Gunmen kill 16 Deeper life worshippers in Okene

Gunmen on Monday  invaded the Deeper Life Church at Otite area in Okene, killing 16  worshippers and leaving many others wounded NAN reports.

The Commander of the Joint Military Task Force  in Lokoja, Lt-Col. Gabriel Olorunyomi, confirmed the incident.

He said 15 worshippers died instantly in the attack while another died on the way to the hospital.

The commander said many injured persons were rushed to hospitals in Lokoja, a distance  of 40 minutes driving on the road from Okene.

He said the casualty figure might rise considering that some sustained heavy injuries.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack as yet.

Meanwhile, a Niger Delta-based activist, Mr. Oghenejabor Ikimi, has said Nigeria has become a laughing stock among comity of nations following constant attacks on her security formations by the Boko Haram sect.

Ikimi, in a statement on Monday, said it was shameful that the Nigerian Police had remained ill-funded, ill-trained and ill-equipped in the face of terrorism.

He noted that the police lacked the capacity to deliver on their constitutional mandate of protecting life and property, citing cases where police stations were sacked and some of them killed by terrorists in northern part of the country.

“An ill-equipped, ill-trained and ill-funded police organisation like the Nigeria Police cannot protect itself talk less of protecting the Nigerian Populace,” he said.

He condemned the frequent excuse by the government that it lacked funds to adequately equip the police adding that the clamour for the creation of state police by some governors would not solve the problem.

Ikimi, who is the convener of the Forum for Justice and Human Rights Defence, asked the Federal Government to reappraise its priorities by cutting down on its financial excesses.

He said, “The situation does not speak well of us as a country in security terms before the comity of nations hence I am calling on the Federal Government to properly equip, re-train and fund the Nigeria Police so that it can discharge effectively its constitutional and statutory duties of protecting lives and properties of the citizenry.

“I believe that a proactive and vibrant police organisation would always, as a matter of fact, be able to protect its personnel and equipment first and foremost before it can protect the life and property of its citizenry.”

Passers-by noticed and gave the taxi a hot chase till it stopped. The victim explained his ordeal that when he entered the taxi, the men inside demanded for his phone and the bag he was carrying.
The kidnappers were later dragged out of the vehicle and were seriously beaten to pulp. One of them died in the course of the attack. Then an SSS Agent came and decided to handle the matter by taking the suspects into custody. He handcuffed the two that were alive but while he was calling for backup, the unthinkable happened, some sections of the crowd liaised with themselves and suddenly rushed forward, pushing the suspects from the fly-over bridge in other to finish them off like their dead colleague.
The mob were not finshed with them just yet. They started hitting them with sticks and throwing stones on them but still, these men were just still breathing
Really it was a horrible sight to behold. I felt i had taken enough pictures and decided to leave the scene. The fate of these men and what happened to them later is currently unknown to me.

We Have Returned N800b Abacha Loot To Nigeria – Switzerland

Switzerland said yesterday it has put some measures in place to safeguard its financial system from the transfer of stolen wealth. Outgoing Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Andreas Baum, spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja . He said Switzerland’s financial system had improved since the controversy surrounding the loot of the late Military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.

“It is an area we have put a lot of work in. We realised that there was a problem; the measures we have taken will prevent the transfer of stolen wealth to our country. “The Nigerian case is very important to us because the Abacha case helped us to improve our laws. “We have put in place measures to ensure that the Swiss financial system is not abused with the transfer of such assets.

“We have returned around 500 million dollars (about N80 billion) of the Abacha loot to Nigeria. That was done during the time of my predecessor. “But there is still one ongoing case involving the son of Abacha,’’ Baum said. The envoy, who described bilateral relations between Switzerland and Nigeria as excellent, bemoaned the low volume of their trade, which currently stood at $500million.

