Talking about Ebola control and prevention within the cities in Africa

Talking about Ebola control and prevention within the cities in Africa, I get worried and thought about it and I asked myself is this possible? And I answered myself back that it’s impossible due to rate of poverty after reading from www.ebolafacts.com this is my worries.
How and why? I write as below.
1.     Over Population
I remembered how I grew up the urban communities, where a house build on a plot or half plot of land rather carries numbers of rooms from ten to twenty rooms plus, different families with at least two bachelors in the house and the rest families with three kids minimum and six in some cases in a room plus the father and mother, on a street this type of houses are mostly 97% built, tell me if a person contact a Ebola in such Building, what is the chances of it not spreading round that community within one week?
No matter how worst one’s family member gets sick and down, the loved ones will still get close to them, if Ebola can be contracted by hand shake and staying under the same roof with such patient as the news in spreading round town, then before the patient is reported to the hospital the family members and neighbors will be infected.

Our General Hospitals: When last did you visit one? The population on a morning queue only is not funny, if an Ebola patient who doesn’t know the nature of his/her illness is on that queue and sharing taught and words with someone next to him/her on that queue which commonly happen when you are in such public queue after hand shake and close sitting next to people on those long chairs and you didn’t think of washing your hands, what’s the chances of not getting infected? Or in a case whereby an unknown Ebola patient fell down on that queue or in a public place and you rushed to pick or check on him/her well being, because there are still good Samaritans in Nigeria and that person sweat robbed your palm or part of your body, what’s the chances of that Good Samaritan not getting infected?
2.     SHARING
I also remembered very well in the urban communities when our fathers in the compound sit together in the compound to do a brief tenant and landlord meeting and if they have good friendship relationship in such compound there’s always a green bottle with gin or some kind of herbal drink whereby those who drink alcohols will share shots with one small cup all in the name of there is love in sharing, what if an Ebola patient is amongst them and he was the first to use that cup and the funny part is you don’t drink and rinse such cup, immediately Papa Nonso turn his, Baba Biliki will turn his own too and it goes round, so it goes amongst the you in the neighborhood you will see a gathering where boys sit and gisting and there are sharing from one bottle of drink be it herbal or whiskey no one is waiting for a cup and young boys are found of hand shaking no matter the condition the next brother is if they see you before talking at all a hand shake has gone round and some time the hand shake are clockwise.

3.     POVERTY
Talking about poverty is also related to sharing under some condition, I remembered when going to the public school and you have lavish your small token your parents gave to you to school and it’s break time you are so tasty and don’t have a dime on you to buy a sachet of pure water the next option is (GUY ABEG DRINK REMAIN FOR ME) I have been through that before because it’s a turn by turn thing, today you’ll be buoyant in school the next day you’ll go broke and your group of friend won’t want to let you down because we watch each other back and cater of each other back in my high school days, and three of us are sharing a sachet of water, which I know it’s still happening in the public primary and secondary school and this is not only water I also remember some student will even eat and remain for their friends and that same food bought in a canteen or brought from their home will be eaten with one plate and spoon that’s the same plate and spoon the next person eating the leftover will use, worst scenario I also then is we share sachet yoghurt, and I believe it’s still happening because urban kids will always be urban kids.
And these things happened because of poverty, tell me what are the chances of these kids from these poor homes not contracting the virus from the public school?

My personal advice to the general public is be prayerful and not panic and ponder over it else you will be afraid to even step out of your house with your kids to school and your business/work places brethren that's the beginning of causing yourself more arms.

SCARY: 7-Foot ‘Ghost’ Attacks Journalist During Interview With Woman Who Caims Her Home Is Haunted (VIDEO)

SCARY: 7-Foot ‘Ghost’ Attacks Journalist During Interview With Woman Who Caims Her Home Is Haunted (VIDEO)Two skeptical journalists were just minutes into an interview with a Pennsylvania homeowner who claims her house is infested with ghostly and demonic forces when they found themselves so scared they almost abandoned the investigative report altogether.
WPMT-TV’s Katie Kyros was recently accompanied by photojournalist Nick Petrillo on a visit to DeAnna Simpson’s home in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Considering that the woman claims she’s seen a seven-foot “shadow man,” heard mysterious voices and experienced rogue scratches, they decided to explore.
But it’s what they say happened just five minutes into the interview that had the two so scared they almost left.

