless will be available
No more Super Off-Peak tickets available on these routes, however the price of Off-Peak tickets have been reduced to reflect this
The rail operators affected include c2c, Chiltern, Southeastern, London Northwestern Railway and South Western Railway. Some Thameslink services which call at stations run by Southeastern will also be affected

The new changes also include the roll out of single-leg pricing, which means a single fare will always be half the cost of a return. At present many return fares only cost marginally more than singles.

Many passengers will be caught out by the changes, London TravelWatch said, although the watchdog welcomed the simplification with additional concern about new evening peak times.

Commuters who board the first off-peak train into London but return between those hours 4-7pm will no longer be able to travel on an off-peak day return ticket.

Off-peak day travelcards, which include bus and Tube travel, will continue to be valid after 9.30am.

National Rail advice states: 'Depending on the day and time of your journey, it may be better value to buy two single tickets rather than a return ticket.

'For example, if you make a peak journey in one direction and an off-peak journey in the other, then an anytime single plus an off-peak single will be cheaper than an anytime day return.'

The axing of super off-peak tickets, which affects some weekday tickets and all weekend ones, will also hit families travelling into the capital on Saturdays and Sundays.

Even though it is a concept that is almost fifty years old, virtualization has significantly advanced and can satisfy multifaceted apps that are being developed. Fifty percent of servers run on virtual machines and it is predicted that by 2024, an estimated seventy percent of computers will run on VMs. So, while virtualization is becoming prevalent, the main concern is how to maintain safe levels of integrity and security.

King Charles III Won’t be Coronated Until 2023

King Charles III assumed the role of king of the United Kingdom upon the death of Queen Elizabeth on Sept. 8, 2022. Although he has since taken on her day-to-day tasks as monarch, an official coronation ceremony will be months away. Why won’t King Charles III be coronated until 2023?

There is no suspension of power when a monarch dies

Under the British constitution, a sovereign succeeds to the throne when their predecessor dies. There is no suspension of power according to Reuters.

The new monarch is proclaimed king or queen by a unique body called the Accession Council. This council includes Privy Council, several hundred selected royal advisers, including cabinet members. Bishops of the Church of England who sit in the House of Lords, called Bishops Spiritual and Temporal, and high commissioners from Commonwealth nations are also part of the council.

According to the royal famly’s official website, there is a strict protocol that must be followed ahead of an official coronation.

Can crypto make the world a better place?

The crypto world has never shied away from making big promises, but as the industry matures and its audience widens, now’s a good time to take a step back and look at how the space is delivering on its vision.

How venture capitalists should be incentivizing the creation of more publicly beneficial blockchain infrastructure, and what still needs to be built.

Whether technology is enough to solve some of the societal problems blockchain developers and advocates are frequently passionate about.

While mainstream business may still be a ways off from adopting virtual currencies to the same degree that it has embraced traditional fiat currency, there are still some ways in which the cryptocurrency space has impacted (or may impact in the days to come) the world at large. Here are a few of those benefits, according to Nasdaq.

TikTok breaks records as top grossing app

These new findings, in a report published today by Sensor Tower, see TikTok again becoming the highest-grossing app in the world even as the overall market is seeing a slight decline. However, the report does combine TikTok revenue with its Chinese version, known as Douyin — so it’s technically the revenue generated by the two apps offering the same feature set of short-form, vertical videos — not one.

TikTok’s global app along with Douyin on iOS together retained the position as the top-grossing non-game app across the App Store and Google Play combined, with approximately $914.4 million in consumer spending in the quarter.

Consumers reduced their mobile app spending in the third quarter of 2022 by roughly 5%, but the social video app TikTok just delivered another record-breaking quarter on this front. For the fourth straight quarter in a row, TikTok continued its streak as the app that has generated the most revenue in a quarter.

Kirk Franklin’s Son, Kerrion, Arrested In Connection To Murder Of Missing Woman

Kerrion Franklin, the estranged son of Kirk Franklin and reality star on Bad Boys: Los Angeles, has reportedly been arrested and is being held without bond. According to court documents from Beverly Hills Police, Kerrion was arrested around 7:30 a.m. PT on Sunday, April 10. He was allegedly driving a car belonging to a woman who was reported missing and is presumed to be dead. A gun was also discovered in the automobile, but the 33-year-old insists the firearm isn’t his and that he has no connection to the woman in question.