Baum attributed the low level of bilateral trade between the two countries to “informal and unaccounted trade’’. According to him, this is because a lot of Swiss products, mainly oil and pharmaceuticals, come into Nigeria through other countries. “Some Swiss products come into Nigeria through the Netherlands; so it is sometimes difficult to have an accurate account of the trade volume.’’

Baum stressed that plans were underway to improve on the bilateral trade, citing the visit of a trade delegation from Switzerland to Nigeria in 2010 as part of the trade improvement strategies. Baum, who assumed duty in Nigeria in 2008, is expected to leave the country this month, having completed his hour of duty.

Next on Mars: 400 scientists on an alien road trip

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Imagine taking 400 scientists on an alien road trip where each one wants to examine every interesting rock along the way. Welcome to the next two years of NASA’s landmark robotic mission on Mars.

Scientists on Earth are eager to explore the Gale Crater, where water is believed to have pooled many years ago and where the US space agency’s $2.5 billion Curiosity rover touched down early Monday.

Next up, Curiosity will haul the Mars Science Lab at least half-way up Mount Sharp, a towering three-mile (five-kilometer) Martian mountain with sediment layers that may be up to a billion years old.

But it may be a full year before the remote-controlled rover gets to the base of the peak, which is believed to be within a dozen miles (20 kilometers) of the rover’s landing site.

“We are going to make sure that we are firing on all cylinders before we blaze out across the plains there,” John Grotzinger, project scientist on the Mars Science Laboratory, told reporters shortly after the rover landed.

“Possibly within a year or so we could be at the base of Mount Sharp, because the place we landed on looks pretty darn interesting and we just don’t want to rush out of there without having studied it real well.”

First, a series of checks to the car-sized vehicle must take place, which could take weeks.

Then comes the unavoidable bickering and questions of, “Are we there yet?” that another NASA scientist likened to taking a cross-country family trip with all of his coworkers.

“My version of the surface mission is that it is like going on a family vacation and driving from here to Chicago,” said Richard Cook, flight systems manager on the project at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California.

“Except that your family has got 400 scientists who want to stop and look at every fossilized-whatever they can find.”

Part of the check-out process will be testing the various instruments on board the rover, which carries everything from a rock-vaporizing laser and telescope combination to a chemistry kit for analyzing powdered soil and rock.

The rover also totes tools to check for carbon-based compounds that are the building blocks of life and a water detector that can pick up water underground at a distance of 20 inches (50 centimeters).

One instrument, the Radiation Assessment Detector (RAD), has already been collecting data about the radiation the spacecraft sustained, including the effects of five big solar flares, since its November 2011 launch.

The monitor has tracked high energy atomic and subatomic particles from the sun that could pose a danger to astronauts if a human mission to Mars ever takes place, with President Barack Obama vowing to get humans there by 2030.

Dan Hassler, principal investigator for Curiosity’s RAD, told reporters last week scientists were still analyzing the data but said the radiation recorded would make a “significant” contribution to an astronaut’s career dose limit.

NASA also said that “radiation from galactic cosmic rays, originating from supernova explosions and other extremely distant events, accounted for more of the total radiation experienced on the trip than the amount from solar particle events.”

The Curiosity rover’s two year lifespan is already much longer than the last NASA rovers to get to the Red Planet in 2004.

Spirit and Opportunity were solar-powered vehicles meant to last three months. Spirit carried on a bountiful career that lasted more than six years and Opportunity is still trucking along.

“The nominal mission for this is two years, but I think if it lasts twice that I don’t think anyone would be shocked,” said Pete Theisinger, director of the Engineering and Science Directorate at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

“And that is the first time anyone has gotten me to say anything more than two years. We are in no hurry, OK? And we’re not going to … screw it up”

Breaking News: Nigeria: Suicide Bomber Kills Six Soldiers in Yobe - We Did It, Boko Haram Says

Damaturu and Maiduguri — A lone suicide bomber in a vehicle loaded with explosives yesterday rammed into a military veicle in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, killing six soldiers and three civilians. The bomber also died in the attack, witnesses said.

