Another Plane Crash Averted At The Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja
Another air disaster was averted at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja on Monday as a Med-View Airlines aircraft from Lagos suddenly took to the air again at the point of landing in Abuja.
The pilot told the passengers that he took to the air again to avoid a collision with another aircraft on the tarmac.
The airline Flight VL2104 took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at noon and was scheduled to land in Abuja at about 1.05pm.

The pilot had already announced final descent into Abuja and asked all passengers and cabin crew to fasten their seat belts but the pilot suddenly took off to the air again with barely 30 seconds to touch ground.
The plane had 150 passengers on board.
After about three minutes of gaining altitude, the pilot announced that he decided to take off again to avoid colliding with an aircraft that was on ground.
He said that after he had been granted clearance to land, it was later discovered that the other aircraft was not fast enough, hence his decision to take off.
The aircraft hovered for another 20 minutes in the air before finally landing at about 1.30pm.
While the drama lasted, the passengers were panic-stricken, especially when the plane entered into turbulent weather on air.
Source said that among the passengers were five different complete families.
One of the passengers, a nursing mother, who was breastfeeding her son at the time the pilot took off again reportedly withdrew the breast from the boy’s mouth and started praying profusely while the baby’s cry rented the air.
When the plane finally landed, the passengers struggled to disembark.
“Are you still sitting down? Let me rush down in case it will suddenly take off again,” a middle-aged man was heard teasing one of his co-passengers.

Christy Essien Igbokwe Memorial Foundation
We all know Mummy Christy was a very charitable person who strongly believed that service to humanity is service to God. Before her death she planned to launch her foundation ‘The Christy Essien Igbokwe Foundation’ and release her 11th album on the 11th day of November 2011 (11/11/11). She was able to achieve some studio recording for this well anticipated album and we intend to keep her dream and vision alive by launching it alongside her greatest hits. Thus we came up with programs to drive her legacy – and to emphasise what she lived for.
This will be achieved through a world class event where tribute will be paid to her, her new album “ALL OF A SUDDEN” will be launched along with her GREATEST HITS, and the grand launch of the Christy Essien Igbokwe Memorial Foundation. This event will take place on the 17th of November 2013 at Intercontinental Hotel Lagos. Red carpet will start by 4pm main event 6pm. We would like to celebrate her art, her style and her charitable gesture to humanity. Thus the event is tagged ‘CHRISTY HER HEART ART AND STYLE’.
Since the event is strictly by invitation we're giving out invitations to fans via an essay competition tagged "How well do you know the Lady of Songs" where they'll log into the official website http://www. christyessienigbokwememorialfo undation.com and upload their 250 word essay to win Invites, Cds and other consolation prizes. Our Tvc for both the Official Launch and the essay competion are already on youtube, these are the links

Lady Gaga Storms London In Ghost Halloween Costume (Photos)
Oct 28, 2013 – Lady Gaga Storms London Event In Ghost Halloween Dress (Pictures)
This is what American singer Lady Gaga wore to an event in London on Friday.
Exactly 3 years after the Bad Romance singer claims she’s being haunted by a male ghost named Ryan, she has made her first public appearance looking exactly like a ghost.
In November 2010, Lady Gaga told a UK Newspaper that she’s being haunted by a male spirit named Ryan who travels the world with her.
She claims she’s very terrified by the ghost Ryan because he refused to leave her alone.
Since then, Lady Gaga has spent tons of money to get rid of the “annoying” ghost spirit but to no avail.
Since then, Lady Gaga has spent tons of money to get rid of the “annoying” ghost spirit but to no avail.
So in London on Friday, Lady Gaga stormed an event dressed in white ghost costume.
She arrived in the United Kingdom dressed in a scary Miss Havisham Style dress with no underwear and shoes.
She arrived in the United Kingdom dressed in a scary Miss Havisham Style dress with no underwear and shoes.
Not keen to follow in other peoples’ fashion footsteps, Gaga boldly ignores the trend for big, bushy eyebrows a la Cara Delevingne and opted instead, for bleach-blonde brows.
The tattooed singer accessorized her bizarre look by painting her hands and feet white, but Gaga mustn’t of had any shoes that complimented her spooky chic ensemble – so she decided to go barefoot on the dirty London pavement.
At the end of the show, she surprised her audience when she suddenly threw off her gown to reveal her nakedness live on stage.
What a weird lady! someone please tell her it’s a bit too early for Halloween.

