Nas Discusses Tupac & Upcoming Album, "Life Is Good"

Nas reflects on his relationship with Tupac, as well as his next solo project, "Life is Good."

Before Tupac Shakur passed away, one of the many New York emcees with whom he beefed was Queensbridge native Nas.

During a discussion helmed by Steve Stoute at SXSW in Houston, Texas, Nas discussed hsi relationship with the late West Coast legend.

"Pac's one of my favorite artists," began Nas. "We saw each other...really got to the bottom of it. What he said to me is, 'Me and you are brothers. Me and you are never supposed to go at it. But I heard you were dissing me on this new Akinyele album."

"Greater heads prevailed...and we both knew we were supposed to continue that conversation. I was scheduled to meet him in Vegas...and you and Jimmy Iovine called me at about four in the morning, and told me that he might not make it."

Nas also spoke on his upcoming album, Life Is Good.

"[The album has] the eras that I like," he explained. "'Nasty ' was a 90's kind of vibe. That's woven in there."

"Some personal stuff, life stuff in there. I tried to put that out there, get that off my chest," he added.

Mannie Fresh Explains His History With Kanye West

It's a well known fact that Mannie Fresh and Kanye West have maintained a relationship since before to 'Ye rose to super-stardom. Now, in a recent interview with Vibe, the former Cash Money producer recalls how he first linked up with the Chicago producer/emcee.

Mannie Fresh said that he was first introduced to Yeezy through former partner Mikkey Halsted when the Chicago duo were in talks to sign with Cash Money in the late '90s. Fresh said that Halsted ultimately signed with the label as a solo artist,  and that 'Ye went on to join the Roc-A-Fella army in 2000.

"I knew Kanye way before he was signed,” he recalled. “He came to Cash Money with Mikkey [Halsted], who was an artist on Cash Money. They came together as a group and Kanye was the producer, and he decided to split out and later did his thing with Jay-Z. So I’ve been knowing dude forever. Kanye knows what I’m about.”

Mannie Fresh also spoke on the impressive roster of artists signed to Yeezy's G.O.O.D. Music imprint. He said that the talent at G.O.O.D. Music is so extensive that the label's more akin to a factory, with 'Ye at the head of the pack overseeing the product.

“There are so many talented people that are on G.O.O.D. Music that it’s nuts,” he said.. “You have so many people that you are working with that it’s unlimited. I can’t say what it’s structured around. It’s more so a music factory. It’s like, hey, everybody that walks through those doors play Kanye something. If he likes it they give it to him. It’s as simple as that.”

Showing an impressive sense of humor and understanding of pop culture, Queen Elizabeth II has agreed to let Daniel Craig and director Danny Boyle shoot an Olympics-themed short film called “The Arrival” at Buckingham Palace. The plot goes, Bond gets an assignment from the Queen — who may or may not make a cameo — that it’s his mission to launch the Olympic Games. The short will be played on big screens in the stadium: The attendees will watch Bond get in a helicopter and fly over the stadium… and then Daniel Craig himself will parachute into the stadium live! Talk about the perfect promotion for the new Bond film Skyfall.

It’s crazy-fitting how well everything wraps up, timing-wise, with London hosting this year’s Olympics. This year is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee — at which the Spice Girls might be performing! — and it’s Bond’s 50th anniversary on film. I wish this had been a surprise, though; if this were several years ago, no doubt that it would be more under wraps and we wouldn’t have heard about it because letting a film crew into Buckingham Palace was news alone. But you know who we’d really love to see cameo in the Bond short? Kate Middleton.

We live in the era of creative urinals, apparently. Not too long ago we wrote about the SEGA Toylet, a bathroom-centric console where the strength and speed of your* pee could blow a girl’s skirt up and make other amusing things happen during your bathroom trip. NowBillboard magazine has gotten in on this somewhat puerile promotion scheme, with a guitar urinal calledGuitar Pee installed at Brazilian watering hole Bar Aurora.

So, yeah. It’s like Guitar Hero, except that instead of your fingers plucking the strings, it depends on how straight and true your aim is. There are handy instructions and a score board, but it sounds like the melody is all up to you. That means that only seasoned guitar players should step up and unzip their pants.

But if you live outside of Brazil, don’t despair! The Guitar Pee site, if you access it from your mobile phone, has a collection of .mp3s. For practice at home, we assume.

*I say “your” meaning the actual users of urinals, i.e., men. But I assume that you, as our overwhelmingly female readership, already got that.