The Jama'atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda'awati Wal Jihad, also known as Boko Haram, has claimed responsibility.

Witnesses said the incident took place around 12 noon at Shagari Low-Cost junction in Damaturu. Following the blast, most residents hurriedly rushed back to their homes as angry JTF operatives fired gunshots continuously into the air.

Daily Trust gathered that the suicide bomber parked his vehicle by the road side waiting for the JTF patrol team which he suspected was trailing him, and suddenly detornated the explosives as the patrol team they approached him.
One witness who has a shop close to the scene said: "I saw him (suicide bomber) when he parked a CR-V jeep by the roadside. When the army vehicles vehicle approached, he suddenly crashed into one of them. Many people were affected by the heavy explosion, including one of our shop attendants who was killed instantly by the effect of the blast. The other attendant sustained serious injuries."

Yobe state police commissioner Mr. Patrick Egbuniwe confirmed the incident, saying two military patrol vehicles suspected a CRV jeep and trailed the speeding driver, not knowing that the vehicle was loaded with explosives.

Pirates attack ship in Niger Delta, kill 2 Naval guards, kidnap 4 foreigners

Pirates attacked a ship being used by an oil servicing company in waters off the Niger Delta Region on Saturday, killing two Nigerian Naval guards and kidnapping four foreigners, the Navy said.

“The incident was somewhere around the Niger Delta, where an oil servicing company was attacked by gunmen. We lost two of our men and four expatriates were abducted, one Malaysian, one Iranian,” Navy spokesman Commodore Kabir Aliyu said.

He said a Thai and an Indonesian were also taken, but had no immediate further details.

Security in the Niger Delta region has improved since militant activity shut down nearly half of the country’s oil output around the middle of the last decade, thanks to an amnesty between various militant factions and the government.

But the situation remains volatile and inflamed by organised crime and local political rivalries.

Pirates in the Niger Delta usually release kidnapped crew members after their cargo has been looted, rather than held for ransom.

Stevie Wonder filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years, Kai Millard Morris. On August 3,PEOPLE Magazine confirmed that Wonder and his wife are calling it quits after separating in 2009 and trying to figure out their marriage. Davido assults taxi driver over Girl friend

