5 countries dump more plastic into the oceans than the rest of the world combined

RTXE6CO
The planet’s seas are choking on our junk: soda bottles, plastic bags and tons of cigarette butts. Distant spots in the ocean — called garbage gyres — have become vortexes where humanity’s trash bobs atop the water for miles on end.
Worse yet, the filth floating on the surface accounts for only 5 percent of all the plastic trash dumped into the sea. According toOcean Conservancy, a US environmental nonprofit, the other 95 percent is submerged beneath, where it strangles underwater creatures and wrecks the aquatic ecosystem.
It turns out that five countries are the leading contributors to this crisis. And all are in Asia.

A Syrian native wrote two columns this week describing what day-to-day life has become in Raqqa, Syria — the de facto capital of the terrorist group ISIS.
He wrote of a city where a person's appearance could get him or her arrested if it's not in line with ISIS rules, where people are forced to attend indoctrination classes at mosques, and where residents have become so desensitized to airstrikes that they no longer bat an eye at them.
Many Syrians vowed to stay after the start of the country's civil war in 2011. For the past five years, rebels have been fighting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who has been known to commit atrocities against civilians as he tries to hang onto power. Jihadist groups have also moved into Syria to take advantage of the power vacuum that has opened up amid the chaos.

Adolf Hitler 'faked his death then fled to Tenerife' CIA veteran claims

German dictator Adolf Hitler (1889 - 1945)
A veteran CIA agent claims to have proof Hitler faked his own death in his bunker at the end of the Second World War.
The team have used a collection of never-before-seen documents to develop the theory that Hitler did not actually kill himself and instead fled to the Canary Islands.
Veteran CIA agent Bob Baer said: "The narrative the government gives us is a lie. if you look at the FBI files it throws open the investigation.
"What we are doing is re-examining history, history that we thought was settled that Hitler died in the bunker but the deeper we get into it, it's clear to me we don't have any facts for it."
Mr Baer's team have access to 700 pages of newly declassified information.
One document states: "American Army officials in Germany have not located Hitler's body nor is there any reliable source that Hitler is dead."
The team claim Hitler 'easily' faked his own death through the use of a double, as the corpse found by Russians was said to be five inches shorter than Hitler and with a smaller skull.

TRUMP: 'I will get rid of gun-free zones on schools' my first day in the White House

donald trump
Real-estate mogul Donald Trump ended his Thursday-night campaign rally by calling for an end to so-called gun-free zones on schools and US military bases.
"I will get rid of gun-free zones on schools — you have to — and on military bases on my first day. It gets signed my first day," the Republican presidential front-runner told his supporters in Burlington, Vermont.
"You know what a gun-free zone is to a sicko?" Trump asked. "That's bait."
Trump's rally was occurring at the same time as US President Barack Obama's televised town-hall forum addressing gun violence. Obama has repeatedly called for gun-control measures after recent mass shootings and took executive action this week to expand background checks on gun buyers, among other things.

BILL COSBY WILL NOT BE CHARGED IN PLAYBOY MANSION ASSAULT

bill-cosby-fear
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced yesterday that the alleged victim did not provide enough evidence for them to file any charges against the controversy embroiled comedian Bill Cosby.
The 25 year old accuser, Chloe Goins, is still going forward with a civil lawsuit, claiming that when she was 18, she attended a party at the Playboy Mansion, where she says that Cosby gave her a drink and she immediately felt sick. Her suit says that she woke up naked with her breasts “wet and sticky as if someone had been licking them.”
Investigators have reviewed the footage from the mansion at the August 2008 party and found no footage of Goins or Cosby in attendance. Further evidence showed that Cosby was in NYC on the weekend that the party occurred.
Also, the L.A. DA refused to charge Cosby for another woman’s claims, who said the 78 year old comedian raped her in 1965, in which the statute of limitation has long expired in these accusations.

cleaverparis

On the anniversary of the Charlie Hedbo attacks, a cleaver-style knife weilding man shouting“Allahu Akbar” was shot and killed by police attempting to enter a northern Paris police station.
The attempted attack close to the police station in Goutte D’Or in Barbes took place on the one year anniversary of the first terrorist attack in the French capital known as the Charlie Hedbo killings.
In that tragedy, two gunman entered the French gonzo-journalism magazine, killing twelve people for the publication’s propaganda against Islam and the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
With Parisians already paranoid on a highly sensitive anniversary, wondered as to whether the attacker was a “one off” terrorist, a disturbed individual or possibly the first wave of the kind of coordinated attacks that struck in November.

The FBI hacked a child porn website on the dark web and nailed 1,500 users

hackerz
The FBI has used hacking methods never seen before in the history of law enforcement to bring down the owners and clients of the largest child pornography website found on the dark web to date.
A bulletin board website named Playpen that enabled users to sign up and then upload any images they liked was launched in August 2014 on the dark web, and according to court documents, the website's primary purpose was to advertise and distribute child pornography.
The dark web is a section of the internet not discoverable by conventional means, such as through a Google or search or by directly entering a website URL.
As the websites are hidden, they are perfect for cyber criminals, who list thousands of goods and services for sale on secret underground marketplaces, including narcotics, chemicals, firearms and counterfeit goods, as well as adverts for services such as hacking, gambling and sports betting. Many users of the dark web use the Tor anonymity network to disguise their web traffic and ensure anonymity.

Colorado girl charged with plotting to kill high school classmates

One of two 16-year-old girls accused of plotting to kill classmates and staff at their Colorado high school last month was formally charged as an adult on Tuesday with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, prosecutors said.
Sienna Johnson appeared in Douglas County Court to face allegations that she and another girl planned to attack Mountain Vista High School in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch, said District Attorney George Brauchler.
Brauchler told Reuters he decided to charge Johnson as an adult based on evidence seized by police, including a journal in which he said the girl drew a map of the school, made detailed notes about where people congregated and tracked the movements of security personnel.

North Korea says conducted 'successful' H-bomb test

North Korea said Wednesday it had carried out a "successful" miniaturised hydrogen bomb test -- a shock announcement that, if confirmed, would massively raise the stakes in the hermit state’s bid to strengthen its nuclear arsenal
The announcement triggered swift international condemnation but also scepticism, with experts suggesting the apparent yield was far too low for a thermonuclear device which the North was believed to be years from developing.
The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting Wednesday in New York, diplomats said.
The closed-door morning talks between the 15 member nations were called by the United Nations and Japan.
"The republic's first hydrogen bomb test has been successfully performed at 10:00 am (0130 GMT)," North Korean state television announced.
