The story of the £75million deal is a fascinating one and involves the central role played by TV productions chiefs Richard McKerrow and Anna Beattie, who devised Bake Off after being inspired by the rural baking competition at a village fete.

Despite four years in which they initially failed to sell the idea, ex-BBC runner Miss Beattie kept faith. The couple’s company, Love Productions, finally sold it to the BBC. It took time to develop from a niche BBC2 programme into a money-making machine.

Norwegian Air will offer $69 tickets to Europe — but one thing needs to happen first

For several years, Norwegian Air has teased the flying public with promises of $69 tickets to cross the Atlantic.

Now it looks like the cheap tickets for which we have pined for so long may finally be within reach.

According to Norwegian Air chief commercial officer Thomas Ramdahl, his airline is awaiting the aircraft needed for the $69 flights. 

That's because the first of the 100 Boeing 737 MAX 8 airliners Norwegian Air ordered to operate those flights won't be ready for delivery until 2017.

The Boeing 737 Max 8 is expected to enter service with launch partner Southwest Airlines during the third quarter of 2017. However, Boeing told Bloomberg's Julie Johnson and Mary Schlangenstein that the planes could be ready for delivery as early as March.

Researchers say these findings are much higher than expected, and warn that these individuals may turn to unethical and illegal tactics to get ahead.

Narcissism: Tendencies of attention-seeking, charm, vanity, grandiose yet low self-esteem, and a willingness to manipulate others.

Machiavellianism: Coldness, immoral thinking, long-term manipulation, blunt practicality, and hunger for money, success or power.

Psychopathy: Antisocial behaviours, thrill-seeking, manipulation and impulsivity.

In the new study, the team from Bond University in Australia and the University of San Diego examined the prevalence of psychopathic traits in the business sector.

The findings were presented today at the Australian Psychological Society Congress in Melbourne.

A study of 261 corporate professionals in the supply chain management industry revealed that 21 percent of these individuals have ‘clinically significant levels of psychopathic traits.’

This is compared with about one in 100 people from the general population, and one in five people in the prison system found to have these traits.

The New York attorney general suing over Trump University is now investigating the Trump Foundation

 New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said on Tuesday he had opened an inquiry into the Donald J. Trump Foundation to ensure the Republican presidential nominee's charity was complying with state laws governing nonprofits.

Schneiderman, a supporter of Trump's Democratic rival in the presidential race, Hillary Clinton, sued the real estate mogul and his now defunct Trump University for fraud in 2013, seeking $40 million in restitution plus penalties and other costs.

In a CNN interview on Tuesday, Schneiderman said his office had now brought Trump's charitable foundation under scrutiny.

"My interest in this issue really is in my capacity as regulator of nonprofits in New York state. And we have been concerned that the Trump Foundation may have engaged in some impropriety from that point of view," the elected Democratic official said.
