Nigerian Senate withdraws anti-social media bill

The Senate has withdrawn the frivolous petition bill otherwise known as the Antisocial media bill sponsored by Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah. At the plenary today May 17th, the senate received the Report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights & Legal Matters that examined the legality of the bill.

During the deliberation of the committees report, Dino Melaye said the bill, if passed, will work against Whistleblowers who provide information to the police and other security agents.

Senator Shehu Sani while contributing to the debate, said the bill if passed will stifle the press and also silence social media. He commended the senate committee on Judiciary for standing against the passage of the bill.

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu posed a question to the senators who unanimously asked that the bill be stepped down.

Is YOUR marriage in trouble? Contempt, addiction and no sex are some of the signs your relationship is headed for divorce

No nookie: A lack of sex is a big sign that a marriage isn't going well, and Dr Keogh suggests going to a sex therapist if you and your partner are having problems
For some people divorce comes out of nowhere. For others it builds up over a long period of time.
So how do you know when issues with your spouse might lead to separation?
Clinical psychologist Dr Melissa Keogh has written an article for Kidspot indicating the seven signs your marriage is on the rocks and might be headed for divorce.
Whilst there are some that might seem obvious, other indicators are more subtle and worth paying attention to.

On the rocks: Clinical psychologist Dr Melissa Keogh has shared the seven signs that a marriage is heading for divorce
No nookie: A lack of sex is a big sign that a marriage isn't going well, and Dr Keogh suggests going to a sex therapist if you and your partner are having problems

ARE YOU HEADED FOR DIVORCE?

  • You're not having sex
  • Abuse from a partner
  • Untreated personality disorder in a partner
  • Serial infidelity
  • Addiction issues
  • Feelings of contempt
  • Not being able to recall fond memories of the relationship
One of the biggest warning signs - no nookie. A lack of sex in a relationship can be a sign of major problems according to Dr Keogh.
And whilst some people have fulfilling relationships with no sex, it's worth seeing a relationship counselor or sex therapist if you're having this issue.
Another warning sign is abuse, either physical, emotional or verbal, and controlling behaviors. If a partner is abusive, and won't change their behavior, then this can lead to the end of the relationship.
Something which can be linked to abusive behavior, is an untreated personality disorder which is another warning sign of a toxic relationship.

The victim, a 52-year-old man, was sitting in the distinctive orange McLaren on New Meeting Street on April 22, and had left the cash on the passenger seat

'Prior to the robbery, a group of young men took selfies next to the car. They may have uploaded these to social media sites such as Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook.
'We believe they witnessed the robbery and may have even pocketed some of the stolen cash.'
One of the suspects is described as a light-skinned black man, aged between 20 and 22 years old, about 6ft, with an athletic build and short black hair. He was wearing black jeans and a dark top.
