THAI KING HONORED LIKE A GOD AND BURNED ON MASSIVE FUNERAL PYRE AT LAVISH $90 MILLION CEREMONY

10_25_Thai_Funeral
Hundreds of black-clad mourners have lined the streets of central Bangkok at the start of an extravagant five-day funeral for Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died over a year ago.

For millions of Thai people it is the first funeral of a ruling monarch of their lifetimes, given that Bhumibol, also known as King Rama IX, was the world’s longest reigning monarch, ruling for 70 years and 126 days before his death on October 13 last year, aged 88.

Following his death, the country’s prime minister announced a one-year mourning period that was extended twice and will conclude on October 29, during which all government officials were made to wear black—a provision also observed by some members of the public who avoid wearing colourful clothing.
The monarch’s son King Maha Vajiralongkorn, known as Rama X, inherited the throne but won’t officially be crowned until the end of his father’s funeral rites.

The new king spends large portions of his time abroad and especially in Munich, Germany, where his son is at school, but was seen on Wednesday arriving at the palace with his two daughters. He lit candles in front of his father’s coffin and a symbolic royal urn, Reuters reported.

Deathbed confession may crack case of the 'Crazy Brabant Killers'

A police sketch of one of the suspects in the Crazy Brabant Killers gang
A murder mystery that has gripped Belgium for 30 years may be on the verge of being solved after a former policeman apparently confessed on his deathbed to being one of the “Crazy Brabant Killers” – a group that killed 28 people in a string of robberies in the early 1980s.

During a three-year spree, the Brabant Killers staged more than a dozen raids on supermarkets, hostels and a gunsmiths, during which they shot customers, staff and even children. Then they suddenly ceased their activities and disappeared in 1985.

The killers’ proficiency in handling weapons raised suspicions at the time that there was a link with the gendarmerie, a former paramilitary police force of Belgium. Conspiracy theories circulated that the group was part of an attempt by the far left or right to undermine the state.

“I understood that it was he who had taken off my clothes. I do not know exactly how far he had gone.

“The first thing I thought was to get him away.

"My first reaction was anger, then I was ashamed and thought maybe I had agreed to something?”

Wayne Rooney party girl jokes about footballer’s manhood and dubs him Shrek

The footballer was arrested for drink-driving after meeting the party girl on a night out

Laura Simpson has since deleted the posts where she made reference to Rooney's manhood after the pair's now notorious night out in Cheshire.
The 29-year-old reportedly said the striker had "tekkers" and referred to him as "Shrek", the Metro reports.

She was asked "was he hung like a hamster or ogre?" and she replied "like an ogre".

The odd messages were swiftly deleted before she claimed a friend had got hold of her phone and had also posted tweets about drink-driving.

She later wrote: "I deleted the very insensitive tweet that my friend thought was funny at the time…obviously wasn’t, apologies #verystupidstory."
Her friend Jordan replied: "Couldn’t resist when she left her phone on the table…I could have put something far worse to be fair haha."

Simpson was with Rooney when he was stopped by police while drink-driving, after they met on a night out.

Police Say 3 Deaths Could Be Work Of Serial Killer 'Terrorizing' Tampa

Authorities believe the same individual is responsible for the deaths of Monica Caridad Hoffa, Anthony Naiboa and Benjamin Edward Mitchell.

A string of murders in Florida is sparking fears that a serial killer is targeting Tampa residents.

According to police, three people have been shot and killed this month, apparently at random. The victims have no known connections to each other and were all bus riders who were killed within a 1-mile radius of each other in central Tampa’s Seminole Heights neighborhood.

“When you look at the time frame, the proximity, that there is no apparent motive, that they are alone ― the victims are a lot of the time ― it’s clear to me that they’re all linked,” interim Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan said at a Friday press conference.
The victims have been identified as Monica Hoffa, 32; Benjamin Mitchell, 22; and Anthony Naiboa, 20.