Larry Reid of Larry Reid Live—an Atlanta-based entertainment news talk show—reported that Kerrion was “wrongfully detained” and was initially stopped by local authorities because of his taillight. However, it appeared the arrest stemmed from charges filed in Texas, but Kerrion feels the charges were piled on after officers claimed he resisted arrest.

Kerrion spoke to Reid from jail. “I’m just keeping my mind positive. I really do aim to live a righteous lifestyle, all of this is unnecessary. I just want you guys to keep me in your prayers,” said Kerrion according to Reid.

‘Tinder Swindler’ Con Artist ‘Simon Leviev’ Banned From Dating App

The con man investigated in Netflix’s new documentary “The Tinder Swindler” has been banned from the dating app. Shimon Hayut allegedly met women on Tinder before swindling them for millions of dollars after catfishing them into believing his name was “Simon Leviev” and that he was the son of Israeli diamond tycoon Lev Leviev.

“We have conducted internal investigations and can confirm Simon Leviev is no longer active on Tinder under any of his known aliases,” Tinder said in a statement to Variety on Friday.

When the doc was released on Wednesday on Netflix, it reported that Hayut was still active on Tinder.

While Tinder has now banned him, he still has an account on Instagram with more than 200,000 followers. In an Instagram story posted on Friday, Hayut said he was preparing to tell his version of the story. However, when Variety went to his Instagram page on Friday afternoon, a notice reads that it is “no longer available.”

Understanding the Dynamix of the modern ‘Underground Rap’ Culture

Have you ever had a moment where you’re trying to describe an artist, and you call them an “underground rapper,” only for the conversation to turn into a debate about what “underground” actually means in 2021?

Some people may call Westside Gunn “underground” because of Griselda’s gritty, lyrical style, but he’s not exactly under the radar. He’s a former Shady Records signee who’s sat front row at Paris Fashion Week and boasts close relationships with superstars like Jay-Z, Drake, Kanye West, and Tyler, the Creator.

Jay Electonica’s music is considered to be in the lineage of underground cult heroes like Killah Priest and Dead Prez—but he just did a whole album with Jay-Z. MCs like R.A.P. Ferreira, Earl Sweatshirt, and Billy Woods create abstract, left-of-center work that would have found a natural home at a label like Rawkus Records in the ’90s, but the internet’s direct-to-consumer model now allows them to access millions of potential listeners in a way underground artists at indie labels have long had a hard time doing.

At one point, the underground rap community was an easily recognizable scene of acts and labels that couldn’t get the same distribution for their CDs that major label acts could. But the internet revolutionized music distribution at the click of a button. The digital evolution allowed artists to operate with a direct-to-consumer model, eliminating many of the corporate barriers that kept certain acts obscure. And now artists who make music that’s unabashedly crafted for mass appeal are utilizing the same stratagem as avant-garde artists who don’t even put hooks on their songs. And they’re all a TikTok trend away from a platinum single. Are they all “underground” in the same way? It’s difficult to explain exactly what the phrase means today.

Renowned A&R and executive Dante Ross thinks “underground rap means everything that’s not mainstream and has a somewhat determined ceiling.” Legendary indie rapper Slug says “the concept of underground rap is an identity thing [for] the advocate, the fan, all of us, to give us a sense of belonging.” Drew “Dru Ha” Friedman, co-founder of underground mainstay Duck Down Records, once saw the ‘90s underground scene as music where “you could just tell it wasn’t going to be mainstream.” Industry veteran Jonathan Tanners says underground rap was once “a cultural signifier of a code of conduct,” and believes now that the method of “how [music] reaches people has changed more so than some of the ideologies.”

