Startenders have risen to prominence in the last few years with the rise of Instagram, where they command huge followings.
New York City strippers are speaking out against what they say is unfair treatment at the hands of club promoters and managers.
With the rise of "bottle girl" bartenders in the city, dancers say they're dealing with unfair treatment, including insufficient pay and racial discrimination, The Washington Post reported. According to strippers, bottle girls — who often are just as scantily clad as strippers — are given preferential treatment and hurt strippers' profits, sometimes literally taking dancers' cash off of tables.
About a week ago, strippers organized under the hashtag #NYCStripperStrike to shine a light on these issues.

The Saudi Interior Ministry said early Monday that the crash happened in Saudi Arabia's Asir province.

They gave no cause for the crash, but said a search of the wreckage was underway.

The Saudi-owned satellite news channel Al-Arabiya says the crash killed Prince Mansour bin Murquin and seven others. Prince Mansour is the deputy governor of Asir province.

US Senator Rand Paul's ribs broken in assault at home

The assault on US Senator Rand Paul is far worse than initially thought, reports say.
Mr Paul is recovering from five broken ribs and bruises to his lungs and is in "considerable" pain, a spokesman said.
He was assaulted at his gated community home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Friday, allegedly by a neighbour who has since been charged with assault.
It is unclear when the former 2016 presidential candidate will be able to return to work in Washington.
"Senator Paul has five rib fractures including three displaced fractures," Doug Stafford, a senior adviser to Mr Paul, said in a statement reported by US media.

American woman arrested in Zimbabwe for allegedly calling Mugabe 'a sick man' on Twitter

An American woman has been arrested in Zimbabwe for allegedly insulting President Robert Mugabe on Twitter.

Martha O’Donovan is charged with subversion and insulting the president for allegedly calling Mr Mugabe a “sick man” in a tweet, according to the Associated Press. The subversion charges carry up to 20 years in prison.

Ms O’Donovan is accused of tweeting “We are being led by a selfish man and sick man," and posting a photo suggesting Mr Mugabe is surviving on a catheter. The 25-year-old has called the allegations “baseless and malicious" in a statement.

The New York University graduate works for social media outlet Magamba TV, which describes itself as “Zimbabwe's leading producer of cutting edge, political satire and comedy shows”. The company is now using its Twitter account to post updates on Ms O’Donovan’s trial, along with the hashtag “#FreeMartha”.

Mexico police detain US 'sect leader' after triple murder

Police in Mexico have arrested a suspected US sect leader in the northern state of Chihuahua.
Police raided three houses and two ranches belonging to Orson William Black Jr, 56, who is wanted on charges of child abuse in the US.
Prosecutors say he is also a suspect in the killing of three US citizens in the area in September.
Twenty-six other people living on the properties were also detained.
The arrests come less than two months after 23-year-old Jesse Barlow and brothers Robert and Michael Black, aged 19 and 15 respectively, were shot dead at Rancho El Negro.
It is not clear if they were relatives or followers of Mr Black, or if they had been taken to the property against their will.

The ranches are located in a colony set up by a Mennonite Christian group in 1922.

Scottish childcare minister Mark McDonald has resigned over allegations about his private life.

The MSP for Aberdeen Donside apologised "unreservedly to anyone I have upset or who might have found my behaviour inappropriate".

He said he was standing down as minister as a result.

In a statement, he said: "Some of my previous actions have been considered to be inappropriate - where I have believed myself to have been merely humorous or attempting to be friendly, my behaviour might have made others uncomfortable or led them to question my intentions.
"My behaviour is entirely my responsibility and I apologise unreservedly to anyone I have upset or who might have found my behaviour inappropriate.

"In light of my position in government, I believe it would not be appropriate for me to continue to serve in my role in the Scottish Government at this time and I have tendered my resignation as a minister.

Corey Feldman Says He Gave the Names of Alleged Molesters to Police Years Ago

  
Corey Feldman alleged Monday that he was molested in the 1980s by a current Los Angeles Dodgers’ employee who “ran a child’s club in Hollywood” at the time.

“The Goonies” actor would not name the alleged abuser, citing security fears and possible legal repercussions, but said the man was one of two people who sexually abused him when he was a Hollywood child star three decades ago.

“I’ve told these names to the police,” Feldman said during an appearance on NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today” on Monday. “I’ve told the names to investigative reporters. Nobody’s ever put it out there.”

Feldman said he identified the alleged abusers in 1993 to police officers in Santa Barbara, California, while they interrogated him about sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson. (Feldman has denied that Jackson was a pedophile.)

Arrest warrant has been issued for Harvey Weinstein first public accuser Rose McGowan for drug possession

  

An arrest warrant has been issued for actress Rose McGowan for felony possession of a controlled substance.McGowan was the first actress who publicly called out, mogul movie producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct.

The felony charge comes from a police investigation of personal belongings left behind on a United flight arriving at Washington Dulles International Airport on January 20.

Police say the items tested positive for narcotics. Adding that the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department obtained the warrant on February 1.