Barack Obama couldn't stop laughing after George W. Bush whispered in his ear

All five living former U.S. presidents gathered at a hurricane relief concert in Texas to raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and Maria on Saturday night -- and the Internet can't stop obsessing about one moment between George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

During his time in office, Obama was known for his composure and, at times, even disposition. But over the weekend, the former president completely lost it at the relief event hosted by One America Appeal.
While Bill Clinton delivered a speech discussing the enduring disaster in Puerto Rico, the younger Bush smiled and appeared to whisper something to Obama, making him laugh behind Bill Clinton.

A Russian Ghost Submarine, its U.S. Pursuers and a Deadly New Cold War

a large ship in a body of water
The Krasnodar, a Russian attack submarine, left the coast of Libya in late May, headed east across the Mediterranean, then slipped undersea, quiet as a mouse. Next, it fired a volley of cruise missiles into Syria.

In the days that followed, the diesel-electric sub was pursued by the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush, its five accompanying warships, MH-60R Seahawk helicopters and P-8 Poseidon anti-sub jets flying out of Italy.

The U.S. and its allies had set out to track the Krasnodar as it moved to its new home in the Black Sea. The missile attack upended what had been a routine voyage, and prompted one of the first U.S. efforts to track a Russian sub during combat since the Cold War. Over the next weeks, the sub at points eluded detection in a sea hunt that tested the readiness of Western allies for a new era in naval warfare.
An unexpected resurgence in Russian submarine development, which deteriorated after the breakup of the Soviet Union, has reignited the undersea rivalry of the Cold War, when both sides deployed fleets of attack subs to hunt for rival submarines carrying nuclear-armed ballistic missiles.

When underwater, enemy submarines are heard, not seen—and Russia brags that its new subs are the world’s quietest. The Krasnodar is wrapped in echo-absorbing skin to evade sonar; its propulsion system is mounted on noise-cutting dampers; rechargeable batteries drive it in near silence, leaving little for sub hunters to hear. “The Black Hole,” U.S. allies call it.

He was charged a day earlier with vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving.

Trying to solve a question or a problem? Grandma knows best.

CBS New York reports one special grandmother is lending 100 years of wisdom to strangers on New York City's Upper West Side. Her makeshift office attracts a steady stream of New Yorkers, anxiously awaiting a chat with the woman who has 10 decades of life experience.

"For me, it was a thrill. She's just wonderful," one man said.

Inside the cardboard cut-out, you'll find a laptop with 100-year-old grandmother Eileen Wilkinson waiting to chat.

She may live clear across the country in Washington state, but thanks to her grandson, Mike Matthews — who is an adjunct social media professor at New York University – she's now sharing words of wisdom for free.

"You can be anything you want," Wilkinson said. "Don't complain about anything. You do something about it."

Over the past three months, hundreds of people have stopped by, chatting with Wilkinson like they were old friends.

Candela: The Italian town paying people to move there

candela-ghost-town---houses---Franceso-Pio-Delvecchio--Comune-Candela-.
The mayor of Italian town Candela has come up with a practical solution to its dwindling population number -- paying people to become residents.
Nicola Gatta wants the small medieval town in Puglia to shine like it did in the 1990s, when more than 8,000 people lived here. Today, there are just 2,700 residents.
So, to recover the town's lost grandeur, mayor Nicola Gatta is offering up to 2,000 euros ($2,350) to encourage people to relocate.
"I work each day with passion and commitment to bring Candela back to its ancient splendor," says Gatta. "Up until the 1960s, travelers called it 'Nap'licchie' (Little Naples), for it streets full of wayfarers, tourists, merchants and screaming vendors."
These days the Neapolitan buzz has been replaced by the silence of the surrounding green hills and pristine forests.

'Smirking' oligarch's daughter who killed five in car horror 'was racing another driver at almost double speed limit'

An oligarch's daughter who killed five people and injured a dozen more in a horror car incident had allegedly been racing another driver.

Alyona Zaitseva, a 20-year-old millionaire's daughter "jumped a red light and rammed into a crowd" at a pedestrian crossing, say police.

A new video suggests she could have been racing another car moments before colliding with a vehicle and ramming into helpless pedestrians waiting at a crossing in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

The CCTV shows two cars side by side travelling down a busy road with lots of traffic.