Rising Charlotte rapper Mavi feels that the idea of underground rap is a more “descriptive than prescriptive” notion, and a “judgment made on the mix or the reach or style” of music. Griselda signee Rome Streetz calls the underground “the purest form of hip-hop, because it doesn’t really have any of those industry politics with it.” But Spotify’s Carl Chery is unsure if there’s even such a thing as underground rap in 2021. “Because when I think about the original definition and all the raps that made up underground rap in the ‘90s and the 2000s, the structure doesn’t exist now,” he explains.

t wasn’t always like that. In the ’90s, the underground rap scene was a network of artists, indie labels, DIY venues, zines, and college radio stations that operated below what Ross deemed the “ceiling” of mass distribution.

AFCON EXIT : Iwobi didn't deserve a red card. Ndidi got mashed but the referee didn't call a foul - Austin Eguavoen speaks after Super Eagles Afcon defeat by Tunisia

Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen has spoken about Nigeria's loss to Tunisia in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 which took place on Sunday January 22.

Recall that Alex Iwobi was shown a red card in the 64th minutes, after the referee upgraded his yellow card to a red one following a VAR Review for a bad attack.

Eguavoen in a post match conference, said that Iwobi didn't deserve to be sent out of the match since he was a first time offender. He also said the attack wasn't intentional so shouldn't have amounted to a red card.

The interim coach added that Wilfred Ndidi was mashed right in front of the referee but he didn't call a foul even though Ndidi complained.

Eguavoen also congratulated Tunisia for qualifying for the quater finals adding that the Super Eagles did their best even though they were knocked out by The Eagles of Carthage.

Microsoft says the Russian group behind the SolarWinds hack is now targeting 150 government agencies, NGOs, and think tanks with a massive phishing email campaign

The group behind the SolarWinds cybersecurity attack is now targeting government agencies, think tanks, consultants, and non-governmental organizations, Microsoft said on Thursday. Russian-based Nobelium targeted around 3,000 email accounts across more than 150 different organizations, Tom Burt, Microsoft vice president of customer security and trust, wrote in a blog post on Thursday.

Nobelium carried out these attacks by breaking into an email marketing account called Constant Contact, used by the United States Agency For International Development (USAID), Microsoft said. It then sent phishing emails that looked authentic but contained malicious content, Microsoft said. The tech giant's comments come weeks after a ransomware attack on Colonial Pipeline on May 7 shut the largest fuel pipeline network in the US for several days, disrupting the country's supply.

How To Scrambled Eggs In Your Microwave

Scrambled eggs are one of the best breakfasts out there. They’re delicious, good for you and dead-easy to make. But what if we told you there’s an even easier way of making scrambled eggs than by cooking them on the stove? Did you know that microwave scrambled eggs are a thing? Well, they absolutely are, so get ready to have your mind. Blown.

Microwaving your scrambled eggs could not be simpler. Seriously

All you have to do is crack your eggs into a microwaveable bowl and season with salt and pepper. Two eggs ought to be enough, but feel free to add more if you’re feeling super-hungry. This is a judgement-free zone.

Humans Could Live Up to 150 Years, New Research

The chorus of the theme song for the movie Fame, performed by actress Irene Cara, includes the line “I’m gonna live forever.” Cara was, of course, singing about the posthumous longevity that fame can confer. This hubris resonates in some corners of the world—especially the technology industry. But a literal expression of this hubris resonates in some corners of the world—especially in the technology industry. In Silicon Valley, immortality is sometimes elevated to the status of a corporeal goal. Plenty of big names in big tech have sunk funding into ventures to solve the problem of death as if it were just an upgrade to your smartphone’s operating system.

Yet what if death simply cannot be hacked and longevity will always have a ceiling, no matter what we do? Researchers have now taken on the question of how long we can live if, by some combination of serendipity and genetics, we do not die from cancer, heart disease or getting hit by a bus. They report that when omitting things that usually kill us, our body’s capacity to restore equilibrium to its myriad structural and metabolic systems after disruptions still fades with time. And even if we make it through life with few stressors, this incremental decline sets the maximum life span for humans at somewhere between 120 and 150 years. In the end, if the obvious hazards do not take our lives, this fundamental loss of resilience will do so, the researchers conclude in findings published on May 25 in Nature Communications.