Female suicide bomber strikes bus in Russia, killing 6, injuring about 30
In this image provided by Emergency Ministry press service, Volgograd branch, a damaged bus is examined by experts in Volgograd, Monday, Oct. 21, 2013. The blast was caused by "an unspecified explosive device," the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said in a statement. A total of 40 people were on the city bus at the time of the explosion, the Emergency Situations Ministry said. At least five died and 17 people were injured. MOSCOW - A female suicide bomber blew herself up on a city bus in southern Russia on Monday, killing six people and injuring about 30, officials said. The attack in Volgograd added to security fears ahead of the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The suspected bomber was from the North Caucasus, a region in southern Russia where an Islamic insurgency has been simmering for more than a decade following two separatist wars in Chechnya. A local official said the suspected attacker was married to an Islamic militant.
Volgograd lies 650 kilometres (400 miles) to the northeast of the North Caucasus, while Sochi sits to the west along the Black Sea.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for Monday's suicide bombing, but it was the first outside the North Caucasus since Chechen rebel leader Doku Umarov three months ago called for a resumption of attacks on civilians and urged militants to target the Sochi Games.
Russia in past years has seen a series of terror attacks on buses, airplanes and other forms of transportation, some of them carried out by suicide bombers. The last suicide attack on a bus was in 2008.
Twin bombings on the Moscow subway in March 2010 carried out by female suicide bombers killed 40 people and wounded more than 120. In January 2011, a male suicide bomber struck Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, killing 37 people and injuring more than 180.
Umarov, who had claimed responsibility for the 2010 and 2011 bombings, ordered a halt to attacks on civilian targets because of the mass street protests against President Vladimir Putin in the winter of 2011-12. He reversed that order in July.
The suspected bomber was from Dagestan, one of the predominantly Muslim republics in the North Caucasus, said Vladimir Markin, the spokesman for the Investigative Committee, Russia's main investigative agency.
In a statement, he identified the suspect as 30-year-old Naida Asiyalova. Russian state television showed pictures of Asiyalova's passport.
In Dagestan, the centre of the insurgency, bombings and shootings occur almost daily. Most of them target law enforcement officers, not civilians. The Tsarnaev brothers, accused of carrying out the Boston Marathon bombings, have roots in Dagestan and Chechnya.
Rasul Temirbekov, a spokesman for the Investigative Committee's branch in Dagestan, said the suspected bomber was married to an ethnic Russian, Dmitry Sokolov, whom she had met while both were university students in Moscow.
She encouraged him to become a rebel, and he quickly gained a reputation as an expert in explosives, Temirbekov said. Sokolov, whose nom de guerre is Abdull Jabbar, has been on the run.
Temirbekov said that the suspected suicide bomber had a fatal bone illness.
Video broadcast on state Rossiya television showed that Monday's explosion occurred as the bus was moving in the far right lane of a divided six-lane road. The video, taken from a vehicle travelling behind the bus, showed a burst of flame and grey smoke. Fragments of what appeared to be window frames and other parts of the bus were left scattered across the road.
When the bus came to a stop, the video showed many passengers jumping out.
Markin said seven people died, including the suicide bomber, and 33 asked for medical assistance, 28 of whom were hospitalized. Emergency officials said about 40 people were on the bus.
Abuja snubs Wizkid, Loses Fan Base Over Pride
That pride goes before a fall is actually true, this came into fore recently during the young talent concert in Abuja tagged 'Wizkid Live Abuja Invasion' as not many people turned out for the concert.
Surprisingly, what we thought would turn out to be a blast, less than half of the estimated crowd showed up at event. People around were of the opinion that the Wizkid's arrogance has become to the point of being annoying reasons the crowd failed to show up.
The show was meant to kick off at 5 pm but was found empty as at 9:30 pm Nigerian time.
Those who went to the performance were shocked with the number of people present at the highly publicized concert with Wizkid headlined with guest appearances from label mates Skales, Niyola, Shaydee.
I hope he realises that time is the only difference between up and down!

Policeman Brutalises eight-year-old Daughter Over Witchcraft
A police sergeant from Ibiaku community, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ita Ayamba, has allegedly brutalised and abandoned his eight-year-old daughter, Goodness Ayamba over her refusal to confess to witchcraft.
Ita was said to have paraded the little girl along the village streets naked, declaring that Goodness was responsible for his retrogression in the Police Force.
A source and relative of Ita, told our correspondent in Eket on Saturday, on the condition of anonymity, that the police sergeant tortured his daughter for several hours in an attempt to extract a confession of being a witch from her.
He said, “When he discovered that Goodness had passed out, Ita abandoned her, having hit her chest with the butt of his AK 47 Rifle.