From the footage, it looks like the cars are moving faster than the rest of the vehicles on the street.

The video also appears to capture the moment two cars collide at a bend.

It was also revealed today that Zaitseva had been fined four times previously for breaking the speed limit.

There was carnage of the streets after her speeding Lexus struck a VW Touareg before completely overturning and landing on its wheels and then crashing into a group waiting to cross the road.

A Nigerian man serving life sentences for trying to set off a bomb in his underwear on a plane on Christmas Day 2009 is suing the U.S. Justice Department for denying his free speech and religious rights.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab received multiple life sentences after the attempted attack on the Amsterdam to Detroit flight, which he called part of his "religious duty" as a Muslim to wage jihad against the United States.

In a lawsuit filed in a Colorado federal court, he said authorities in the federal maximum security prison where he is being held were violating his constitutional rights by not allowing him to communicate with the outside world or practice his religion as a Muslim, court documents showed.

U.S. diplomat warns to be 'prepared for the worst' right after N. Korean official reportedly shuts down diplomacy

Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan told reporters on Tuesday that while the State Department remained focused on quelling tensions with North Korea through diplomatic channels, that the nation and world must remain prepared for the possibility that those efforts will fail.

"We must, however, with our allies in Japan and South Korea and elsewhere, be prepared for the worst should diplomacy fail,” Sullivan said, according to the Associated Press.

The comments come fresh off a report from CNN claiming a North Korean official said that the country is no longer interested in diplomacy until it develops the capabilities to build a long-range (ICBM) capable of hitting the East coast of the United States.

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino security guard Jesus Campos, who has been hailed for being the first to confront Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, gave his first public account of the attack, in an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

Campos and Mandalay Bay building engineer Stephen Schuck were DeGeneres' guests in an interview taped Tuesday.

"As I was walking down [the hallway], I heard rapid fire," Campos told DeGeneres in the interview. "I took cover, and I felt a burning sensation. I went to go lift my pant leg up and saw blood. That's when I called in on my radio that shots were fired."

The show released an eight-minute clip of the interview on Tuesday night, and the full episode will air Wednesday afternoon.

Campos laid out his recollection of the events leading up to Paddock's firing on a crowd at a country music festival across the street from the Mandalay Bay hotel on Oct. 1. Fifty-eight people were killed, and hundreds more were injured, in the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history.

Art X Lagos: West Africa's International Art Fair Returns Bigger and Bolder

We catch up with Art X Lagos founder Tokini Peterside on what to look forward to as West Africa's international art fair returns November 3.

One of West Africa's largest art fairs, Art X Lagos, is back for its second installment with bigger and bolder offerings. The three day event running from November 3 to 5 will showcase contemporary African art from 15 countries and feature 14 galleries representing African artists on the continent and the diaspora.
"This year we have more international galleries," Tokini Peterside, founder and director of Art X Lagos, says. "We've added a gallery from the UK, Cameroon, Senegal and Ivory Coast [to the initial list of galleries from] Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Mali. So there's greater diversity across Africa and the Diaspora."

Black Superheroes Matter: Why a 'Black Panther' Movie Is Revolutionary

Standing in the bay of a speeding Wakandan jet, a member of the African nation's special forces unit – the Dora Milaje – advises their king, T'Challa: "Don't freeze." Calmly, the leader replies "I never freeze." He's assured, regal, radiating a near subzero-temperature sense of cool. And then, donning the mask of the legendary superhero known as the Black Panther, he torpedo drops from the sky. A car explodes beneath him. He effortlessly somersaults through the air, lands sideways on a building in a neon-lit metropolis, races along the building's wall and sails right onto the speeding car. Then the Avenger skewers the driver's side tire and tosses it away like a bottle cap. Screen time: 10 seconds. How long have we been waiting to watch that moment become a reality? A lifetime.
Literally from the jump, director Ryan Coogler and Co. make it clear that we will be watching a black superhero fully in control and completely occupying the center-stage spotlight. Watch Boseman's Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, and you'll see a charismatic character who fills a void in the conflicted do-gooder group. Watch the new trailer, however – the one that dropped yesterday for his stand-alone film that hits theaters February 16th – and you'll see someone with the arrogance of Shaft, the coolness of Obama and the hot-headed impulsiveness of Kanye West. This T'Challa is accessible, awe-inspiring and perhaps most importantly, human. "I think the question that I'm trying to ask and answer in Black Panther is, 'What does truly mean to be African?'" the filmmaker recently told Rolling Stone. "The MCU has set itself in the real world as much as possible – so what does it mean for T'Challa to move around as this black man in a movie reality that tries to be a real world?"

