Horrific pics emerge of 25 women who were slaughtered in Baghdad after being branded prostitutes

Horrific pictures have emerged showing the bodies of some of the 25 women murdered in a raid on a Baghdad brothel. Gunmen wearing camouflage and carrying weapons fitted with silencers reportedly burst into two apartments in they city's Zayouna district on Saturday evening before massacring everyone inside.

Police arrived at the building to find blood streaming down the stairs. Inside they discovered the bodies of dozens of women scattered around two apartments. Continue...

Most of the victims appear to have been killed by gunshost wounds to the head. In one image the bodies of five women are seen slumped together on the floor of bathroom.

In another the bodies of eight women are seen lying in a pool of blood in what appears to be a living room. MailOnline has decided not to publish these images.
A message scrawled on a wall inside one of the apartments read: 'This is the fate of any prostitution.'

While no group has yet claimed responsibility for the murders, locals believe the killings were carried out by Shiite militants opposed to prostitution.

A police officer speaking on condition of anonymity said: 'When we walked up the stairs, we saw a couple of women's bodies and blood streaming down the stairs. We entered a flat and found bodies everywhere, some lying on the sofa, some on the ground, and one woman who apparently had tried to hide in a cupboard in the kitchen shot to death there.'

The attacks happened late on Saturday night at an apartment block in , a mixed Sunni and Shiite district of Baghdad.

Police believe men using silenced weapons carried out the executions, before scrawling 'this is the fate of any prostitution' on one of the doors.

Officers have now cordoned off the street, with residents reporting that the sole access point to the building has been blocked off.

Shiite militias have become more active on the streets of Baghdad since Sunni militants led by jihadist fighters took over large swathes of eastern and northern Iraq a month ago.

Malala convinces Jonathan to meet Chibok parents 3 months after kidnap

 Malala Yousafzai meets President Jonathan

Girl-child education advocate, Malala Yousafzai, accompanied by her dad, met with Pres. Jonathan today Monday July 14 at the State House. Speaking during the meeting, president Jonathan said;
“I personally believe that since about 50 per cent of our population are female, we will be depriving ourselves of half of our available human resources if we fail to educate our girls adequately or suppress their ambitions in any way. We are therefore taking steps to curb all forms of discrimination against girls and women, and have also undertaken many affirmative actions on their behalf" he stated. See more photos after the cut...

"Terror is relatively new here and dealing with it has its challenges. The great challenge in rescuing the Chibok girls is the need to ensure that they are rescued alive. The Govt and its security agencies were very mindful of the need to avoid the scenario in rescue attempts in other parts of the world where lives of abductees were lost in the efforts to rescue them.” President Jonathan said...