Davido Fights With Taxi Driver Over A taxi driver, Femi Ajibola, will never forget July 1, 2012 in a hurry. At about 5.30 pm on that day, he received a phone call from a young woman in the Lekki area of Lagos and had quickly answered the subsequent invitation to pick her up. “The lady introduced her as Susie. She called me to come and pick her and her friend. They told me to come pick them up at Mobolaji Estate near Lekki Second Roundabout. Later, I took them to a hotel at Lekki Phase I to meet one of their friends. “From there we left for Beni Apartment in Victoria Island. They said that I should wait for them and promised to be back soon. Not long afterwards, one of the girls began to scream as she was coming towards my car. Behind her, I saw David Adeleke (Davido) and four of his bouncers. “The girl was running towards me. I think they men had assaulted her. She said I should open the door for her so that she would enter. I opened the door for her; as she was about to enter the car, Davido caught up with her and slapped her face,” Ajibola said. In a bid to save the girl from further assault, Ajibola switched on the engine of his cab and was about to drive off when the youthful singer suddenly dealt him a slap. The cabbie said, “He left the girl and faced me. He said I was the one that brought the girls, that I am their boyfriend. He knocked my face against the steering wheel of the cab. This made blood begin to come out from my ear drums. He seized my car keys and in the process, injured me. “Before I knew what was going on, his four bouncers began to beat me up. They beat me severely and took my car keys from me and chased me away. This happened around 11 pm. I went to report the matter at the Bar Beach Police Station, which was the nearest one. I was asked to come back the next morning to report the case.” Unfortunately, Ajibola had just taken delivery of the vehicle he was using for his transport business and had not paid the dealer in full before the incident. He said that the balance of N100,000 was in the car before the incident had happened. In the whole confusion, he could not pick the money as he was ordered to leave the car by the bouncers. “I had taken delivery of the vehicle about two weeks before the incident. I had paid my dealer N50,000 and the other N100,000 was in the car because I could not pay it in the bank. The money was in the car and since they had sent me away from the car, I could not retrieve it. “The following day, I did not find the money in the cab. They did not even let me wind the car windows up before they chased me out. I noticed that the car was ransacked. I managed to obtain Davido’s phone number and called him. But he did not pick his call. So I sent him a text message. Thirty minutes after I sent him the message, someone picked up the call and promised to pass the message to him. I did not get my car key throughout that day. I went to the police station to file a report,” Ajibola said. “When all efforts to contact Davido proved futile, the police had to go to Susie. Unfortunately, she was of no help.” “On the fourth day, I went to Susie’s house with the police. The ladies said they were not the ones that beat me. They said the only help they could render was to give me Davido’s address and that they had since settled their differences. The whole point of the police visit was to use the girls to get to Davido, but the girls made a phone call to an aunt of theirs and the policemen left them, saying that they were not the ones that assaulted me,” the cab driver said. CRIME DIGEST learnt that the genesis of the fight was because the singer was allegedly caught cheating on his girlfriend. Ajibola continued, I learnt that Davido was dating one of the girls I picked up. They went to his hotel room and caught him with another girl who was their friend. This is what I learnt caused the fight. The police collected Davido’s phone number and called him, but he kept asking them if they knew whose son he was. “He warned the policemen not to threaten or intimidate him. They in turn told him that they were just inviting him for questioning and not to arrest him. Since then, the effort to get him has not been forthcoming. I had to go to the hospital because I was really injured. Davido gave me a blow to the ear which made it to bleed. “One day, the DPO of the station assured me that they would make sure they get him. He was irritated by Davido’s boasting that he was immune to arrest. On July 13, one Sharon Adeleke asked me to come and collect the key of my car at 1004. I told her to come and meet me at the police station. She did not turn up till the DPO intervened. “The DPO invited the Sharon Adeleke, she eventually came to drop the key of the car. I told them that I could not just collect the key of the car without documentation that they gave me the key of the car without a penny, though I lost money and my car got damaged. When I said this, the DPO told me that I did not look like someone that was worth N100,000. “He said I have no proof that there was money in the car and that all he was after was to retrieve my car keys for me. He said that if I wanted to do anything I should go to court and he ordered me out of his office. Till this moment I have not received my car keys or an apology from the singer,” Ajibola said. When contacted on the telephone, both Davido and the Divisional Police Officer of Bar Beach police station, Fakeye Adegoke, refused to answer their calls nor did they reply the text messages sent to them. But Davido’s publicist, Valerie Obaze, denied her client’s involvement in the incident. “Davido has no knowledge of any incident involving the assault of a taxi driver or the illegal seizure of his car. He does not condone violence of any sort and will not be commenting on this untrue allegation,” she said via email However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide promised to get back to the media with the facts of the matter later.

 Today, August 2, 2012, the mother of singing duo of Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square, Mrs Josephine Okoye is being buried in her home town in Anambra State.

The duo were also joined by their other siblings including Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye for the burial rites.

The funeral started today at her husband’s house at Ifite-Dunu, Akwa Village, Anambra State today. It was preceded with a lying-in-state in Umunachi, Umudioka Village, Anambra State, and a church serviceafterwards at St.Gabriel Catholic Church, before the proper burial at Ifite-Dunu, which is also be the reception venue. Children escape death at Dunamis Church in Abuja, as bomb blast is foiled

A number of children would have been dead at Dunamis Church in Nigeria if not for the vigilance of the church members who quickly raised alarm after they suspected that an explosive was tucked under a seat in the children’s session of the church during a midweek service. The church members who quickly ran for dear lives contacted the FCT Anti-bomb squad who responded almost immediately and got the bomb detonated.