(Follow TheBlaze Faith on Facebook and Twitter for daily news and updates on religion and culture)
“Basically, when we walked in the home, I didn’t feel anything at first,” Petrillo said during an on-air report explaining the experience. “I felt — it was something like a piece of hot metal almost … I looked down on my wrist and I noticed there was a scratch there.”

The photojournalist said he’s “never felt anything like that” in his life. In fact, Petrillo was a skeptic before entering Simpson’s home, but now says the experience has made him a believer.
“I actually didn’t really believe in it until this actually happened,” he said. “I was very skeptical of it until this.”
The burning sensation and scratch Petrillo felt didn’t surprise Simpson, who told the two that she believes the mere fact that they were covering the story was enough to anger the supposedly evil entities inside the home.
“You know why? Because you’re telling the story,” she said of the purported injury. “Because you’re putting it out there … I’m telling you right now, that is their way of a warning.”
Watch the WPMT-TV report, showing footage of a door shutting, an image of the so-called “shadow man” and the journalists’ claims below:
Kyros, who reported that she was also touched and pinched inexplicably while at the home, claimed that she and Petrillo saw “strange lights on the walls and heard noises.”
Simpson and her husband, who have lived in the home seven years, want to leave, but she said that they would need to recoup the money they invested into the house in order to do so.
Kyros and Petrillo purportedly brought a Ouija Board with them, but Simpson was so terrified she asked them not to bring it inside.

8 Natural Remedies to Help You Quit Smoking

Oats

Oats are high in fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, potassium, and folate. Eating oats can help lower levels of bad cholesterol and keep arteries clear, which helps to lower risk of heart disease. Also, an extract derived from green oats can ease withdrawal symptoms and help decrease cigarette cravings in chain-smokers.

Cayenne Pepper

Among many other things, cayenne pepper is an excellent remedy to help quell the cravings for a cigarette. It desensitizes the respiratory system to tobacco and chemical irritants, thereby thwarting the cravings for cigarettes. Ensure to take the spice daily; add a couple of pinches to your glass of water to really benefit from its effects.

Ginseng

It has been shown to prevent the nicotine-induced release of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Of course, dopamine is what makes people feel better after smoking which is part of the nicotine-addiction process. A teaspoon of ginseng powder added to your breakfast cereal or morning health shake should help alleviate the number of cravings.

St. John’s Wort

Primarily used to treat depression, there is some research that this medicinal herb helps people quit smoking. In one pilot study, 24 people who smoked 1 or more cigarettes a day received St. John’s wort (450 mg capsule 2 times a day) plus smoking cessation counseling. After 12 weeks, 37.5% or 9 out of 24 people had quit.

Herbal Cigarettes

Herbal cigarettes can replace regular cigarettes and help break the addiction. People can substitute herbal cigarettes to meet their psychological need for a smoke without compromising their health. These are made of herbs like mint, cinnamon, clover, cornsilk, licorice or lemongrass. They also have some carcinogens so they should only be used as a short-term aide!

Lobelia

This herb has been promoted to help people fight the effects of nicotine withdrawal and is found in many anti-smoking products. The active ingredient in lobelia, lobeline, is thought to have similar actions on the body as nicotine. Further research has shown that lobeline may increase levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain similar to cigarettes.

Hyssop

It has the ability to help with clearing mucus congestion in the lungs associated with COPD. It has also been known to alleviate the anxiety and even hysteria that is sometimes associated with smoking withdrawal.

Valerian

It is one of the premier sedative herbs used to aid people with anxiety, stress, and insomnia. Valerian also acts as a muscle relaxant. It is clearly one of the herbs of choice in smoking cessation to deal with the issues of insomnia, restlessness, and anxiety.

Repairing the Damage

Once you have successfully broken free of the addiction, it is essential to repair the damage that has been caused by smoking. Regardless of what you may hear, the damage is reversible through proper diet, exercise, meditation, and adequate sleep. Never let this leave your mind, as we all have the power to overcome. Consult your physician for diet and other ways to repair the damage.

