Watch: The Trailer for 'An Honest Liar - The Story of the Amazing James Randi,'

You need to have a lot of gall or a lot of merit to call yourself "amazing." James Randi has both. In the late 1940s he began performing magic under the name of The Amazing Randi. By the early 1960s, Randi had become a television celebrity, a sort of mid-20th Century version of David Blaine, only not pretentious. What separated him from throngs of other magicians, illusionists and the likes was Randi's refusal to claim that any of his gifts were mystical. His own active skepticism made him a star, his tact essentially being to tell audiences, "Look, what I'm about to do isn't real," and then deliver a trick so meticulously designed that it still impressed the very people he just told he was about to lie to.
What makes Randi even more impressive, however, is that his skepticism extends far beyond his own performances. These days he's best known for the James Randi Educational Foundation, which offers a $1,000,000 prize to anyone who claims to have paranormal abilities and who is willing to submit their powers to his strict scientific tests. He regularly challenges well-known mediums like Sylvia Browne and John Edward to take the test, but to this day none have accepted his invitation; and of the lesser-known psychics who have, none have passed the test.
Randi is already no stranger to film and television, but now Justin Weinstein and Tyler Meason, two of the filmmakers behind Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey and Sons of Perdition respectively, are making a documentary about the man, appropriately titled An Honest Liar: The Story of the Amazing James Randi. The film will not only dive into his past and talk to other fellow expert skeptics like Adam Savage, Bill Nye, Richard Dawkins, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Penn and Teller, but it will also serve to document Randi's next grand debunking as he plans and assembles, "an Ocean’s Eleven-type team for a carefully orchestrated exposure of a fraudulent religious organization."
Sounds pretty great, no? Check out the Work-In-Progress trailer below and then head to AnHonestLiar.com for more info and to donate to the production.

Malaysia Bans Erykah Badu's Concert Over Allah tattoos

South East-Asian country ,Malaysia on Tuesday banned a planned concert by American singer Erykah badu after a photograph appeared showing the Grammy-winning singer with the Arabic word for Allah written on her body.
The popular singer was scheduled to perform Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur, but some Muslim groups said Badu was an unsuitable role model for young Malaysians after seeing a publicity photo of her with what appeared to be temporary tattoos of the word Allah on her bare shoulders.
A government committee that monitors concerts decided to forbid Badu's show because she has "offended the religious sensitivities" of Muslims by posing with such tattoos, an Information Ministry official .
The 41-year-old, Dallas-born singer had already arrived in Malaysia. "She can remain here as a tourist but will not be allowed to perform", the official said.
Information Minister Dr.Rais Yatim confirmed the decision on his Twitter account

Jay Z, Kanye West To Auction Off ‘Otis’ Maybach (for charity or illuminati?)

Hip hop heavyweights and joint collaborators on the ‘Watch The Throne‘ album, Jay Z and Kanye West are set to auction off the ‘re-modelled’ Maybach car used in their breath-taking 2011 ‘Otis‘ music video.
The $350,000 luxury vehicle which was famously de-constructed in the Spike Jonze-directed video is expected to be sold off at Phillips de Pury auction house on Thursday, March 8, 2012.Proceeds from the sale are expected to go towards funding a Save the Children charity foundation. Auctioneers hope to fetch about a hundred thousand dollars from the sale.
Simon de Pury, chairman of Phillips de Pury & Company, states ‘Jay-Z and Kanye West are towering figures in contemporary culture … Their video for ‘Otis’ became an instant classic. The Maybach they have transformed for it has the starring role.‘
Carolyn Miles, President and CEO of Save the Children went on to state that money brought in from the auction will benefit families in East Africa.
‘The funds raised from auctioning off the ‘Otis’ car are greatly needed to help sustain families over the next several months. We are grateful to Jay-Z and Kanye West for offering up pop culture history to do good for children in Africa.‘
Funds from the sale of the car are estimated to feed more than 4,300 children in the ‘Horn of Africa’.

5 Signs that Blue Ivy is the Antichrist

Babyonce, aka real name: Blue Ivy, has been hailed as the second coming — at least in the music world. The combination of Jay-Z’s swagger and Beyonce’s bootylicious dancing (yes, I did just pull all of you back to 2000 – I may have watched the “Bootylicious” music video a few days ago) in one tiny, adorable package could be dangerous. However, I do hope she was born doing the “Single Babies Ladies” dance.

Either way, we here at CollegeCandy have started having our suspicions about her — from her overhyped birth to the expulsion of other families from the NICU, we can’t help but wonder…are these signs that is Blue Ivy a tiny, very talented Damien? Check out the gallery to see my reasons why!

5. Performing other acts of evil
Blocking parents from the NICU for security, potentially smuggling in a surrogate, and generally being holier-than-thou about the whole pregnancy have created a series of "well that's kind of mean and unnecessary" comments on all Babyonce posts. While right now everything is on her parents, I'm terrified for Blue Ivy's evil future.

4. Performing counterfeit miracles
That is, pretending to perform miracles, but really just letting luck, or money, take over things. This is probably the place where I would mention the fake surrogate and Beyonce's "back and better than ever" body that will be in the tabloids within a few months. I'll just let you read between the lines.

3. Arrogance
Basically, the "I'm better than you" vibe is playing hard through all these signs. When it comes to this, arrogance of the "I'm not just better than you, I'm going to rule over you and destroy the world" variety is present. I'm officially terrified of a baby.
2. Opposes those who are worshipped
We all know that Blue Ivy is going to rebel hardcore against her parents - the creme de la creme of the music industry - but she's probably going to try to overthrow the government too. Y'all watch yourselves

1. Sitting In the Temple
In Biblical language, this is a way of saying "Living in a palace and lording over us." Which, let's just say, Blue Ivy's mom and pop are more guilty of this than her (I mean, she is only a few days old), but what's she gonna learn, huh? She's better than all those other NICU babies? Um, yeah, actually.

THE 84TH ACADEMY AWARDS

Tina Fey: Nice dress. Not as crazy about it as the commentators are. Maybe if it was a different color ... like red or coral

Octiva spencer best supporting actress she won

Viola Davis - Nominee, Best Actress (The Help) - I don't know how I feel about this dress though.

Brad pitt and angelina jolie The couple we just love to hate. Why are they working so well together? They're supposed to be miserable together while Jennifer Aniston is laughing her heart out. *

Rooney Mara - Best Actress Nominee (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) - Really liked her in the movie

George Clooney and his girlfriend, Stacy Kiebler. I don't feel bad that he didn't win the Oscar. His girlfriend already looks like a trophy anyway. That's a compliment by the way.

Jessica Chastain ... they said her dress is special. Oh, well

Michelle Williams - Nominee, Best Actress (My Night With Marilyn). She did not win. Better luck next time

Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz: Whose butt senior pass? I vote for J LO

When Octavia won. Awwwwwwww. One of my favorite moments for sure

Meryl Streep - Best Actress (Iron Lady). This was her 17th nomination and her 3rd dress though.