Mr. Jonathan promised scholarships for all the abducted girls.
———————————
Three months after the failure of the Nigerian security system led to the kidnap of over 250 teenage girls by the Boko Haram insurgent group, President Goodluck Jonathan has finally agreed to meet with the parents of the victims.
The girls were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School, Chibok on April 14, about a year after the president declared a state of emergency in the state to curtail the Boko Haram insurgency.
About 217 of the girls are still with their kidnappers after others escaped from the insurgents.
While it took the president almost a month to speak publicly on the kidnap, he is yet to visit Chibok and is yet to meet with the parents of the teenagers, despite local and international condemnation of the government’s actions and inactions.
However, on Monday, Mr. Jonathan declared he would finally meet with the parents of the victims.
He also promised scholarships for all the abducted school girls in any part of the country when they return home.
The President stated these when he received Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani school pupil and education activist from the town of Mingora.
Malala was shot by a Taliban gunman in 2012 for championing girl-child education and has been a promoter of the cause since she survived the attack.
Malala, who is in Nigeria on the commemoration of her 17th birthday, told journalists during a briefing after the meeting that Mr. Jonathan promised her that he would meet with the parents of the abducted girls as well as ensure that they are returned home safely.
Briefing journalists alongside the president’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati; her dad, Ziauddin Yousafzai; and the Director of Operations of Malala Foundation, Eason Jordan; the Pakistani teenager said she is in Nigeria to support girls’ education and advocate for the release of the Chibok girls.
July 14 is Malala Day, a day set aside by the United Nations for the world to focus on putting all girls in school.
She said she met with parents of some of the girls the previous day and they had expressed the longing to meet with the President and anybody who can help them find their girls.
“I am here in Nigeria on my 17th birthday for a price which is to see that every child goes to school,” Malala said. “This year, my objective is to speak up for my Nigerian sisters about 200 of them who are under the abduction of Boko Haram and I met the president, Goodluck Jonathan, for this purpose.”
“I convey the voice of my sisters who are out of school or who are still under the abduction of Boko haram. And for those girls who escaped from the abduction but still do not have education. And in the meeting, I highlighted the same issues which the girls and their parents told me in the past two days. The parents said they really want to meet with the president to share their stories with him. And I asked the president that if he wants to meet with the parents of the girls, the president assured me that he would meet with them,” she said.
She added that the parents of the girls “still have this hope that there is still someone who can help them. They asked me if there is any chance for them to meet the president because at this time, they need the president’s support. I am hopeful that these two promises, the return of the girls from Boko Haram and meeting with their parents, will be fulfilled and we will see it soon”.
Malala also told journalists that the Malala fund had raised $200,000 “and we want to use it to contribute to those children’s education. We have started working with two organisations here in Nigeria to be able to help these girls continue their education”.
The teenage activist, who noted that having as much as 10.5 million children out of school in Nigeria was not encouraging as some of these children can end up as terrorists or being violated, also urged the president to increase the budgetary funding for the education sector.
“If Nigeria must have a bright future, every child must have an opportunity to go to school,” she said.
The Director of Operations of Malala Foundation also told journalists that Mr. Jonathan said to Malala that “he can guarantee that all the girls that have been kidnapped including the ones that escaped will be given scholarships to go to school in other parts of the country”.
Malala said from her interaction with the president, she deduced that he is pained by the girls’ situation who he described as his own daughters and was feeling the pains of their sufferings.
“The president has expressed his solidarity with those girls and his sadness. He has assured that these girls will come back home safely. He has several options but that he will choose the best to ensure the girls are released safely,” she said.
At the briefing, Mr. Abati said the president used the opportunity of the meeting to take Malala through some of the programmes being carried out by the federal government.
He mentioned the Presidential Initiative for the North East, an economic recovery programme that the federal government has embarked upon with collaboration of state governments in the north east; and the Safe School Initiative which has already been launched with an initial $10 million fund.
He added that Mr. Jonathan emphasised his commitment to making sure that schools are safe, every child enjoys right to education and that that right is no way violated by anyone.
Mr. Abati said the president also announced that he would this week launch the Victims Support Fund for victims of terror and a committee will be set up in partnership with state governments, civil society, and other stakeholders.

Girl dies from brain-eating amoeba: Here's what you need to know

Brain-eating amoeba kills Kansas girl: Are your kids safe in the water?

Girl dies from brain-eating amoeba

A 9-year-old girl in Kansas recently died from an infection caused by Naegleria fowleri — commonly known as brain-eating amoeba. Hally Nicole Yust became ill after spending time in four different lakes near her Kansas home. Her illness progressed quickly and she died last Wednesday. Naegleria fowleri is a microscopic organism that thrives in warm bodies of freshwater, such as lakes, rivers or hot springs. It can also lurk in improperly maintained swimming pools. The amoeba enters through the nose and travels to the brain, and it is suspected that Yust became infected while waterskiing.

Should families avoid being in the water?

Infection with a brain-eating amoeba is extremely uncommon, and while it is often fatal, the risk of contracting it is very, very low. Yust's family has encouraged others to continue swimming and enjoying the water. I think they're extraordinarily brave for sharing their story in their time of grief. I don't know if I could encourage other families to go swimming in lakes if my child had gotten sick and died from being in one.
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), there have been 34 infections reported in the entire country from 2004 to 2013. When you consider how many people spend their summers in swimming pools, lakes and rivers the percentage is very small.

How can you reduce your chances of infection?

While the infection rate is very low, you should still play it safe — especially in warm bodies of water. Since the amoeba enters the body through the nose, a good way to stay safe is to keep your head above water while swimming. If you're going to be swimming under the water or engaging in water sports like waterskiing, hold your nose, use nose clips or wear goggles that also cover the nose. Avoid digging in or stirring up sediment in lake or riverbeds, which can move potential infectious agents around. If the water and air temperatures are high and water levels are low, avoid swimming entirely. It's better to play it safe when so much is at stake.

