lula-ann-gillespie.jpg

A mother-of-three who vanished 42 years ago has been found alive and living under a false name.
Lula Ann Gillespie-Miller admitted her identity after being tracked down in Texas by police looking into her case.
She had been missing since leaving home in 1974 shortly after giving birth to her third child.
Then aged 28, she had decided she was too young to be a mother and signed custody of her children over to her parents.
Indiana State Police Detective Sgt. Scott Jarvis began looking for her in January 2014 after receiving a request from the Doe Network – a volunteer organisation which helps hunt for unidentified and missing people.
The detective had arranged for a body buried in an unmarked grave to be exhumed and DNA analysis to be carried out.
But while this was underway, Sgt Jarvis began to follow the trail of a women with similarities to Ms Gillespie-Miller who was living in Texas.

Ivory Coast hotel shooting: Al-Qaeda claim responsibility for attack which left at least 16 dead

Ivorian security forces evacuate people after heavily armed gunmen opened fire at a hotel in the Ivory Coast beach resort of Grand-Bassam

Al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the attack that left 16 people dead at a popular beach in Ivory Coast today.
Fourteen civilians and two special forces soldiers were shot by gunmen armed with Kalashnikovs and wearing balaclavas.
Four Europeans, including a French national, and a five-year-old child were reportedly among those slaughtered on the sand bordering three hotels in the coastal city Grand-Bassam.
The North African branch of the terrorist organisation posted a statement online claiming it was behind the deadly assault on Sunday.
"In a message posted on its Telegram channels on March 13, 2016, the group reported that three `heroes' from its group were able to storm the resort," according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors online communications by militant groups.
President Alassane Ouattara confirmed that at least 16 people were shot dead by six gunmen at the weekend retreat, said to be favoured by Westerners, during a visit to the site.
The Côte d'Ivoire leader said: "Six attackers came onto the beach in Bassam this afternoon... We have 14 civilians and two special forces soldiers who were unfortunately killed."

10 Things You Need to Know When Traveling to Cuba

“Romeo y Julieta? Montecristo? Cohiba?”

I had climbed the unlit concrete stairs just off a quiet street in central Havana expecting to arrive at a smoker’s boutique. Instead, I found myself standing in Alfonso’s tiny apartment, where a cache of Cuba’s most forbidden fruit—cigars—was carefully piled atop his kitchen table. I hesitated, hovering in the doorway, staring at the wooden boxes. Is this legal? Is this legit?

The new era of on-demand private jet charter claims the skies
Imagine flying to an island hideaway in the Bahamas, with warm turquoise water, gentle trade winds, and beautiful white beaches. An icy tropical drink ...
Ignoring my trepidation, I picked up a Cohiba. The bands were clean and uniform. The label featured the tell-tale hologram. The logo was a perfect replica to my admittedly untrained eye. But simple logic told me this box—with an asking price of just $100 for 25 cigars—was too good to be true. And yet, Havana had already cast a spell on me, with its bubble-gum-pink and cherry-red classic cars whizzing past crumbling colonial ruins fronted by slender palm trees. So I pulled out my wallet and gave Alfonso two $50 bills. Counterfeit or not, it was a story. And a story is exactly why you come to Cuba.

Has the secret of the Bermuda Triangle finally been discovered? Scientists find giant craters underwater which may explain how ships disappear without trace

Underwater craters found in Barents Sea off the coast of Norway
Caused by build-up of methane natural gas which then explodes
Could explain disappearance of ships in notorious Bermuda Triangle

A discovery of giant underwater craters at the bottom of Barents Sea could offer a viable explanation to the disappearance of ships in the Bermuda Triangle.
Scientists have found craters up to half a mile wide and 150ft deep, believed to have been caused by build-ups of methane off the coast of natural gas-rich Norway.
The methane would have leaked from deposits of natural gas further below the surface and created cavities which finally bursts, scientists say.
Mystery: Scientists believe similar methane craters could explain loss of ships in the Bermuda Triangle