A fatty liver (hepatic steatosis) refers to conditions that involve a buildup of fats in the liver, such as:

  • Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is not caused by consumption of alcohol
  • Nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL): there is fat buildup in the liver, but it is not inflamed
  • Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH): there is fat buildup in the liver, and it is inflamed
  • Alcohol-related fatty liver disease is caused by excessive consumption of alcohol
  • Most people with nonalcoholic and alcoholic fatty liver disease have no signs or symptoms.

Signs and symptoms in the early stages of alcoholic fatty liver disease may include:

  • Tiredness
  • Aches in the upper right side of the abdomen
  • Alcoholic fatty liver disease can progress to more severe forms including alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver.

Psychosis, Depression Tied to Neurodegeneration in Parkinson's

Investigation into neuropsychiatric symptoms in Parkinson’s disease (PD) is sparse and current drug development is mainly focused on the motor aspect of PD. The tight association of psychosis with impaired quality of life in PD, together with an important underreporting of this comorbid condition, contributes to its actual insufficient assessment and management.

Furthermore, the withdrawal from access to readily available treatment interventions is unacceptable and has an impact on PD prognosis. Despite its impact, to date no standardized guidelines to the adequate management of PD psychosis are available and they are therefore highly needed. Readily available knowledge on distinct clinical features as well as early biomarkers of psychosis in PD justifies the potential for its timely diagnosis and for early intervention strategies.

Also, its specific characterisation opens up the possibility of further understanding the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms giving rise to more targeted therapeutic developments in the nearer future. A literature review on the most recent knowledge with special focus on specific clinical subtypes and pathophysiological mechanisms will not only contribute to an up to date practical approach of this condition for the health care providers, but furthermore open up new ideas for research in the near future.

Movie : Zack Snyder on Creating the Most Terrifying Zombie in Army of the Dead

Back in 2004, the scariest take on zombies in movie history arrived on-screen by way of Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead. A remake of the George A. Romero classic, Dawn depicted zombies the way they were meant to be: a genuine threat. The zombies ran like Olympic sprinters and devoured flesh in frenzied attacks. "It made sense to me," Snyder tells Men's Health over Zoom. "If they can move a little, why can't they move on a lot?" Now, Snyder is asking a more terrifying question in Netflix's new Army of the Dead: if they can move a lot, why the hell can't they mobilize?

Starring Dave Bautista, Omari Hardwick, and Tig Notaro (and directed, co-written, and produced by Snyder), the "zombie heist" film introduces a brand new category of zombie—faster, smarter, and more cunning. They've taken over Las Vegas and they're looking to zombify more humans. We spoke to Snyder about the origin story of his zombie movie, plans for a prequel series, and how real-life politics inspired scenes in the film.

Hi Zack. I really enjoyed Army because the zombies aren't just eating people. Do you think their intent is to take over the world?

It's funny. Zeus is selective about who he turns into an Alpha. They bring him Cummings, and he's like, okay, Cummings is fine. But also, when we see the zombie baby, I think the implication is that they no longer need us to procreate. In my mind, they're just there to replace us.

Herbal and Dietary Weight Loss Supplements: Is There Any Evidence They Work ?

Although the use of some herbal and dietary supplements show statistically greater weight loss than placebo, it is not sufficient to benefit health, according to the joint findings of two systematic reviews, which are the first to comprehensively include all available herbal and dietary supplements for weight loss for over 15 years.

"There is currently insufficient evidence to recommend any of the supplements we included in our reviews for weight loss," stressed lead author Erica Bessell, a PhD candidate from the University of Sydney in Australia.

She added that some products with promising results warrant further investigation in well-conducted randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to determine their efficacy and safety. But, overall, she would like to see a reduction in the number of products on the market without evidence to support their efficacy, "because, as we found, many of the products currently marketed for weight loss just do not work."

"Herbal and dietary supplements might seem like a quick-fix solution to weight problems, but people need to be aware of how little we actually know about them," she told Medscape Medical News in an interview. "We would recommend that people trying to lose weight should save their money and seek out evidence-based care instead," she emphasized. The research was presented as two posters at this year's online European Congress on Obesity (ECO).