Watching Mo'Hits disband is the saddest moment in my career - Sunday Are

In a recent interview with City People magazine, popular artiste manager, Sunday Are, who manages stars like Omawunmi, D'Prince and others, said seeing Mo'Hits disband was the saddest moment in his career. He said he helped build the Mo'Hits brand and managed them for a while but he eventually left and not long after he left, they disintegrated
"Yes, I helped in building the brand, then I decided to focus on other things. There was no issue between us, we ran Mo'Hits like a family thing and we are still family. They are like my brothers. It was shortly after I left that Mo'Hits disbanded. Seeing the Mo'Hits that I helped grow go defunct was the saddest moment in my career. I waded in and tried to resolve their differences so as not to let the name die but I was made to realize it has happened and there was nothing anybody can do about it. I am happy that they are doing great individually and they are still friends. I would love to see them work together again. That is my prayer" he said

CREEPY: This Romanian Woman Claims Grandmother Took A 'Selfie' On Her Phone To Warn Her She Was Being Punished In The Afterlife( See Photos)

Gina Mihai, 34, has received a selfie from her dead grandmother who is being punished in the spirit world because she has not given food to the poor for three years
Gina Mihai, 34, has received a selfie from her dead grandmother who is being punished in the spirit world because she has not given food to the poor for three years
A Romanian woman has caused a lot of panic in her town, and left many baffled after claiming that her dead grandma took over her phone to send her a 'selfie' of her suffering in the after life.
Since the news spread, churches in Scurtesti in souteastern Romania have been packed with panicking locals seeking refuge and pleading for God's forgiveness.
‘When I switched the phone on I was horrified to see my dead grandmother's face,’ said Gina Mihai, 34.
‘She had what looked like a snake around her neck, and the whole image looked as if it had been taken through a hole, like it was shot through a tear in the fabric that separates the living from the dead.
‘I took it to a fortune-teller who told me that my grandmother was sending me a message from the other side, the snake around her neck was a symbol of the fact that she was being punished in the other life for some sin.

‘By contacting us she was telling us that if we were to pray for her, we would still be able to save her soul.’
Miss Mihai and her family have been spending much of their time since praying in church along with dozens of other families terrified about the implications of a snake wrapped ghost sending a message from the other side.
Once a year there is a feast, the service of alms, in which Romanians travel to the local graveyard and hand over food as a gesture to the spirits in the afterlife.
The food itself is in reality handed over to the poor at the end of the day, but the gesture is seen as regarding nourishment for those who have died and are now in the afterlife.
‘My grandmother died three years ago and I haven't taken any food for her to the graveyard. I was making doughnuts at the time and didn't want to get the phone dirty so I put it in my pocket, and when I took it out there was the image on the phone,’ said Miss Mihai.

The fortuneteller told me that was a mistake not to have paid tribute to her with an offering of food, and it was significant that she contacted me while I was cooking. I have taken doughnuts to the cemetery every day since then.’
Florica Mihai, another relative, said: ‘The village priest told me that we need to do 40 days of alms to make up for those that we missed and we are doing it now. We want to help her soul to be saved.’

This story gives me the creeps. Do you think she made it up? Can this be real? Can the dead really communicate through technology? These days, the occurrences of bizarre things is very rampant and one cannot  outrightly rule out anything. Do leave your comments.

Tracy Morgan pictured in a wheelchair as he is spotted for the first time since his car crash

Comedian Tracy Morgan pictured heading out in a wheelchair with his left leg bandaged as he's spotted for the first time since he was injured in a horrific crash that killed his friend, comedian James McNair. Tracy Morgan left a rehabilitation facility in New Jersey yesterday, five weeks after the limousine van he was riding in was hit from behind by a Wal-Mart truck on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Morgan was taken home where he will embark on 'aggressive out-patient treatment' to heal from the serious injuries he suffered. The comedian, who suffered a broken leg and broken ribs, is suing Wal-Mart over the crash, saying that Wal-Mart should have known that its driver had been awake for over 24 hours and that his commute of 700 miles from his home in Georgia to work in Delaware was 'unreasonable.' The suit also alleges the driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing the crash.
