The police yesterday sealed off Wadata Plaza, headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.
It is all in a bid to prevent the party’s crisis from growing. But ousted National Chairman Ali Modu Sheriff met with his strategists in Abuja and vowed not to surrender his mandate.
Sheriff’s camp has also vowed to deny factional National chairmen Ahmed Makarfi and Sen. Ibrahim Mantu access to the secretariat.
Sheriff and his loyalists were contemplating a court action last night, although a decision was yet to be reached as at the time of filing this report. To show his determination for a fight to the finish, Sheriff shunned calls from Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.
The governor was said to have called Sheriff many times but the deposed chairman spurned the entreaties which he termed as “medicine after death”.

ISIS Fears ISIS ‘want to carry out door-to-door massacre in UK countryside sparks new rural anti-terror plan'

The new base will be in south west England to boost anti-terror forces in rural areas

Fears ISIS wants to carry out a 'door-to-door massacre' in the British countryside has led to plans for a new rural anti-terror base, it has been claimed.
Authorities are concerned jihadis could commit a mass shooting in a rural area with gunmen slaughtering villages instead of previous, more urban targets, security experts say.
It is also feared that the scenes of terror seen in Tunisia last year could be replicated in British holiday camps.
In response police are planning an intelligence-gathering base in south west England equipped with a unit of specialist firearms officers on standby to deal with any terror threat, it has been reported.
It will cover Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and some of Gloucestershire as part of a five-year £143 million plan to boost Britain’s armed policing capability, according to the Sunday Express.

Auction of world's most expensive wine thrown into chaos after claims they're fake

An American wine fraud expert has called into question the authenticity of a treasure trove of the world’s most expensive wineafter it went under the auctioneer’s hammer in Geneva.
Six lots of vintage bottles from the mythical Romanée Conti Domain in Burgundy were withdrawn from the multi-million pound auction at the last minute. The rest of the sale of 1,407 bottles – worth up to £11,000 each – proceeded as planned.
The auction house, Bagheera Wines, told The Independent that it would “urgently” verify the authenticity of all bottles in the sale. If any proved to be suspect, their sales would be cancelled.
“We take the protection of our customers’ interest very seriously,” said Michael Ganne, director of Bagheera. “I am sure that the overwhelming bulk of the lots will prove to be genuine. If there is any doubt at all, the sale will be nullified.”
Mr Ganne told The Independent that he had ordered “five or six lots” to be withdrawn from the sale because of the allegations made on the site Wineberserkers.Com.

yangon1
Every year, Mercer, one of the world's largest HR consultancy firms, releases its Quality of Living Index, which looks at the cities that provide the best quality of life.
Now we take a look at what cities are ranked as providing the worst quality of life.
The ranking is one of the most comprehensive of its kind and is carried out annually to help multinational companies and other employers compensate employees fairly when placing them on international assignments, according to Mercer.
Looking at 450 cities across the world, Mercer takes into account the following metrics to judge which cities made the list for the best quality of life — which therefore shows what it feels are the best and worst:

Louis van Gaal: The inside story of Manchester United's dressing room meltdown

louis-van-gaal.jpg
Louis van Gaal’s two-year reign at Manchester United has come to an end after the Dutchman lost the respect of the dressing-room with eccentric management that extended to brutal video dissection of players’ performances, critical emails to squad members and the imposition of ‘straitjacket’ football on the team.
Senior players have also grown exasperated by the ‘special treatment’ afforded to German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has made just four appearances since suffering a knee injury against Sheffield United in the FA Cup in January.
Van Gaal, who led United to the FA Cup glory with Saturday’s 2-1 Wembley victory against Crystal Palace, is set to be replaced by Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford after failing to secure Champions League qualification this season.

Gunman kills two and injures eleven at concert in Austria before turning the gun on himself

In the early hours of this morning Sunday May 22nd, a 27-year-old man in Austria shot at concert goers killing two and injuring eleven following an argument before turning the gun on himself.

The man had gotten into an argument with a woman at a concert organised by a motorcycle club during which he retrieved a gun from his car and shot 'wildly' into the crowd. Shortly after, the gunman went back to his car and killed himself. Helicopters could not reach the area due to nearby power lines and the wounded had to be evacuated by ambulance.

Bags packed? Ryan Giggs could be set to leave Manchester United
Ryan Giggs could be the biggest casualty from Jose Mourinho's anticipated arrival with the Manchester United legend set to leave.
Giggs is reportedly ready to walk away from the club he has been with since he was a schoolboy once Louis van Gaal's departure is confirmed.
The 42-year-old has served as the Dutchman's assistant manager for the past two years, continuing a role he started under former boss David Moyes in July 2013.
And although Mourinho is said to be keen to extend Giggs' stay in United's backroom set-up, the former Wales international is understood to be heading for the exit.