“None of us could go close to Ita to rescue Goodness as he had threatened to shoot anyone that dared.
“I don’t see how a child of that age could become a clog in the wheel of her father’s progress in the Police Force. We need to tell each other the truth. Progress in one’s career depends on the efforts one has made academically.”
PUNCH Metro gathered that Ita had divorced Goodness’ mother some years back. He was said to have remarried almost immediately, leaving three children including Goodness with their grandmother.
A resident of the area, Okon Ekong, said that on July 28, 2013 when the children were on holiday, Ita had requested custody of them. He was said to be at his new station in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, at the time
.
Ita’s former wife, Mrs. Anietie Ayamba, allegedly heeded his request and took the children to him. Ekong said that the children’s stepmother made life miserable for them.
He said, “It was during their stay in Port Hracourt, that their stepmother took the children to a Pentecostal church. Goodness was accused of witchcraft at the church. Her stepmother was told that Goodness was the person responsible for their father’s non-rising profile in the force.
“The father who was also in the church began to beat and kick Goodness in a bid to extract a confession about her witchcraft.”
When PUNCH Metro visited Immanuel Hospital, Eket, Eket LGA, on Saturday, where Goodness was taken to for medical attention, it was gathered that she had been admitted at the intensive care unit of the children’s ward.
Nurses at the hospital said Goodness’ condition was stable but that her bones and chest cavity had been badly damaged.
A group of women lawyers under the aegis of Federation of International Women Lawyers have said that they would do everything within their power to ensure that Ita was brought to justice.
The state director of the organisation, Mrs. Mary Udonsek, stated that the women would not continue to sit back and allow men maltreat their children on the guise of labelling them witches.
Ita, said to be working at Trans Amadi Police Station, Port Harcourt, Rivers State had allegedly not been to Ibiaku, Mkpat Enin LGA since the incident.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Etim Dickson, said the Rivers State Police Command would be contacted about the matter.
He said, “Messages have been sent across to police area commands in Oron and Ikot Ekpene so that Ita will not have any place to hide once he is in the state.”

Fifa Security Deadline For Egypt Looms As Car Bomb Explodes, Protests In Cairo
With FIFA deadline for security guarantees from Egypt over Cairo's hosting of Ghana in the second-leg of their World Cup playoff just eight days away, a car bomb has exploded in the north African country targeting the military and police.
The first day of study at Al-Azhar University, scores of students staged protests to denounce what they call the “military coup” against the elected president as FIFA monitors the situation.
FIFA has given Egypt the deadline of 28 October to provide security guarantees before the second-leg of the match will be played in the country but the violence looks to be on the rise.
This comes in the wake of terrorists targeting Nigeria's World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia last week which could have been deadly.
Ghana had complained over the growing insecurity in Egypt and expressed fears that the match to be played on 19 November could be a subject of attack by terrorists.
Even though the Egyptian FA says it is capable of hosting the match, the security situations looks worrying as the security authorities are the subject of attack by the insurgents.
Their presence during the match itself could be a security threat as they could be attacked during the match which could deaths.
A car rigged with explosives detonated outside a military intelligence headquarters in Ismailia on Saturday, wounding at least six military personnel and highlighting the rise in militant attacks on security forces.
The assaults, though still apparently uncoordinated, are increasingly brazen and sophisticated, raising fears of an insurgency that could plunge Egypt into turmoil just 2 ½ years after its pro-democracy uprising.
Saturday's powerful bomb exploded outside the local military intelligence headquarters and next to a busy square near Ismailia's downtown, sending black clouds of smoke into the air and burning several other cars nearby.
No group has claimed responsibility, but al Qaeda-linked Islamist militants in the largely lawless Sinai region have stepped up attacks on soldiers and police since the army toppled Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July. The militants have on occasion extended their campaign into major cities.
Egypt's turmoil has intensified since the army deposed Mursi and installed a new government, saying it was responding to mass protests against the freely elected president's rule.
Mursi's Muslim Brotherhood, once again outlawed in Egypt as it was under ousted President Hosni Mubarak, called the Islamist leader's overthrow a military coup.
Security forces cracked down on the group on August 14, crushing two protest camps in Cairo and killing hundreds of people. Many Brotherhood members have been arrested. Mursi and other Brotherhood leaders face charges of inciting violence.
The Brotherhood, Egypt's oldest and biggest Islamist group, rejects the charges and denies any links with militant activity.
Army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the man who toppled Mursi, was quoted by state media on Saturday as saying army and police forces were working together to “confront terrorism and all those who try to create problems and incite strife between the children of this nation”.
