Gunmen ‘burn churches, border posts’ in Borno

Suspected members of the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram set fire to churches and border posts in northeastern Nigeria on Sunday, residents said, but it was not immediately known if there were casualties.

Around 50 gunmen in cars and on motorcycles carried out the attacks on three churches and border posts with neighbouring Cameroon, opening fire on police and chanting Allahu Akbar, (God is Greatest), residents said.

Among the security posts burned were offices for immigration, customs and the secret police and a quarantine building in the city of Gamboru Ngala, about 140 kilometres (80 miles) from the Boko Haram stronghold in Maiduguri.

“The gunmen believed to be Boko Haram were around 50 in number and came in cars and on motorcyles around 8:30 am and attacked the security offices at the border posts, burning them,” resident Modugana Ibrahim told AFP.

“They opened fire on the security personnel but it is hard to say if anybody was hurt or killed,” Ibrahim said.

Another resident, Hamidu Ahmad, said the gunmen went into town “chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ and burnt down the divisional police station and three churches”.

Violence linked to the Boko Haram insurgency in northern and central Nigeria is believed to have left some 3,000 people dead since 2009, including killings by the security forces.

Thankfully, Tyson’s now got his life back on track it seems and as reported by RadarOnline.com, the heavyweight champ is now happy with third wife Lakiha Spencer and working on a national tour ‘Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth’, that has pulled him out of bankruptcy.

And Brad is also set to walk down the aisle anyday with other half Angelina Jolie. But, unlike their celeb status, reports suggest that the pair want to keep it ‘a simple affair’.

“One thing’s for sure, he says it’s going to be all about family: a simple affair with Angie and the kids,” People magazine’s senior writer Jennifer Garcia revealed recently.

Man Robs Bank Just Hours After Prison Release

Christopher Franklin Weaver was arrested on Thursday and charged with Federal Bank robbery just hours after he was released from an Oregon prison. He was released in an effort to clear out some overcrowded under budget prisons but it seems like they clearly missed on this one. 30 inmates were released along with Weaver on Thursday from the Lane County Jail in Eugene, Oregon. Her appearance in the photo is such a marked departure from, say, her Lotus cover artwork, that it led Xtina fans on Twitter to speculate that the pic had been digitally altered to make the singer look worse. So is it true — was there shady Photoshopping afoot?

Based on our (totally unscientific analysis), the answer is no. We returned to the original, unaltered photo directly from the photo agency — as seen in the split pic above — and except for the direction Xtina is facing, the photos are virtually identical.
