Stevie Wonder filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years, Kai Millard Morris. On August 3,PEOPLE Magazine confirmed that Wonder and his wife are calling it quits after separating in 2009 and trying to figure out their marriage. This information was news to the public, making the divorce announcement even more surprising. Unfortunately, things just don't work out sometimes.
According to PEOPLE, Wonder "cites irreconcilable differences and requests joint custody of the couple's two sons, ages 10 and 7. The musician, 63, states that he will pay both spousal and child support." The divorce proceedings will likely go off without a hitch. Both Stevie and his ex seem to be on the same page and no one is asking for anything outrageous (yet).
Stevie Wonder's divorce is sad as most marriages that fall apart tend to be. This was his second marriage and while many believed that he and Kai Millard Morris were happy together, it's hard to say what is going on behind closed doors. Fortunately they took the time to try and see what was best for them and their children and after three years of being separated, they realized that they were better off apart.
Divorce is hardly ever easy but when two people can come to terms with the truth and are willing to work together, things become a bit easier to handle. This seems to be the case for Stevie and Kai.
Stevie Wonder's divorce papers were filed on Friday in Los Angeles. In the state of California, divorce processing takes 6 months to finalize.
