BREAKING NEWS: Hijacker forced EgyptAir jet to land in Cyprus 'so he can deliver a letter to his ex-wife' and demand asylum it is revealed as four passengers are still held on plane

The man holding 11 people, including four 'foreigners', hostage on an Egyptian passenger jet at a Cypriot airport after hijacking the plane with a suicide vest is demanding to give a letter to his ex.

Ibrahim Samaha, 27, has asked negotiators for  political asylum - and to be able to give a letter to his Cypriot ex-wife, local state television reports.

EgyptAir MS181, carrying 62 people, including eight Brits and ten Americans, was en-route from Alexandria to Cairo when it was hijacked, forcing it to land at Larnaca airport, Cyprus. 

Negotiations with the hijacker has since resulted in the release of a majority of the hostages, except for the crew and four foreigners, EgyptAir said.  

The plane diverted to Cyprus after a man on the flight threatened to detonate a belt or a vest containing explosives, Egypt's civil aviation authority said. 

Egyptian newsite Youm7 is reporting that the attacker told the pilot to fly to Turkey but was told they did not have enough fuel.

Gamers Are Going Full Sherlock on Alleged Photos of Nintendo’s New Console

Photos purportedly showing the controller of Nintendo’s next console, codenamed “NX,” have “leaked” onto the internet, and internet supersleuths have been working overtime to determine if they’re legit.

Images surfaced earlier this week, posted by Redditor Perkele37, that were supposedly of the controller for a developer kit of the NX. The controller itself looks like a patent that Nintendo grabbed last year, showing a device with a big screen and no physical buttons.

The folks on Reddit have been hard at work ever since the images were posted, trying both to determine whether they’re the real thing, and where they might have come from. That’s led to dissections of the images showing the controllers. Redditors looked at the keyboard that’s partially in the shot and determined it’s showing the configuration of keys used in Sweden. And then someone compared the tree reflected on the right side of the image to a photo of the building that houses Sweden-based studio Massive, the folks behind Tom Clancy’s The Division.

Codeine abuse spikes in women, teens across North

Once the preserve of hardened criminals, abuse of drugs like codeine and others is on the rise, especially among married women in the North, as well as teenagers. Daily Trust takes a look at the disturbing trend.
Fadeela, 18, is helpless. She is addicted to Tutolin, a codeine-containing cough syrup she consumes at least twice a day. Two bottles per day is what her system demands or it may just shut down. This has done great harm to her life already. She has since dropped out of school and now spends time at Mami Market in the city of Sokoto.
At Mami Market, both male and female addicts - mostly in their twenties - have found a haven where they freely indulge in using a variety of substances to get ‘high’. But Fadeela is fed-up with the control it has over her. It has estranged her family from her. “If you can help me out of this life, I will ever be grateful,” she says.
Recently, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) decried the increasing involvement of married women in drug abuse. The Assistant Superintendant in charge of exhibits at the Sokoto State Command, Ali Baba Mustapha, pointed out at the Jigawa Day celebration that women take cough syrups that contain codeine - an opiate used to treat pain - more than any segment of the society, believing erroneously that it will enhance their sexual appetite. He warned that if unchecked, the trend could lead to marital problems and even divorce. There are, also, attendant health problems.
Daily Trust investigations revealed that the stability of some homes is already being affected by this trend. There is the case of a new bride whose husband discovered under their bed, a carton of Tutolin, usually abused to induce intoxication and supposedly boost sexual drive. It was gathered that the groom took both his wife and the drugs to her parents’ house in anger. Even before then, during the wedding, the loss of a necklace had prompted a search that led to the astonishing discovery that some of the women at the occasion, mostly housewives, had varieties of cough syrup containing codeine in their handbags.

Isis 'crucifies Catholic Priest on Good Friday' after Yemen kidnapping

An Indian Catholic priest is believed to have been crucified by Isis on Good Friday. 

There were fears of the Islamist group's intention to kill Tom Uzhunnalil, who was believed have been kidnapped, after rumours circulated online suggesting he may be crucified around the holy festival.

Mr Uzhunnalil is believed to have been taken from a retirement home in Yemen during an attack by Islamic extremists on 4 March. 

The group shot 16 people - including four nuns - during the incident at the home in Aden, which is run by missionaries, the International Business Times India said.

Donald Trump says UK and Europe are not safe places following Brussels terror attacks

Donal Trump has said Britain and Europe are "not safe places" following the terror attacks, which killed at least 31 people in Brussels on Tuesday. 

The twin blasts at the Zaventeem airport and at the Maalbeek Metro station in the heart of the Belgian capital left more than 360 people injured, with 62 people still in critical conditions. 

Speaking five days after the attack,  US Republican president front-runner said Europe has lots of "very, very severe" problems and that even America is not a safe place for Americans. 

I don't think Bruss - England or I don't think that Europe is a safe place. No, I don't. I think there are a lot of problems in Europe that are very, very severe," he told ABC. 

"When you look at Brussels, when you look at the way they've handled things from law enforcement standpoints, when you look at Paris, when you look at so many other places, no, it's not (safe)".