BUG SPREADS Indian Covid variant found in 40% of England and is now dominant in 23 areas

THE Indian Covid variant has been found in 40 per cent of local authorities in England. It comes as the B.1.617.2 variant is now dominant in 23 areas, data from the Sanger Institute revealed.Health Secretary Matt Hancock said yesterday the variant is now the dominant virus in hotspots such as Bolton and Blackburn with Darwen.

Both Sefton and Bedford have been labelled as areas of concern, and figures show the variant accounts for eight in ten cases of hospital admissions. This is also the case in Bolton, Blackburn, Chelmsford and Croydon. The variant is also dominant in several London boroughs - accounting for more than half of all positive test results in Hillingdon, Brent, Camden, Hounslow and Greenwich. Others parts of the country largely testing positive for the mutation include Nottingham, West Lancashire, Oadby and Wigston in Leicester, Stevenage, South Northamptonshire, Broxbourne, Bromley, Dartford, Sevenoaks, Canterbury, Rushmoor and Hart. Surge testing and extended opening hours at jab centres have been enforced in these spots to the help prevent the spread.

The latest Sanger Institute data from May 8 shows that extra measures such as these could be needed in many more areas of the country.

Across the UK there have been 2,323 cases of the variant, four times the 520 recorded ten days prior. Today Boris Johnson vowed to take "very, very draconian action" to stamp out the alarming Covid mutations - but stressed the roadmap remains on track.

COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effects, Explained

With the Pfizer BioNTech BNT162b2 vaccine and Moderna’s mRNA-1273 vaccine currently being administered to select groups, the buzz around the COVID-19 vaccine is palpable. Public response to the idea of a vaccine has also grown more favourable, with a national survey from PEW Research Center indicating that 60 per cent of Americans would definitely or probably get a vaccine for the coronavirus, up from 51 per cent in September. Yet among many people who are in line to get the vaccine, those who aren’t yet eligible, and those who are hesitant, there are questions about exactly what the side effects of those vaccines are, and how often they occur. Collectively, the companies’ clinical trials have tested more than 73,000 people and separately have produced vaccines with over 90 per cent effectiveness. The vaccines teach your body to produce an immune response, and they do have the potential for short-term side effects.

Shaking of Shenzhen skyscraper sends people fleeing, leading to evacuation and official investigation

A landmark skyscraper in downtown Shenzhen started to shake for unknown reasons on Tuesday afternoon, leading to an emergency evacuation of thousands of people.

The Shenzhen Emergency Management Bureau said it had received reports that the SEG Plaza, a 20-year-old, 79-floor building with a height close to the Empire State Building in New York, was wobbling and that relevant authorities were still investigating the matter.

The bureau said that there had not been an earthquake in the city when the shaking took place at around 1:50pm. The local weather report also showed a wind speed in Shenzhen of around 27km per hour, a speed unlikely to cause the shaking of high-rise buildings.

The SEG Plaza is the fifth-tallest building in China’s boomtown and is at the heart of Huaqiangbei, the world’s largest bazaar of hardware and electronics components.

Huge Chinese Rocket Falls to Earth over Arabian Peninsula

The Chinese rocket has come down. The 23-ton core stage of a Long March 5B booster crashed back to Earth Saturday night (May 8), ending 10 controversial days aloft that captured the attention of the world and started a wider conversation about orbital debris and responsible spacefaring. The Long March 5B reentered the atmosphere over the Arabian Peninsula at about 10:15 p.m. EDT Saturday (0215 GMT on Sunday, May 9), according to U.S. Space Command.

“It’s unknown if the debris impacted land or water,” Space Command officials wrote in a brief update Saturday night. But some analysts have identified a watery grave for any rocket hunks that managed to survive the intense heat of re-entry. For example, Space-Track.org stated on Twitter Saturday night that the Long March “fell into the Indian Ocean north of the Maldives," an idyllic island chain off India’s southwest coast.

The Long March 5B launched the core module for China’s new space station on April 28. Instead of ditching safely into the ocean when its work was done, however, the rocket’s first stage reached orbit, becoming a piece of space junk just waiting to crash down on its home planet after feeling enough atmospheric drag. And this was not an isolated incident. The same thing happened last year with a different Long March 5B core, which fell uncontrolled over the Atlantic Ocean off the West African coast. Some large pieces of debris from that reentry apparently made it to the ground in the nation of Ivory Coast, though no injuries were reported.