Review 2017 Ferrari Califonia T

Ferrari keeps resisting most of the major trends in the automobile industry, following its own path. That being said, even Ferrari had to get with the times and offer a more sensible, everyday car. And thus, the California was born.

Keeping with Ferrari tradition, the California T isn't specifically marketed as the second generation California. Even so, it looks more like a facelift. But the big change is under the hood: Ferrari dropped the old 4.3-liter engine in favor of a 3.9 turbo. Hence the "T" in the name.

Tragically Hip's Gord Downie Dead at 53

The Tragically Hip: 10 Essential Songs

Gord Downie, the lead singer for the beloved Canadian alt-rock band the Tragically Hip, died Tuesday at the age of 53. The cause was terminal brain cancer.
"Last night, Gord quietly passed away with his beloved children and family close by," his family wrote in a statement. "Gord knew this day was coming – his response was to spend this precious time as he always had – making music, making memories and expressing deep gratitude to his family and friends for a life well lived, often sealing it with a kiss … on the lips.

"Gord said he had lived many lives," they added. "As a musician, he lived 'the life' for over 30 years, lucky to do most of it with his high school buddies. At home, he worked just as tirelessly at being a good father, son, brother, husband and friend. No one worked harder on every part of their life than Gord. No one."
Downie was diagnosed with brain cancer in December 2015, but didn't reveal his disease publicly until May 2016. That same summer, the Tragically Hip released a new album, Man Machine Poem, and embarked on a lengthy Canadian tour that culminated in an emotional final show: a hometown gig at the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario. The concert was broadcast live and viewing parties were held across Canada. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in attendance and the Toronto Police Department summed up the event's magnitude with a simple tweet: "Dear world, Please be advised that Canada will be closed tonight at 8:30 p.m. Have a #TragicallyHip day."

Sean Hughes: Comedian, actor and writer dies aged 51

Sean Hughes
Irish stand-up star and BBC quiz show panellist Sean Hughes has died aged 51.
Richard Bucknall, his former agent and promoter, said the "formidable" comic died in hospital on Monday and would be remembered for his "superb wit".
Hughes was a team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks on BBC Two and had his own Channel 4 sitcom, Sean's Show.
Fellow comedians, including Al Murray, Katy Brand and Jason Manford, have been paying tribute to the performer, who was also a writer and actor.

In 1990, Hughes - then 24 - became the youngest person to win the coveted Perrier Award - now known as the Edinburgh Comedy Award - at the Edinburgh Festival.
"I was told that I had won the Perrier award as I walked off stage after another sweaty performance," Hughes later wrote in The Guardian. "The judging panel rushed on to the stage to congratulate me.
"'Will it go to his head?'. I doubt it. If the panel had made it 10 minutes earlier, they would have seen two people walking out of my award-winning show."
Nica Burns, director of the awards, remembered him as "a huge talent" and "a very good writer" who had "instinctive timing from day one".
'Terribly sad news'
Comedian Al Murray recalled being inspired by the star's off-beat humour.

Malta blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia dies in car bomb attack

Daphne Caruana Galizia
A prominent blogger in Malta, who had accused the island's government of corruption, has died in a car bomb attack, according to police.
Daphne Caruana Galizia, 53, was reportedly killed when the car she was driving exploded shortly after she left her home in Bidnija, near Mosta.
Local media say one of her sons heard the blast and rushed outside.
PM Joseph Muscat, whom Caruana Galizia accused of wrongdoing earlier this year, denounced the killing.
"I condemn without reservations this barbaric attack on a person and on the freedom of expression in our country," he said in a televised statement.
"Everyone knows Ms Caruana Galizia was a harsh critic of mine, both politically and personally, as she was for others too."
But he stressed there could be "no justification... in any way" for such action.