Police say the arrest warrant was issued way before her rape accusation against Weinstein. Adding that they've attempted to contact McGowan so she can appear in a Loudoun County, Virginia, court, to no avail.

US captures key militant in Benghazi attack

American special operations forces captured a militant Sunday who was allegedly involved in the attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya, two US officials confirmed to Fox News.

US officials identified the suspect as Mustafa al-Imam.

The attack resulted in the death of the American ambassador and three other Americans.

A Pakistani woman has been arrested after a plot to murder her husband with a poisoned glass of milk led to the death of 13 family members.

The woman’s mother-in-law used the tainted milk to make lassi, according to police, after her husband refused the glass. A total of 27 people, including several children, suffered poisoning from the yoghurt-based drink.

Police in Muzaffargarh, a city in south Punjab, say that Asiya concocted the plot to “avenge” being married against her wishes two months ago.

After an earlier attempt to flee to her parent’s home was foiled, she was provided with poison by her alleged lover, said a Muzaffargarh district police officer, Nazim Ali.

Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and his associate Richard Gates were charged Monday with engaging in money laundering, in part to hide payments from Ukraine. “In furtherance of the scheme,” the indictment accuses the two of using offshore accounts to pay a list of vendors in what it alleges are illegal wire transfers, which allowed them to avoid U.S. reporting and taxation rules.

“In order to use the money in the offshore nominee accounts of the Manafort–Gates entities without paying taxes on it, Manafort and Gates caused millions of dollars in wire transfers from these accounts to be made for goods, services, and real estate,” according to the indictment.

As a result of the more than $75 million that allegedly went through hidden offshore accounts, Manafort “used his hidden overseas wealth to enjoy a lavish lifestyle in the United States, without paying taxes on that income,” the indictment claims. It alleges Manafort laundered more than $18 million to buy personal property, goods, and services.

Actor Anthony Rapp Alleges Kevin Spacey Made a Sexual Advance Toward Him When He Was 14 Years Old

Actor Anthony Rapp has come forward with allegations that Kevin Spacey made a sexual advance toward him when he was 14 years old, BuzzFeed reports. Rapp, currently starring in Star Trek: Discovery, was a child actor in the Broadway production of George Furth’s Precious Sons in 1986 when he met Spacey, who was appearing that year in a revival of Long Day’s Journey Into Night. According to Rapp, Spacey befriended him at an after-show party; when they ran into each other at a later event, Spacey took Rapp and a 17-year-old friend of his to the Limelight, then invited him to a party at his apartment a few days later. (Rapp’s mother had relocated to New York with him during the run of the play, but he sometimes went to work events on his own.) Rapp says he went to the party, but since he was the only child in an apartment full of adults, got bored and ended up watching TV alone in the bedroom. At the end of the night, after the other guests had left, Rapp alleges that Spacey picked him up, placed him on the bed, and lay down on top of him, forcing Rapp to push him off. Spacey, now 58, was 26 years old at the time of the alleged incident. Rapp told BuzzFeed he’s never doubted Spacey’s intentions:

Two Women, and Their Dogs, Rescued After Nearly 5 Months Lost at Sea

They were supposed to trade one island paradise for another: a monthlong sailing trip in spring, from Honolulu to Tahiti.

But on Wednesday morning, they were discovered in the wrong hemisphere, 5,000 miles off course and nearly six months into a dream that had curdled into a nightmare.

Jennifer Appel and Tasha Fuiaba were rescued by the Navy vessel the Ashland 900 miles south of Japan, according to a statement released by the Navy on Thursday. After setting out in early May, a storm claimed their 50-foot boat’s engine on May 30. They spent the next five months adrift at sea and unable to make contact with others.

Saudi Arabia ripped after granting citizenship to robot

Saudi Arabians are up in arms because a humanoid robot who doesn’t “cover up” or abide by the country’s strict laws was granted citizenship at a tech conference in Riyadh this week.

Sophia, created by Hanson Robotics in Hong Kong, was given official status Wednesday at the Future Investment Initiative conference.

“I am very honored and proud for this unique distinction,” she told the crowd, according to the BBC. “This is historical to be the first robot in the world to be recognized with a citizenship.”

Spanish leader asks Senate for power to take over Catalonia

In an extraordinary showdown over the future of the country, the Spanish and Catalan parliaments staged dueling sessions Friday — as the central government pressed for permission to take over control of the breakaway region, and the secessionists in Catalonia threatened to declare independence.

In Madrid, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy urged the Senate to grant the central government unprecedented powers to establish control over Catalonia, which earlier this month defied Spanish authorities and held a referendum that backed the push for statehood.

If the Senate invokes the never-before-used Article 155 of Spain’s 1978 constitution, the central government could move swiftly to remove the Catalan president, suspend his ministers and assume authority over the region’s public media, police and finances.

Rajoy told the Senate that his government had repeatedly tried to rein in the secessionists in Catalonia. He scoffed at Catalan President Carles Puigdemont’s repeated offers of “dialogue” to end the impasse.