The explosive was hidden in an Aluminum container and kept under a seat at the Dunamis Church in Nyanya at about 9pm on Wednesday.

Dailypost reliably gathered that the church member who fled from the church for fear of the explosive spread the news like wild fire until it got to the FCT Police bomb squad who arrived at the venue few minutes later.

The Head of the Technical unit of the Church, Mr Godstime Asuquo confirmed the incident, stating that it was God who gave them the wisdom to discover that the enemies had planted a bomb in the church.

“As we are preparing for another prayer meeting this evening, the church is planning to recruit more security personnel to ensure the safety of lives in the church, this incident cannot send our members away, all hands are on deck to curb the situation “he said.

Nollywood veteran actor and father of one of Nigeria’s most popular pop Musician Justus Esiri and former President of actors Guild of Nigeria, Segun Arinze got more than they bargained when they were robbed of their belongings at a hotel where they lodged in UK.

According to the news which was exclusively obtained from both actors, the incident happened at TRAVELODGE Surrey in UK.The two actors who were in the UK as part of a performing crew of Wole Soyinka’s Play "The Lion and the Jewel" checked into the Hotel when they arrived UK.

The Hotel had three keys, one with the clientele, the second with the manager and the third with a female Polish cleaner who cleans the apartment.
But on the day In question, while they were out on rehearsal, they returned to their hotel only to release that their belongings have been tampered with. While Segun lost his Ipad, Justus Esiri was the worst hit. He lost his international passport with various visas in it, all his travelling documents, laptop, some money and several other valuable things.

Justus Esiri said he is practically stranded in Queens land. When asked what has been done to recover his properties, he said the police were called in. They had a forensic search of the place but so far no arrest has been made. He said the most annoying part of the whole drama is the fact that the hotel had no CCTV CAMERA to capture the robbery.

Court Jails Fraudster Over $53,500 Romance Scam

A 22 years old internet fraudster, Bike John Niye has been sentenced to one and half years imprisonment by a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja,  for defrauding one Laura Wallmam of Indiana, United States of America the sum of $53,500. Justice A Akinlade slammed the prison term on Niye having found him guilty of the four count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretense and attempt to obtain money by false pretense, preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Reports showed that Niye presented himself to Wallmam as businessman who operates a ‘moving’ company and needed money to get some of his goods out of storage. He met Wallmam in a dating site and has been in a relationship with her using a fictitious name, Toby Encore.

His journey to prison began on May 27th, 2010 when officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA and DHL Courier Services intercepted a suspicious parcel containing a Teddy Bear and a Blackberry handset sent from the USA to the convict by Wallmam.  The parcel was examined and it was discovered that it contained the sum of $40,000, a Blackberry handset, and a white lady’s photograph concealed in the Teddy Bear. The parcel was to be delivered to an address in Alapere, a suburb of Lagos with the name Tobi Encore and a Nigerian phone number also belonging to the same recipient. With the phone number, the convicted fraudster was traced and upon finding him, he was handed over to the EFCC for further investigations.

Upon investigation, Operatives of the Commission discovered that the name Tony Encore was used by the fraudster to deceive the American in order to defraud her.  It was found out that his real name is Bike John Niye.  The operatives also discovered that it was Niye who instructed the victim to conceal all the items in a Teddy Bear.

Investigations also revealed that Niye has been receiving various sums of money from the victim via Western Union totaling about US$25,000 before the parcel which finally landed him in jail. To enable him collect the sent funds via Western Union , findings revealed that Niye obtained a Driver’s license with a forged identity bearing the name Nathan Omarkeh. He usually destroys the identity card after collecting money sent to him.

In addition to the one and half year jail term, Niye is to refund the sum of $48,500 as restitution to the victim.