Woman's face gets 26 stitches after husband batters her over piece of fish

For taking a piece of fish from the cooking pot, 34 year old Fatima Bankole (pictured above) said she got the beating of her life from her husband, Alhaji Kamoru Bankole, on Wednesday July 16th and now has 26 stitches on her face as a result of the brutal assault.

Narrating what led to the attack, Fatima, who is one of three wives, said as wives of the Alhaji, they had a roaster for cooking. She said on the day any of them cooked, they would first dish for their husband, then the children before serving themselves.

She said on the day of the attack, the last wife had finished her cooking and served their husband and the children. She, Fatima, then went for her own meal but as soon as the third wife saw her food, she immediately went to report to their husband that Fatimah had taken the largest chunk of fish in the pot. Continue...

Not listening to her explanation that she only took pieces of fish scattered in the pot, their husband descended on her with punches to her face. She said she bled for hours and was thereafter locked up in a room for three days before she found a way of escape.

She said her husband had physically assaulted her several times in the past and even gave an account of a previous attack where her husband pulled her hair until it hurt so bad it gave her head injuries.
After her escape, Fatimah was assisted to the hospital by her neighbors. Her husband has since been arrested after a petition by a Women Arise civil group in Lagos. He is expected to be in court next week.

Indian rape suspects beaten by angry mob after 7yr old girl is found hanging from a tree

One man was killed and two others were badly hurt today by villagers in India who accused them of raping and hanging a seven-year-old girl. The girl was discovered hanging from a tree near the village of Kaliabazar, West Bengal, this morning and angry villagers quickly rounded up a local 'Tantrik' holy man and his two friends.

The trio were mercilessly beaten. One later died in hospital and the two others are still being treated. Continue...

It was a grim reminder of the recent gang-rape case in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, where two sisters were raped and then hanged from a tree outside their village.

After a string of high-profile cases, India has become notorious for savage sexual attacks on often young women and girls.

However, the number of rapes recorded in the country is still far lower than countries such as the U.S. and UK, according to figures from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

The victim in the most-recent case had gone missing last night, after apparently going out to the neighbourhood shop.

The Hindustan Times reports that people went around the village to gather a search party, which found her body handing from a tree.
Word spread and rumours began circulating that she had been gang-raped, spurring villagers to round up Ratan Das, a local Tantrik, or Hindu witchdoctor, and two of his associates.

The mob beat up the men and also set fire to a house belonging to Das, who had been seen with the victim yesterday morning. Then they went to police.

Sukesh Kumar Jain, East Midnapore Superintendent of Police, told the Hindustan Times: 'The father of the girl lodged a complaint at the local police station against three persons.
'One of the three accused has already died.'

There is as yet no evidence that the girl was raped before she was killed. Police said they are not ruling out a family feud as the motive behind the killing.
'We are awaiting the autopsy report to confirm rape,' said a police officer. 'There was also some enmity between the families of the girl and the prime accused, Ratan Das.'

Man spends 23years in prison for allegedly failing to bribe policeman

Found this heartbreaking story and decided to share. Find below... (above is Calistus Ike)
A shaft of pain knifed through his facial contours as he recounted the grisly experiences he had in prison for more than 23 years.
Prior to 1989, Calistus Ike had dreamt of becoming a very successful business man.
Little did he know that he was going to spend seven years as an awaiting trial inmate and another 16 years on the death row.
As the first son and bread winner of his family at that time, Ike, had all his dreams quashed after he was sentenced to death following his refusal to pay N200 bribe to the policeman that investigated an allegation against him.
Luck however shone on him when through the intervention of a France- based human right group, Avocats Sans Frontieres, ASFF, also known as ‘Lawyers Without Borders France’, the Edo state government, pardoned him and approved his release from prison in 2012.

Reliving the harrowing times he had in jail and circumstances that led to his conviction with SaturdayVanguard, this disconsolate erstwhile death row inmate, insisted that he was innocent of the allegation that left him at the mercy of the hang-man, even as he called for a total overhaul of the criminal justice system in Nigeria.

Describing himself as a “lucky-survivor”, Ike, who is now in his early fifties, stressed that so many innocent Nigerians are currently languishing in various prison facilities across the federation.
“The unfortunate thing is that some of the people I left in prison did not even have a case-file. Some of them had stayed as ‘awaiting-trial’ inmates for more than 10 years”, he lamented.