Florida Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency on Monday ahead of a speech by a white nationalist leader later this week at the University of Florida, in order to free up resources to prepare for possible violence.

Rallies by neo-Nazis and white nationalists in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August led to violent street clashes with counter-protesters. After the melee, as counter-protesters were dispersing, a 20-year-old man who is said by law enforcement to have harbored Nazi sympathies smashed his car into the crowd, killing a 32-year-old woman.

6 ways to overcome lack of connection in your marriage

You’d have thought that living with a person, day in and day out, would bring you closer to each other, but sometimes that is not the case.

It’s actually not at all unusual for people in long term relationships to experience periods when they feel disconnected from their partner and, sometimes, even begin to feel lonely.

If that sounds something like what you are going through right now, listed below are six ways to overcome lack of connection in your marriage.

1. Take a look at yourself first: It’s oh so easy for both parties in a marriage to blame each other for a lack of connection and do nothing at all about it themselves. The first step to rebuilding the bonds that you used to have is to look at what you might be doing wrong that has made you grow apart.

Dubai Police test its latest gadget -- a flying motorbike

Dubai Police are not alone in utilizing innovative flying vehicles. Companies around the world are coming up with new designs for vertical take-off and landing (VTOLs) aircraft.<br /><strong><br />Hoversurf</strong> -- This Russian-designed hoverbike is the newest addition to Dubai Police's tech squad.
Dubai Police, already home to Lamborghini patrol cars, self-driving robots and android officers, has decided to take to the skies in what can only be described as a flying motorbike.

The vehicle, called the Scorpion and designed by Russian tech company Hoversurf, relies on four propellers to stay airborne, with the rider crouched precariously close to the exposed blades. Capable of 40 mph and a travel time of 25 minutes, the single-seat craft, which can carry 600 lbs, can also operate autonomously.
After appearing at tech shows earlier this year, Dubai Police has decided to add one to its list of cutting-edge gadgets, all part of the force's "smart city" plans.

California Fires Leave 32 Dead, a Vast Landscape Charred, and a Sky Full of Soot

Some of the worst wildfires ever to tear through California have killed 32 people and torched a vast area of the state’s north this week, but the reach of the blazes is spreading dramatically further by the day, as thick plumes of smoke blow through population centers across the Bay Area.

Everything now smells burnt. Hills and buildings are covered in a haze. Residents nowhere near the front lines of the fires now venture out wearing air masks. On a hillside above the Russian River, a broad and menacing band of fire is turning a blue sky into a gray miasma of soot.

Air-quality, based on levels of tiny particles that can flow deep into the lungs, is rated “unhealthy” across much of Northern California, and smoke has traveled as far as Fresno, more than 200 miles to the south. The effects are many: schoolchildren are being kept inside during recess, the Oakland Raiders canceled their outdoor practice on Thursday to prevent players from breathing in the bad air, and doctors are reporting an increase in visits and calls from people with lung and heart trouble.

All the women who have accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment or assault

null
Over the past week, a wave of sexual harassment and assault allegations against movie producer Harvey Weinstein have emerged through a series of investigations published by The New York Times and The New Yorker.
Following the reports, more and more women have spoken publicly about their experiences with Weinstein.
Most of these alleged encounters follow a similar pattern, of "business meetings" turning into a proposed massage and hotel room sexual harassment or assault. These accusations start as early as the 1980s and include actresses, assistants, and other employees of Weinstein's companies.
With the catalog of alleged abuse growing, women like Gwyneth Paltrow, who accused Weinstein of touching her inappropriately in 1995, want to support women in similar situations by coming forward.
“We’re at a point in time when women need to send a clear message that this is over,” Paltrow told The New York Times. “This way of treating women ends now.”

Trump is considering overhauling a key part of his tax plan after Republican blowback

donald trump
President Donald Trump is considering reversing course on one of the biggest planks of his tax reform plan, according to a new report.