I do not waste my thoughts on some Nigerian politicians. Despite their antics and cries for attention, I dismiss this bunch of political actors. Some are so rotten that I consider them irredeemable. Some are so insignificant in the overall reformation scheme that I feel they will wither away as soon as the cord of corruption is cut off. Some are nothing but stagnant balls of smoke made of sheer ignorance. Mr. David Mark was one of them. But he shouldn’t be.

On a second thought, David Mark is much more than all of the above. He is not just irredeemable. He is also contaminating. He is not just insignificant. His dirty fingers are scratching the canvas of Nigeria. He is not just a stagnant smoke of ignorance on Nigeria’s sky. He is also in motion.

In short, David Mark is a lucky bastard. And nothing is scarier than a government of lucky bastards in the life of a nation.

Mr. Mark went in front of reporters that cover the senate, men and women that he has pocketed, to complain that the social media is used by faceless people to insult Nigerian leaders like him. He grumbled that these disgruntled operators of social media have no way of retracting their stories. His solution: that the government should control social media to stop its users from insulting leaders like him.

What the likes of David Mark do not know is that social media does not operate in a vacuum. It needs content to exist. And social media content is provided by people like David Mark.

Social media thrives on the idiosyncrasies, excesses and stupidity of politicians and celebrities. Those in the limelight who do not wish to be in the spotlight of social media should retire to their villages and wait for death. For instance, nobody in social media is losing sleep over Arthur Nzeribe, who is currently at his Oguta home awaiting death. David Mark can do the same in one of his homes in Benue, Ghana, Caribbean, the US, Belize, the UK, Ireland etc.

For those unfamiliar with the pedigree of the senate president, here is it in brief. David Mark is a leader in that class of miseducated men and women who rode the wave of unaccountable leadership, looting and ruining Nigeria until the nation became a failure. These are the men and women who failed Nigeria with such a staged craftsmanship that the nation they failed works perfectly well for them. If Nigeria were a tree, these men and women cut the tree and told it where to fall.

For those who need more details, this is the essential biography of David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark. Born on April 18, 1948, in Otukpo, he joined the Nigerian army and became prominent as a Major when he was named Secretary of the Abandoned Property Implementation Commission after the Biafra-Nigeria Civil War. In the 1980s, he reemerged as one of the so-called Babangida boys. He became the military governor of Niger state from 1984- 1986. When Babangida took over as Nigeria’s military dictator, he brought Mark close as his Minister of Communication. He played a prominent role in the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election. He headed the gang that threatened to kill M.K.O. Abiola if the military had dared to hand power over to him. He fell out with Gen. Sani Abacha who retired him from the army and he went on exile. At the beginning of this current democratic dispensation in 1999, he became a senator representing Benue South senatorial zone. He supported Obasanjo’s effort to amend the Nigerian constitution to serve a third term. For that effort he collected the lion share of the billions that Obasanjo’s supporters used to bribe senators. He became the Senate president in 2007 as a reward for his loyalty to the PDP.

David Mark is a lucky bastard. Not even one of the 400,000 people of his other country, Belize, will nominate him to be a janitor for their senate.
Even though he believes that a sergeant in the army is better than a university graduate, nobody knows if Mr. Mark can write his name. But we know that he can open offshore accounts in New Jersey and the Cayman islands. We know that is the place he hid most of the Gulf oil windfall for himself and his boss, Babangida. We know that is where he hid proceeds from NITEL deals he cooked up as Minister of Communication when he famously said that poor people had no need for phones and as such he siphoned the money allocated to his ministry. We know that he spent about 6 million British pounds sterling to purchase significant interest in the 18-hole St Margaret’s Golf Club in Ireland. We know he owns a 2.5 million British pounds sterling home on Thames River in London. We know he has millions and millions of pounds sterling in trust for his numerous children and wives all over Europe and America. We know this because his nasty divorce from wife number five, Victoria Preye, exposed some of his hidden investments.

Despite his enormous stolen wealth, here is what David Mark’s epitaph will say. “Here lies a man who admired the trappings of Western civilization but was ignorant of its tenets.” It is the same epitaph for Idi Amin, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida and Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngbendu wa Za Banga.