Rare photos show life inside North Korea's top-secret military

North Korean militaryLittle is known about North Korea, and maybe even less is known about the country's military.
And while photos can be instrumental in learning about everyday life in the hermit kingdom, they can be extremely difficult to get past the border and out of the country.
But a recent Reuters package has a set of rare photos of North Korea's military, ranging from 2006 to 2015, which reveal a snapshot of life as a soldier in North Korea.

The Korean War began in 1950 when 75,000 soldiers from the North crossed the border and invaded the South.

Jamie (left), 23, and Chloe, 20, O¿Herlihy now live as sisters, but they grew up in Ireland as brothers and both struggled with their gender, yet felt unable to talk to each other about it
They had always loved dressing up in skirts and playing with dolls.
But for years the O’Herlihy brothers did not tell anyone – including each other – just how much they were struggling with their gender.
Finally, though, they opened up to each other and discovered they were going through the same battle – and both are now living as women.
Jamie, 23, who kept her birth name, and Chloe, 20, who used to be called Daniel, said it was amazing to be able to help each other.

Amazing images from the lawless Hong Kong slum which was once home to 30,000 and one of the most densely populated place on earth

Kowloon Walled City, in Hong Kong, had more than 300 high-rise apartments and an estimated 33,000 people crammed within the site
Life inside Kowloon Walled City, the most densely populated place on earth, was far from easy before the chaotic cluster of interconnected high-rise buildings was demolished 20 years ago.
Around 33,000 people lived in the overcrowded Hong Kong slum, which was blighted by poverty, organised crime, including drug dealing, gambling and prostitution, poor sanitation and inadequate services.
Populated by families, business owners, drug addicts and gang members, the settlement was essentially lawless due to a territorial dispute between China and British Hong Kong, but both sides agreed in the 1980s to demolish it and replace it with a park.
The former Chinese military site became a sprawling urban settlement after Japanese forces retreated during World War II and squatters moved in.
Over the following decades it fell under the grip of the Triads, who were eventually forced out in the 1970s, and was notorious for brothels, casinos and opium dens as it lagged behind the rest of Hong Kong, although crime rates dropped in its later years.
Before Kowloon Walled City was finally demolished in 1994, photographers Greg Girard and Ian Lambot spent five years capturing jaw-dropping images of daily life within the six-acre site - from children playing on rooftops to heroin addicts shooting up on the street.

BBC reporter details being detained in North Korea

A BBC reporter detained last week in North Korea released his account of the ordeal Friday, describing how he was held for 10 hours before being expelled from the country.
Rupert Wingfield-Hayes, the BBC’s Tokyo correspondent, was in Pyongyang to cover a weeklong visit by three Nobel laureates to the country’s capital. The trip, designed to show North Korea’s desire for increased international exchanges, was marred as the country detained Wingfield-Hayes for writing stories the government deemed to be “offensive” to its people.
“I was told that my reporting had insulted the Korean people and that I needed to admit my mistakes,” Wingfield-Hayes said in a story published by the BBC Friday morning.
The offending bits apparently included references to a “grim-faced” customs official who “barked” at the reporters, which a North Korean official said portrayed his people as dogs.
After intervention from his editors and a written apology, Wingfield-Hayes was eventually released. But his problems didn’t end there, as the North Korean government blocked his exit from the country for two more days before finally expelling him.

CALVIN HARRIS IN VIOLENT CAR CRASH Bolts from Hospital

0521-clavin-harris-getty-01
Calvin Harris was involved in a terrible car crash Friday night, suffering injuries serious enough to require an ambulance ... but staying in the hospital just wasn't for him.
Law enforcement sources tell us ... Calvin was a passenger in a Cadillac SUV at around 11 PM when a VW Bug convertible driven by a 16-year-old girl crossed the center line, crashing into his vehicle.
The VW bug was filled with teenagers and the accident so violent ... one of the passengers who was sitting on her boyfriend's lap was ejected.
Calvin suffered a laceration on his face that was bad enough to require immediate attention.  Paramedics took him to an L.A. hospital.  We're told he wanted a private room, and when they said one wasn't available he hopped off the gurney and left ..."against medical advice."
The driver and her passenger who was ejected were also taken to the hospital.  We know the girl who was ejected suffered a broken pelvis.
