Breaking!!! Half of a Yellow Sun banned

After much anticipation for the film, Nigerians might not get to watch Half of a Yellow sun after all. I can confirm to you that the Nigerian Film Sensors board has forbade the film for being aired. So it will not be on cinema, Tv, or even on CD. The board did not give reasons for the ban but I can bet that it has to do with the hot and steamy sex scenes in the movie. At one point, a 'live' breast was shown in the movie. Before now, there had been anticipation that Nigerians will not buy the sex scenes, but no one thought of NFVCB ban. So it's official, no Half of a Yellow sun for now.

Press release from producers reads:
Shareman Media, the Nigerian producers, and FilmOne Distribution, the Nigerian distributors, of the feature film, Half of a Yellow Sun, announces as follows:

"The highly anticipated release of Half of a Yellow Sun in Nigeria has been postponed due to delays in obtaining certification from the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board for the public release of the film.  Subject to obtaining the certification of the Board, the film is now rescheduled for release on 2nd May 2014."

Governor Murtala Nyako, who confirmed this to newsmen on Sunday, said he was yet to be officially informed why the police officers were withdrawn.
It was gathered that the number of security operative attached to the government house was reduced from 170 to 30 in the past few days.
It was further gathered that about 30 security operatives that were suppose to be redeployed had been directed to mount security in Yola, Abuja and the Lagos offices of Adamawa state government.
When contacted, Ahmed Sajoh, the Director of Press to the state governor confirmed that Nyako, was not informed either by the state's Police Commissioner or the headquarters in Abuja, about the decision, adding that the governor was keeping his fingers crossed
"We are waiting until Monday (Today) to see whether they will inform us. We don’t want to impugn anything for now. We are keeping our fingers crossed" he said. "We do not know the reason for the withdrawal. They may have their reason".
When asked if the withdrawal had compromised the governor's security, Sajoh affirmed that Nyako doesn't reside in the government House, but his personal house which is flooded by soldiers, police and other security operatives.
The state Commissioner of Police, Daniel Abakasanga, when contacted for confirmation refused to answer calls made to his mobile phone, while DSP Othman Abubakar, the state's Police Public Relations Officer (PPPRO) also declined to comment on the issue.
Efforts to get reaction from Frank Mba, the police headquarters spokesman also failed as he was not answering his call.
It would be recalled that the state governor was highly criticised last Wednesday at the expanded security meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, over his memo to the Northern Governors Forum accusing the president of genocide in the north-east region regarding the fight on terrorism.