On top of David Mark’s head roves a giant question mark. When he opens his mouth remarkable gaffes gush out. It is a mark of complete genuflection of a nation that such a scion of corruption is at the head of the upper house of the people’s assembly. His bland mind marketed as diplomatic is impervious of his environment. Otherwise he would have noticed from his hospital bed that it was Israeli media that kept the heat on until former Israeli President Moshe Katsav was sentenced to seven-years for rape.

David Mark is a shameless hypocrite who has absolute disdain for Nigeria. That such an uninspiring character is angling for the presidency of Nigeria is a testament to the hopelessness of the Nigerian project. Put aside his pedigree, Nigeria’s number three man is as shallow as they come. Otherwise he would have heard that it was Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of the Washington Post newspaper that singlehandedly exposed President Richard Nixon as a crook and forced him to resign.

David Mark is old enough to know that “the only countries where newspapers are full of good news are those counties where the prisons are full of good people.” If David Mark is just ignorant, I won’t be scared. I will simply hope that soon, like other ignoramuses like him ruining Nigeria, he will die off with his stupidity and leave Nigeria to its fate. But David Mark is much more than ignorant. He is deliberately manipulative and mischievous. And that is dangerous.

David Mark is a lucky bastard. If an American newspaper places its searchlight on him for just 24 hours, as soon as the report comes out, Interpol, FBI, Scotland Yard, KGB, SSS, MSS, BNI, ICPC, EFCC etc will all be fighting over whose handcuffs will be on David Mark’s hands, legs, waist and ankles.

Mr. Mark hates a marketplace of ideas because he has no confidence in his own opinion. So he dislikes any media that challenges his opinion and tries to hold him accountable. He has been so used to being worshiped that any deviation from that is considered demeaning and insulting. For Mark and his likes, not appending to their names their fake doctorate degrees or their worthless grand commander of a corrupt and crumbling federal republic is already an insult in and of itself. But Mark is perfectly retaining his right to insult Nigerians, disrespect them and treat them as imbeciles who have no idea what one plus one is.

This is why David Mark does not like the social media. He cannot buy them over. He cannot pay them retainership to publish only favorable stories about him. He cannot get them to submit drafts of their stories to his office for approval before publication.

He cannot fly them to an expensive resort hotel and give them lectures on how to do their job as the Fourth Estate. He is mad because he cannot stop social media from writing what one of his six wives said in anger.

Mr. Mark loves the compromised media that does not ask him what he does for Nigeria for which he gets paid over N600 million a year. He loves the compromised media that will quote him as saying, “I will defend Nigeria’s unity with the last drop of my blood,” but won’t ask him why he renounced Nigeria’s citizenship to become a citizen of Belize when his investment in that country was threatened. He loves the compromised media that will not ask why he loves Nigeria so much but will rather go to Israel for a minor medical treatment.

David Mark is a lucky bastard. The best way to properly insult him is to ignore him. That is what I will go back to doing now that I have let out steam.

Accused Colorado Shooter James Holmes Charged With 24 Counts of First-Degree Murder

3m360 reports that James Holmes, the 24-year-old accused of murdering 12 people and injuring 58 at a Colorado movie theater, has been charged with 24 counts of first-degree murder, two counts for each of the 12 victims. He was also charged with 116 counts of attempted murder in the first degree.

Cameras were not allowed in the courtroom, so Acuna got a firsthand account of the court proceedings from Fox News Producer Jennifer Girdon, who was in the courtroom. Girdon described Holmes’ appearance saying that he still had the orange and red hair we saw during last week’s court appearance. She reports that the suspect hadn’t shaven so he appeared rather scruffy. While Girdon said that it was difficult to tell his demeanor because she didn’t have a great view of him, she said, “He was looking around. He looked like he knew what was going on. Looking at the judge when the judge talked, looking at the gallery a little bit.”