(CNN) -- Separate tornadoes touched down near the Dallas-Forth Worth area Tuesday afternoon, tossing tractor trailers like toys and causing widespread damage to homes and other structures.
One tornado was spotted on the ground five miles east of downtown Dallas, the National Weather Service said. All flights at Dallas-Fort Worth airport were grounded and passengers and airport employees were moved into shelters as the storm system spawned multiple funnel clouds. Flights at Dallas Love Field airport were also grounded.
A fresh tornado warning was issued for Arlington, Texas, which had already been struck.
"There may be storms behind the storms, making damage in places that already have damage and that now is happening for Arlington, Texas," said CNN's Chad Myers.
Video from CNN affiliate WFAA broadcast dramatic footage of the scene, showing tractor trailers being lifted and tossed through the air like matchsticks. Ominous clouds filled the skies, making it as dark as night. The network showed roofs of homes ripped off and trailers turned on their sides.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, but a spokeswoman for Dallas County said she had heard of damage throughout the area.
Tarrant County spokesman Mark Flake confirmed damage in the cities of Arlington and Kennedale.
The weather service urged people in the area to move to a bathroom, closet or hallway on the lowest floor of their buildings and take cover.

Laura Bassett: Planned Parenthood Bombing Suspect Arrested In Wisconsin

A male suspect was arrested in Grand Chute, Wisconsin on Tuesday in connection with the bombing of a local Planned Parenthood clinic.

On Sunday night, a bomb was placed on the windowsill of a Planned Parenthood clinic -- one of the three out of 27 Planned Parenthood clinics in Wisconsin that offer abortion services. The bomb went off and sparked a small fire at the clinic, which damaged one of the exam rooms. No one was hurt.

"Following a report by a witness that a white, SUV type vehicle was seen leaving the Planned Parenthood area at the same time flames were also observed at the building, investigators were able to corroborate this information after viewing security video from the location," Grand Chute Police Sgt. Greg Mohr said in a press release.

The vehicle, which had "distinctive markings," was involved in a traffic accident near the clinic after the bomb was reported and had to be towed away. Using information collected from that traffic accident, the police were able to identify the driver, whose physical description "matched physical characteristics of a male subject observed on the security video provided by Planned Parenthood," the press release said.

Police located the suspect on Sunday night and have detained him at Outagamie County Jail. They did not release details about his age or appearance and said no charges have been filed.

“As a trusted nonprofit health care provider, patient health and safety is our top priority. We applaud law enforcement who were able to work so quickly to apprehend a suspect. Violence in our society should never be tolerated," Teri Huyck, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, said in a statement. "We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the law enforcement agencies working with us to ensure Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin continues to be a safe and trusted health care provider for Wisconsin women and families.”

Nigerian beaten to death in Malaysia‬

A week before his marriage, 35-year old Onochie Nwankwo was beaten to death at a condominium in Malaysia for allegedly trying to rape a cleaner.‬

‪Nwankwo was said to have hugged, kissed and showed the 43-year-old cleaner his private part.‬

‪Alarmed, she alerted the management of the condominium, which sent seven of its personnel to her rescue on the 15th floor. On their way, they met the cleaner running towards them.‬

‪Minutes later, Nwankwo came down to the ground floor where they caught him and beat him before tying him up and informing the police.‬

‪“When we arrived, we found him motionless,” ACP Abdul Rashid said, adding that police rushed him to a nearby clinic where he was pronounced dead.

Pension Scam: I Made $544, 000 Selling "Pure Water", Says Accused

One of the accused persons standing trial in the N14.5 billion Police Pension scam, Mrs. Veronica Ulonma Onyegbula, has told investigators the $544,632 (about N82 million) found in one of her companies, Ulover International Resources Limited, was realized from selling pure water which the company produces.

Mrs. Onyegbula stated that the company which was situated in Umuahia, the Abia state capital belonged to her mother whom she said suffered stroke seven years ago and as a result of that made her a member of the board of directors to enable her handle the finances of the company.

Part of the items recovered by operatives of the anti graft agency during a search at the woman’s home was bank statements belonging to Ulover International Resources Limited which she stated is engaged in the production of pure water.

In her statement issued to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as contained in the proof of evidence filed by the agency before the court where they are standing trial and dated 15th February, 2012, the accused stated that in the course of her job at the Police Pension Office, that she cashed a total of N14 billion on the instruction of the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Kigo and the Director, Mr. Esai Dangabar via cheques signed by both men.