NSA contractor leaked US hacking tools by mistake, Kaspersky says

An incredible sequence of security mistakes led to a US National Security Agency contractor leaking his own confidential hacking tools to Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab, the Moscow-based company has alleged.

The claim comes as part of an internal investigation into allegations that the company helped Russian spies discover and steal the NSA files, by locating and flagging the contractor.

Kaspersky Lab does not dispute that it discovered hacking tools on the computer of a user of one of its consumer antivirus products. But the timeline it lays out is one of multiple serious security errors on the part of the user, believed to be an NSA contractor.

According to Kaspersky’s report, the contractor was using the company’s home antivirus software when it detected a piece of malware attributed to the “Equation Group” (the security firm’s internal codename for what is believed to be the NSA’s hacking team) on 11 September 2014.

Some time after that, the contractor apparently disabled the Kaspersky antivirus software, the company says, but is unable to pinpoint the exact date as that information is not logged. On 4 October 2014, it appears that the contractor turned the antivirus software back on – because he had downloaded and installed some malware while trying to pirate Microsoft Office.

Witnesses say 4 men, now fugitives, changed clothes after killing Kim Jong Nam

Four men suspected of killing the North Korean leader's half-brother at a Malaysian airport changed their clothes and appearance to escape detection, a police witness said on Thursday.

The four, who are still at large, are charged together with two women - Indonesian Siti Aisyah and Doan Thi Huong from Vietnam - with killing Kim Jong Nam at Kuala Lumpur airport's budget terminal on Feb. 13.

Prosecutors in the Malaysian court say Siti Aisyah and Huong conspired with the men to murder Kim, by smearing his face with liquid VX, a chemical poison banned by the United Nations.

On Tuesday, Lind shared a since-deleted post to Instagram recalling an interaction with the former president three years ago that left her feeling unsettled.

According to Lind, she and her costars met Bush during a Houston screening of their AMC series Turn: Washington's Spies, about America's first spy ring. It was there that she was accosted by Bush not once, but twice, she alleged.

"He didn't shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side," Lind wrote in her caption. "He told me a dirty joke. Stephen Paddock’s Missing Hard Drive Deepens an Already Tough Case

Determining a motive for the man who committed one of the deadliest mass shootings in modern history continues to be an exasperating task for investigators. They have interviewed many of Stephen Paddock’s relatives and friends, and examined his travel, financial and health history. But they have yet to find anything that points to what drove him to kill 58 people at a concert in Las Vegas on Oct. 1.

On Wednesday, information emerged that adds to the complexity of the case. Mr. Paddock apparently removed the hard drive from at least one computer found in his room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, according to a law enforcement official.

Additionally, housekeepers had visited Mr. Paddock’s room, where he fired on the crowd below, more than once in the days before the shooting, but did not notice any sign of his large stockpile of weapons. He also ordered room service at least once, according to people with knowledge of the security response inside the hotel.

Fats Domino has died aged 89, an official from New Orleans coroner's office has confirmed. The singer was one of the most influential rock and roll stars of the fifties, best known for his hits Blueberry Hill, Ain't That A Shame and Walking To New Orleans. Domino passed away at home in Louisiana surrounded by his family and friends; US media have reported that he died of natural causes.

The New Orleans singer sold more than 65 million records. His first, The Fat Man, was released in 1949 and was widely considered to be the first ever rock and roll record. His music influenced artists in the sixties and seventies, including Elvis Presley, who said "this gentleman was a huge influence on me when I started out".

A new ransomware campaign has hit a number of high profile targets in Russia and Eastern Europe.

Dubbed Bad Rabbit, the ransomware first started infecting systems on Tuesday 24 October, and the way in which organisations appear to have been hit simultaneously immediately drew comparisons to this year's WannaCry and Petya epidemics.
Following the initial outbreak, there was some confusion about what exactly Bad Rabbit is. Now the initial panic has died down, however, it's possible to dig down into what exactly is going on.

1. The cyber-attack has hit organisations across Russia and Eastern Europe

Organisations across Russian and Ukraine -- as well as a small number in Germany, and Turkey -- have fallen victim to the ransomware. Researchers at Avast say they've also detected the malware in Poland and South Korea.

Russian cybersecurity company Group-IB confirmed at least three media organisations in the country have been hit by file-encrypting malware, while at the same time Russian news agency Interfax said its systems have been affected by a "hacker attack" -- and were seemingly knocked offline by the incident.

A passenger was killed by a falling rock, and five teens are now charged with murder

Kenneth Andrew White was riding in the passenger seat of a van on Interstate 75 outside Flint, Mich., last Wednesday when a six-pound rock sliced through the windshield, striking him in the chest and head, police said. The 32-year-old construction worker was pronounced dead at a hospital.

“He was a good man and a good father,” Amiee Cagle, his fiancee, told news station WDIV Local 4. “For some senseless act, for it to be just a rock, just to take him so soon.”
