Neighbourly Rage: Pregnant woman remanded in Kirikiri for biting off neighbour’s breast
The Magistrate’s Court in Ejigbo, Lagos has remanded a pregnant woman, Funke Jamiu, in Kirikiri prison custody for biting off a chunk of her neighbour’s breast in a fight.
The Justice, M. B Folami, gave the order after Jamiu pleaded guilty to the offence and also adjourned the case till November 24 for sentencing.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Oluwafemi Adeleye told the court that the accused had on ,November 4 inflicted injuries on her co-tenant, Bola Ajiboye during an altercation at No. 17, Awolo St., Isheri-Osun, Ijagemo, a Lagos suburb.
Adeleye said, “The defendant, who confessed to have committed the act, did not only inflict her co-tenant with bruises but also used her fingers and her teeth to cut off part of Ajiboye’s breast.”
Jamiu was reported to have started the fight accusing the victim of spreading negative rumours about her.
“The other neighbours in the compound, however, involved the police, when the situation was uncontrollable,’’ the prosecutor said.
The offence, according to him, contravened section 24 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

Female anti-gay activist charged for kidnapping, drugging, and making sex tape with teenage girl
A female conservative lawyer who works for the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), an anti-gay consortium of attorneys which legally challenges gay rights in court, is accused of kidnapping a teenage girl and taking her to Canada for sex.
The Concord Monitor reports:
A Manchester lawyer took a teenage girl to Canada, had her engage in sexual activity and convinced her to let it be filmed, according to federal indictments.FBI agents swiftly arrested Lisa Biron yesterday morning as she awaited a hearing on child pornography charges at Manchester’s district court. About 9 a.m. FBI agents entered the courtroom, told Biron to leave her belongings and took her into an adjoining conference room where she remained for several minutes before coming out in handcuffs.
The accused kidnapper, Lisa Biron, is facing federal charges which include transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, possession of child pornography and five counts of sexual exploitation of children.
Witnesses also report seeing Biron in possession of cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy. Biron also sent threatening text messages to the person who turned her in to the police, telling him he would have to watch his back forever if he turned her in.
Biron sent messages to friends indicating that she might be fleeing to that socialist haven Cuba, of all places, because she had “nothing left”.
Irony: On her Facebook page, Biron lists the Bible as her favorite book.
Nigerian homosexual gets asylum in the US after suffering persecution back home
In the United States, this event surely would have been traumatizing. But in Nigeria, where Oliver lived until he recently got asylum status, it almost cost him his life.
Oliver, still trembling from fear, did not want to use his last name. “I used to live with my mother, but now she said I should never come back,” he said. “She is the only family I have.”
The Nigerian Senate has passed a bill that criminalizes homosexuality, forcing even families to report their loved ones if they are in same-sex relationships. Its House of Representatives will soon vote on it.
“It has huge implications,” said Oliver, who is now 26 and living in the Queens section of New York City. “It will actually make families torn apart and open the doors to persecution of those even perceived to be gay.”
Under the proposed criminal code, Oliver could be sent to jail for 14 years. If enacted, the law would also penalize any organization that provides services to lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender citizens.
Oliver is one of 102 LGBT applicants to win that status in the United States, thanks to the pro bono work of Immigration Equality. They come countries like Jamaica (31) to El Salvador (6) to Russia (7).
As an advocate, Oliver spoke out against homophobia across Africa, but it only made his own life worse. In one of the most terrifying incidents, his uncle found out and made him seek help in the church. There, he was locked up for days with angry mobs outside. “It was horrifying,” he said. “I wanted to kill myself.”
But in July, while attending the International AIDS Conference in the U.S., he sought the protection of asylum. He received his letter from the U.S. government just two weeks ago. “It is so exciting to be away from some of the things that limited me and my potential,” Oliver said. “Here the police can protect and not persecute me.”
Oliver will not be able to return to his native countries until he’s a citizen – in about five years. But he say he’s “excited” about his new life.
Oliver, who lived at first in a shelter, is now temporarily living with friends. Finding work has been a challenge, but eventually, he hopes to go back to school to get a master’s degree in public health.
“Hopefully, I will build on myself and when I am ready and able, I pray I can go back home and help,” he said. “But now, I feel like one of the lucky few to live another day.”
Nigerian Girl Copies Rihanna's Breast Tattoo
A Nigerian girl has copied Rihanna’s breast tattoo. Rihanna put the tattoo on under her breast to pay tribute to her late grandmother who died in July this year.
The tattoo represents an Egyptian goddess, Isis. Isis is said to symbolize the eternal mother, friend to slaves, sinners and the helpless.