She also stated that there was a subsisting Federal Government Circular which directed that withdrawals from the Police Pension Fund should be by way of e-payment to beneficiaries accounts but that despite this circular, that her bosses issued cheques in her name with which she accessed funds from the Police Pension Funds domiciled at a first generation bank, First Bank of Nigeria Plc.

She also stated that she handed over the monies as soon as she cashed the cheques from First Bank Plc.

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the court again on Tuesday for their bail applications to be heard

Dagrin's Documentary 'Remembering Dagrin' Set To Be Released

This April marks the second year anniversary of Dagrin’s death and to commemorate this, Gini the director of his only solo video, pon pon pon, is set to release an authoritative and informative documentary of the young rapper’s life.

The clip is over an hour long and combines both known and never-before-seen clips and images of Dagrin. It contains interviews with most of the persons that crossed the path of the young man and contributed to his rise to fame in the Nigerian music industry. It is a real time presentation that paints a perfect HD picture with excellent voice narration and sequencing.
The documentary seeks to further promote the works of the late rapper and act as a reference point for upcoming acts. It also aims to put an end to some of the mysteries which have surrounded the late young man’s death.

Aptly entitled,REMEMBERING DAGRIN, it comes under the auspices of Omoita Entertainment, an outfit founded by Gini who was much more than just a video director to Dagrin. “We were very good friends and he convinced me on his dreams and plans for his career and the Nigerian entertainment industry. Dagrin had plans of having his own crew made up of young artistes like him who are struggling through various adversities to make their voices heard. So OMOITA was created to also help artistes like him realize their dreams and carry on the dreams he had for Misofunyin Entertainment,” Gini said.

He also added that the name, “OMOITA,” came from Dagrin who was popularly known as the C.E.O (Chief Executive Omoita) which was the title of his 2009 sophomore album which contained the hit track, “Pon Pon Pon,” whose video, Gini directed. “Dagrin made me popular in the industry and I believe I owe him a duty to tell the real story behind some of his struggles that I witnessed. Not many people knew that we were already in the process of shooting the video of “Ghetto Dreams,” feat Sossick, the first track of the album, on the day Dagrin died.”

Gini whose real name is Abiodun Olayinka is a video director and Film Maker who has done a number of notable works in the entertainment industry.

Auto Talk: Romeo Ferraris tweaks the Ferrari 599 GTO

Soon Ferrari will disocntinue the 599 as it ushers the new F12 Berlinetta into production, but until then the GTO holds its place as king of the hill. So before the ultimate incarnation of the 599 is swept off into retirement, Romeo Ferraris has developed a series of enhancements to the Ferrari flagship.

Given that Maranello has put just about everything it has into the 599 GTO, there wasn’t a lot of room to play around. So the tuner has released two small upgrades. Stage 1 encompasses a new air filter and exhaust for a 15-horsepower boost, while the Stage 2 kit remaps the ECU as well for 40-horsepower upgrade to bring overall output up to 710 hp – putting the final iteration of the 599 within spitting distance of its replacement’s 740 hp.

A series of extra carbon fiber components are also offered, but Romeo Ferraris apparently holds enough reverence for the donor cars to keep the modifications to a minimum.

Man caught and killed for planting bomb on tanker

A man was killed yesterday in Unguwar Mu’azu of Kaduna while attempting to plant a bomb on a petrol tanker parked along the busy Nnamdi Azikiwe Express Way.

Witnesses said that the yet-to-be identified bomber was disguised as a mad man. He was spotted carrying a carton containing explosives and was seen trying to plant it on a loaded tanker parked by the express way.

Unguwar Mu’azu, a suburb of Kaduna and located along Abuja-Kano road, is populated by mostly tanker drivers, who lift petroleum products from Kaduna refinery. Only the bomber and was killed and the petrol tanker was burnt down.

“The man, who disguised as a madman, came here (Unguwan Mu’azu) with a carton and kept it on top of a petrol tanker. Before he could turn, the carton felt on his legs, exploded and cut him into pieces. He was the only person that died. The petrol tanker was also burnt by the explosion,” a resident of the area, Bala Ibrahim, said.

Kaduna Police spokesperson Aminu Lawan, who confirmed the incident, said that the person who died in the explosion was the one suspected to be carrying the bomb.

“One person died in the incident. And the person that died is the one suspected to be carrying a carton with explosives. There were no other casualties. Security has been beefed up all over the place,” Lawan said.