China Lands Tianwen-1 Rover on Mars in a Major First for the Country

China says it safely landed a spacecraft on Mars—for the first time in its history and in its first attempt, becoming the only other nation besides the U.S. to achieve such a feat. Its Zhurong rover, named after a god of fire from Chinese folklore, successfully touched down in Utopia Planitia around 7:11 P.M. EST as part of the Tianwen-1 mission, according to the China National Space Administration. Soon the rover should drive down the ramp of its landing platform, ready to explore its unearthly surroundings. If there was any doubt about China’s spacefaring prowess, it has been dispelled now that the nation has added interplanetary landings as a coveted notch on its belt “Mars is hard,” says Roger Launius, NASA’s former chief historian. “This is a really big deal.”

Tianwen-1 was launched in July 2020 as part of a summer Martian armada that also included launches of NASA’s Perseverance rover and the United Arab Emirates’ Hope orbiter. All three missions arrived at Mars in February. But while Perseverance descended straight to the surface, Tianwen-1 instead entered an elliptical orbit around the planet to give its scientists a god’s-eye view for scouting out their planned landing site in Utopia Planitia, an immense impact basin on Mars. “China does not have its own detailed Mars maps,” says Brian Harvey, a writer who covers the country’s space program. At least, that was the case until today, when Tianwen-1’s controllers decided they had seen enough to confidently initiate the spacecraft’s daring descent.

Packed inside a cone-shaped protective shell, Zhurong and its rocket-powered landing platform detached from the orbiter, descended toward Mars and began the fiery plunge through the planet’s upper atmosphere. After jettisoning its protective shell lower in the atmosphere, the spacecraft unfurled parachutes to slow its descent before riding thrusters down to a gentle landing on the surface. This was “very similar” to the powered landings China has used in its Chang’e missions to Earth’s moon, says Andrew Jones, a space journalist who follows the Chinese space program. The latest of those missions returned samples to Earth in 2020.

There's a lack of research and awareness, which influences endometrial cancer rates

Uterine cancer is deemed to be the most common gynecologic malignancy in developed countries. Despite all the breakthroughs, the issue has received considerable critical attention as the mortality rate for uterine cancer is on the rise. This elevated incidence could be multifactorial (Siegel et al., 2012; Niyazi et al., 2016). The raised prevalence of endometrial cancer in US-born generations of Chinese and Japanese Americans when compared with their counterparts who were born in Asia demonstrated that the exposure to some environmental features or lifestyle modifications may alter the race-specific factors of this malignancy (Frumovitz et al., 2014).

The association of endometrial cancer with such dominant characteristics as age, BMI, race, familial history, and polycystic ovary, diet, physical activity, smoking, parity, breastfeeding, birth rate, hormone-replacement therapy, hypertension, diabetes, histology, the socio-economic status, and the exposure to infertility treatment are still controversial in terms of incidence and mortality (Brinton et al., 1992; Salazar-Martínez et al., 2000; Soliman et al., 2005; Beral et al., 2007; Zhou et al., 2008; Furness et al., 2009; Liat et al., 2012; Liao et al., 2014; Filomeno et al., 2015). Several attempts have been made to distinguish the contributing factors behind Type I endometrial cancer from Type II. Flix et al. (2010) concluded that type 2 was associated with excess age, nonwhite race, and the history of additional primary tumors.

Renehan et al. (2008) also recognized that excess adiposity played a critical role. Despite all the reported data, much uncertainty still exists about the factors associated with uterine cancers in the developing and less developed countries. The limited knowledge of the known symptoms, the late diagnosis at a higher-grade phase of the disease, the poorer quality of life, and the impaired socioeconomic status make women in developing and less developed counties more vulnerable to endometrial cancer (Soliman et al., 2008; Hirth et al., 2016). Research on the issue has been mostly limited to imperfect statistics from women who were involved with uterine malignancy prior to higher-grade stages, patients who died of cancer at home and those with misdiagnosis of metastases from organs adjacent to uterine. Accordingly, these women suffer disproportionately from adverse disease-specific prognosis of endometrial malignancy.