6 rules to actually look good in a suit

Sometimes, it can seem like we at Business Insider are a little obsessive about fit when it comes to suits.
But it really is the most important thing when wearing a suit (besides confidence, but that's more a byproduct than a requirement).
For a suit to look as good as possible, all these different parts of the perfect fit need to come together just so, presented as a cohesive package.
We've decided it's high time to enumerate all these intricacies of fit one by one, as modeled on Eddie Redmayne, the best man wearing suits alive today.
Redmayne has fit down pat, so there's no better teacher.
Let's take it from the top and break it down:
Shoulder alignment.
This is the most important thing you're checking to see if a suit jacket fits correctly. Everything else can be tailored except the shoulders.
 The jacket's shoulder should end before the end of your actual shoulder.
A good way to test this is by leaning against a wall. Ifthe shoulder pad of your jacket hits before your actual shoulder, it's too big. Redmayne's jacket fits well.
High armholes. Armholes are the subtle difference between a well-fitting modern jacket and a poorly fitting, more conservatively cut jacket.
You want them high, but with no restriction of movement. When you move your arm, your whole jacket shouldn't move.
This is another thing can't be tailored, and you must check before purchase. You can tell by the fit of Redmayne's jacket it has high armholes.

The bouncy castle was sent soaring so high it cleared a row of caravans parked nearby as families watched on in horror.

Summer was on an Easter weekend trip to see relatives when, as she played alone on the Toy Story-themed castle, the 25mph winds ripped its moorings from the ground and sent the whole structure into the air.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, little Summer died in hospital from her injuries.

Two women, a man and three Rottweilers found dead inside horror home as police search for clues

Police forensics teams are scouring a horror home tonight after finding the dead bodies of two women, a man and three Rottweilers.

Officers in white outfits have been seen filing into the home in search of clues after the gruesome discovery was made earlier today.

Two women, who were thought to be in a relationship, a man and three dogs, were thought to have been lying dead in the property for more than 24 hours before being discovered.

The two women were found in the living room.

The body of the male - believed to be a friend or lodger aged around 18 - was found in the kitchen.

There had been a "small fire" in the property but the blaze had gone out before fire fighters and police were alerted.

Mother-of-three missing for 42 years found alive and well after decades hiding from family

A mother-of-three who vanished 42 years ago has been found alive and living under a false name.

Lula Ann Gillespie-Miller admitted her identity after being tracked down in Texas by police looking into her case.

She had been missing since leaving home in 1974 shortly after giving birth to her third child. 

Then aged 28, she had decided she was too young to be a mother and signed custody of her children over to her parents. 

Indiana State Police Detective Sgt. Scott Jarvis began looking for her in January 2014 after receiving a request from the Doe Network – a volunteer organisation which helps hunt for unidentified and missing people. 

The detective had arranged for a body buried in an unmarked grave to be exhumed and DNA analysis to be carried out. 

But while this was underway, Sgt Jarvis began to follow the trail of a women with similarities to Ms Gillespie-Miller who was living in Texas.

Missing New York siblings Sascha and Alexander Pinczowski whose cell phone went dead while they were talking to their mom at the airport when that terror bomb blast went off on Tuesday have been confirmed dead on Friday. They were named as part of the 31 killed in the Brussels terror attacks.
The heartbreaking news ended a desperate search that started the moment their cell call from the airport to their mom in Holland sounded like it “went underwater” and then went dead, James Cain, whose daughter Cameron was engaged to Alexander, told the Daily News.

Japan kills 200 pregnant whales

Japan has killed more than 200 pregnant whales, it has been reported.

According to the country’s Institute for Cetacean Research, 333 minke whales have been killed including more than 200 pregnant females as part of this year’s Antarctic whale hunt, the National Geographic reports.

It said that four ships returned from a 100-day expedition this week as part of a project aiming to conduct 'scientific' whaling activities.

The legitimacy of Japan's programme has been challenged previously by the International Court of Justice in 2014.

The woman, who was in her 50s, fell around 70 metres to her death at Snowdonia National Park

A woman fell 200ft to her death from a mountain in Snowdonia while walking with her husband yesterday.

The couple were coming down the western face of Tryfan in Wales when they went in the wrong direction and started descending the dangerous Notch gully nearby.

A spokesman for Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue said the woman, who was in her 50s, fell around 70 metres to her death.

Her distraught husband called the emergency services and 15 members of the Ogwen team, six members of Llanberis Mountain Rescue and four volunteers from the Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue team searched for the couple.

Ivory Coast hotel shooting: Al-Qaeda claim responsibility for attack which left at least 16 dead

Al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the attack that left 16 people dead at a popular beach in Ivory Coast today.

Fourteen civilians and two special forces soldiers were shot by gunmen armed with Kalashnikovs and wearing balaclavas.

Four Europeans, including a French national, and a five-year-old child were reportedly among those slaughtered on the sand bordering three hotels in the coastal city Grand-Bassam.

The North African branch of the terrorist organisation posted a statement online claiming it was behind the deadly assault on Sunday.

"In a message posted on its Telegram channels on March 13, 2016, the group reported that three `heroes' from its group were able to storm the resort," according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors online communications by militant groups.

President Alassane Ouattara confirmed that at least 16 people were shot dead by six gunmen at the weekend retreat, said to be favoured by Westerners, during a visit to the site.

The Côte d'Ivoire leader said: "Six attackers came onto the beach in Bassam this afternoon... We have 14 civilians and two special forces soldiers who were unfortunately killed."

A discovery of giant underwater craters at the bottom of Barents Sea could offer a viable explanation to the disappearance of ships in the Bermuda Triangle.
Scientists have found craters up to half a mile wide and 150ft deep, believed to have been caused by build-ups of methane off the coast of natural gas-rich Norway.
The methane would have leaked from deposits of natural gas further below the surface and created cavities which finally bursts, scientists say.