Bloomberg's Kevin Cirilli and Sahil Kapur reported Thursday that Trump may keep the state and local tax (SALT) deduction in place after calling for its elimination in the most recent framework released on September 27.

The SALT deduction allows people to slice off what they pay in state and local taxes from their federal tax bills. The benefit for the tax primarily goes to states with high-income taxes. Notably, people in New York, New Jersey, and California receive about one-third of the total benefits from the deduction.

Send Your Name to Mars Aboard NASA's InSight Lander!

Want to send your name to Mars? NASA is offering another chance to do so.

When the InSight lander launches to the Red Planet next year, it will contain the names of members of the public, and you can submit your name for it to be included.

In 2015, the space agency invited people from around the world to add their names to a silicon chip that will be affixed to the InSight Mars lander. With nearly 827,000 individuals already signed up, NASA is now adding a second microchip, giving members of the public another chance to put their names on Mars.

"Mars continues to excite space enthusiasts of all ages," Bruce Banerdt, the InSight mission's principal investigator, of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, said in a statement. "This opportunity lets them become a part of the spacecraft that will study the inside of the Red Planet." [NASA Mars InSight Lander Mission Gallery (Images)]

Celebrities Respond to Eminem's Anti-Trump Freestyle Rap

Eminem breaks the calm in Donald Trump's storm in vicious freestyle rap that has plenty of big time stars talking up a Twitter storm.

Eminem decimated Donald Trump during a freestyle rap that was shown at the BET Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday evening and it has gained some praise from the entertainment industry and scorn from Trump supporters. It's safe to say that the Detroit rapper does not have any Trump supporters in his corner after the passionate and frustrated anti-Trump freestyle rap went viral. As it turns out, that was exactly Eminem's intent, he made it abundantly clear that if his fans support Donald Trump, that he doesn't want them to be his fans any longer.

The anti-Trump freestyle is entitled "The Storm," which is a reference to Donald Trump's vague comments about the "calm before the storm" that he made late last week. Many believe that Trump is inching us closer to World War III every day and view his comments about the "calm" to be in direct reference to conflict with North Korea. Eminem spit out verse after fiery verse with venom and contempt for Trump, calling out his reactions to the Las Vegas massacre, Puerto Rico, the NFL, Charlottesville, Racism, and more as he goes through his freestyle rap.

Tyrese Calls The Rock Selfish as Fast & Furious Feud Intensifies

Tyrese Gibson revealed that he doesn't hate The Rock because of his Fast & Furious spin-off, but thinks he's being selfish by pushing the Fast 9 date.

More proverbial shots were fired in the Fast and Furious Spin-Off feud between Tyrese Gibson and Dwayne Johnson today, with Tyrese Gibson revealing that he thinks The Rock is being "selfish," because this spin-off was moved forward while Universal pushed the Fast & Furious 9 release date by a full year to 2020, to make room for the spin-off. Here's what Tyrese Gibson had to say, clarifying that he's not mad The Rock actually got a spin-off, but because it caused the Fast & Furious 9 release date to be pushed.

"I don't know what they're doing. Everybody's coming at me, like I'm hating on Dwayne for his spin-off. I'm not. I just wish he was releasing it at a different time. It's not a conflict, but Fast & Furious is like a holiday. Fast & Furious family, the fans, the tribe, the people who have been rocking with us for 16 years... you know, pushing our release date back, it's only happened one time in the history of Fast & Furious, when we lost our brother Paul Walker. So, what's the reason we're pushing the release date back now? I've just got a problem with Dwayne... it appears that he's being selfish. It appears that he's so focused on furthering his own self interests that he's making decisions from the seat that he's sitting in. Fast & the Furious 9 isn't coming out until 2020. It's f---d up."
The currently untitled Fast & Furious Spin-Off was announced in April, not long after the eighth franchise installment, The Fate of the Furious hit theaters, which will bring together Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, played by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. This feud turned public last month, when Tyrese posting a public message on one of Dwayne Johnson's Instagram posts, where it was speculated that he was signing his contract for this spin-off. Tyrese said that he only went public because The Rock apparently wasn't responding to Tyrese's text messages.