Narrating the story of his life, Ike said: “It happened to me in the year 1989. I was resident in Benin, the Edo state capital. There was a man that lived in the same compound with me. His wife had stomach problem and he asked me to lead him to somewhere to collect a root (herbal medicine) for his wife.

We went there about 5pm. After escorting him to the place where he collected the medicine, I returned to my house.

The next day, I went to do my business. I did not know that the same man had engaged police to look for me and the other man that gave him the root, a man I didn’t even know. When I heard that police came to look for me, I inquired about the station they came from and went there myself. ”I reported myself and asked why they came to look for me.

They told me that there was an allegation that I conspired with the man we collected medicine from his house and broke into my neighbour’s house- who was the same man I accompanied to get the roots for his wife- and stole his properties.

I never knew that they had equally arrested the man that gave us the root.
Thereafter, the policeman handling the case insisted that I must write a confessional statement otherwise he would deal with me. I refused to write anything. I told him that I would only narrate the exact thing that happened''.

”It was at that juncture that he started beating me with ‘Koboko’. He flogged me mercilessly that day. I was tortured until the D.P.O in charge of the station asked him to stop and just take my statement.

After I gave them my statement, the same policeman that flogged me, came back and said that he could not find any evidence to pin the alleged crime on me. He said that he had concluded all the investigations and found nothing against me.
”However, he said I should give him N200 so that he would drop the case and allow me to go home. Remember, we are talking about 1989. As at that time, that amount was big money to me.

So, I told him I had no such money to give out. I stood my ground that I was innocent of the charge and even asked them to take me to court if indeed they thought that I had a case to answer.
Within two days, the policeman took the matter to court. We went to court, at the Magistrate court, the policeman freed the other man I was accused with and pinned the whole charge on me.

”From the Magistrate court, he took me to the Military Tribunal where the case changed overnight.
From the original allegation of ‘burglary and theft’, I was charged with armed robbery.Whereas the Policeman and that my compound man whose properties were allegedly stolen, as well as his wife, testified before Tribunal, I had no one to testify for me. I was left with only God and no one else.

”After a long run of the trial, I was convicted and sentenced to death for a crime I never committed or even imagined. I never for once had such dream for my life, but I was condemned to death.Nonetheless, my faith in God never wavered, I kept asking him to vindicate me. I was in death sentence cell in Edo state for over 14 years. After then, I was transferred to Enugu prison.

”One day, I was there, inside the prison with other inmates when information got to me that there were some people from France that were helping inmates in Benin prison. I quickly called my brother and asked him to take my plight to those people, maybe they could help me to regain my freedom.
”By the special grace of God, within three months, I was let loose from the grip of the wicked of this world and I thank God for it. What I however want Nigerians to know is that there is great level of injustice in our judiciary and because of that, many innocent people have died for crimes they never committed.''

”Some of our lawyers are not helping matters. All they are interested in is money. Some cases they know they don’t have the capacity to handle they will just force themselves into them and their clients will be condemned and killed.
Before my very eyes, I witnessed executions that took the lives of over 48 young and energetic men and women . It is a painful thing to experience.
I was released in 2012. After I was arrested in 1989, I stayed as awaiting trial inmate for seven years, and stayed on death row for 16 years.
My case did not go up to the Supreme Court. It was tried by the military tribunal so I didn’t even have the opportunity to go on appeal.

”My experience in the prison was very traumatic. That place is hell on earth! Some of the prison warders are very wicked- even though there are some good ones too. The bad ones are tormentors. They torment inmates at will.
The food inside there is nothing to write home about. Roofs of some of the cells leak badly when it rains.

Getting good medication is rather a luxury too big to imagine, except in critical cases or upon an order of the court.
In the prison, every inmate is left to his own fate. Inmates are suffering badly even the awaiting trial inmates too.

”It hurts me when I see them on TV claiming that they are reforming the prisons. I am telling you today that they are doing nothing. Anyone that is so convinced that our prisons are better now should volunteer and spend a weekend inside any of our prisons. The hardship inside there is better imagined than experienced.I saw hell!

If the government gets up now and say they are reforming prisons, they are doing nothing! I am saying this because I experienced it for 16 years on the death row”.
