The first full week of April just happened, and with it came tons of new music. Rappers must have Spring Fever or something because after a period of radio silence, we're now dealing with an outpouring of sounds from some of Hip Hop's favorites. It's a welcome addition to our iPods, but we can't help but wonder what makes an artist extra eager to drop music once the 1st Quarter fades out. Either way, there was a lot on this list from fan favorites. This week proved that musically, March droughts bring April showers.
Eminem and Paris Hilton Helped Out On April Fool's Day
Every year, we at DX enjoy making up a track title on April Fool's Day to a song that probably will never happen. Past hits include "Re-Tox," a made up Detox leak, along with some Lil Wayne and Eminem cameos for good measure. This year we opted for the oh so creative "Shady In Paris," a spin on Jay-Z and Kanye West's "N**gas In Paris," only featuring Eminem and Paris Hilton. That will probably never happen - we know this - but that didn't stop you, the audience from checking it out. We stumped you again, and that little prank made its way to #3. Above that one at #2 was the instantly successful "Theraflu" from Kanye West with DJ Khaled and DJ Pharris. Just in time for Good Friday, it seems like Ye is back with G.O.O.D. Fridays (check out "Mercy" when you can). While a prank and some "Theraflu" made it to the Top 3, the Number One stunna was Kendrick Lamar, as he and Dr. Dre delivered "The Recipe." That made it to #1; maybe KDot can share the recipe for releasing a new album to Dre. Hint Hint.
California Republic Proves That It's All Game Everything
The wait is finally over and Game delivered his latest mixtape, California Republic. Game is never one to shy away from song leaks, and two days prior to the mixtape's release, he began dropping tracks left and right. The first was a DX exclusive (thanks, Game!), "Bills Is Paid" with Nipsey Hu$$le. That landed at #4. At #5? "Skate On" with Lupe Fiasco. At #6? "It Must Be Tough" with Pharrell. Then Game showed up again at #9 with the Fat Joe and Young Chris assisted "Grey Stone." That's four Game tracks on one singles list. Talk about a record! Let's not forget though that T.I. also climbed on board the list this week with his track "Love This Life" in at #7. Depending upon when Trouble Man actually hits, it might be a good idea for Tip to drop a mixtape of his own soon, no? Closing out the list at #10 was Curren$y's joint with Wale, "What It Look Like," and somewhere in between was Childish Gambino's "Eat Your Vegetables" at #8. That's sound advice, Mr. Glover.

Inquest into youth killed by police DPO at anti-subsidy removal protest begins

After two adjournments, the judicial inquiry to determine the cause of death of Ademola Aderinto, who was allegedly shot by a police officer during the anti-fuel subsidy protests, began at the Ikeja Magistrate Court on Wednesday with the police calling their first witness.
The inquest was initiated by the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and Access to Justice, a human rights group, following the death of Mr. Aderinto, 27.
After Olumide Alagbe, a police inspector, entered the witness box to narrate the January 9th incident at Ogba, Lagos, which also led to four others sustaining gunshot wounds; the inquest was adjourned to April 11th.
'Accidental discharge'
Testifying from the written statement of Segun Fabunmi, the Divisional Police Officer who allegedly shot the deceased and who is still in police custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti; Mr. Alagbe said that the deceased was "struggling arms with the police."
"In the statement, he (Mr. Fabunmi) said that he received a distress call from the control room that some hoodlums were attacking and dispossessing innocent citizens of the country.
"That when he got there, the hoodlums numbering 200 attacked them, throwing bottles, stones.
"In the struggling, the trigger went off," said Mr. Alagbe.
Mr. Alagbe maintained that the bullet which killed Mr. Aderinto penetrated his right thigh during the struggle; contrary to the postmortem report from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital which stated that the bullet penetrated through the deceased's back.
'A good start'
While addressing journalists after the sitting, Yinka Farounbi, counsel to the NBA, described the commencement of the case "as a very good start."
"We are happy that the police has revealed their witness," said Mr. Farounbi, Ikeja NBA's first vice chairman.
"They have taken the evidence from the police officer from Panti and by the next adjourned date, there will be cross examination of the witness," he added.
Speaking in the same vein, Leonard Dibia, of Access to Justice, noted that the documents tendered by the police would be examined at the next sitting, adding that the inquest would be concluded early.
"There is just one life that was lost and so the physical evidence is really narrowed down to about two or three persons, most importantly, eye witness accounts," said Mr. Dibia.
Cyril Ejiofor, the counsel representing the Commissioner of Police, said that the police have their witnesses and would call them as the case progresses.
"All I can tell you now is that the coroner for that matter has opened," said Mr. Ejiofor.

Rihanna on Chris Brown Reunion: 'I Don't Have Anything to Hide'

Rihanna** doesn't "hate" anyone for having an opinion on her reunion with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown**, but the singer is still going to do what she wants to do.
"I'm still going to do what I want to do," Rihanna told Elle Magazine (via AOL's The Boombox). "It's like, one less skeleton in the closet, one less burden, one less secret; now you know that, so you can say what you want about it. I don't have anything to hide."
"I respect what other people have to say. The bottom line is that everyone thinks differently," she continued in Elle's May Issue, on newsstands April 17. "It's very hard for me to accept, but I get it. People end up wasting their time on the blogs or whatever, ranting away, and that's all right. I don't hate them for it."
Love it or hate it, Rih RIh's "Birthday Cake" remix, featuring Breezy, continues to climb the charts. On March 3, the track debuted at No. 73 on Hot 100 Airplay with 16 million audience impressions and a 372% increase in spins, according to Nielsen BDS. The title also debuted on Hot Digital Songs at No. 62 and No. 71 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The quick start led to a No. 63 debut for "Cake" on the Billboard Hot 100. In its fourth week, "Birthday Cake" moved to top ten of R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and ranks at No. 4, today (April 4).
Rihanna continued to share on how she dealt with the aftermath of her volatile relationship with Brown. "I was going through the hardest time of my life. I was angry, sad, confused, torn. I was still in love. And I needed to talk about it," she said.
She channeled her pain into her music, specifically her fourth studio album, "Rated R" (2009). "That was the only way I could get peace, because it was in my head, and I couldn't leave it there."
"It gave me guns. I was like, 'Well, f*ck.' They know more about me than I want them to know. It's embarrassing. But that was my opening," she said. "That was my liberation, my moment of bring it. I wanted people to know who I am. Whatever they take that to be, good or bad, I just want them to know the truth."
Young Jeezy Concert Cancelled After Gunfire Erupts

A man was shot before a Young Jeezy concert at the Sound Academy in Toronto, Canada at around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday morning (April 5).
According to the Toronto Star, the shooting took place in between the opening acts and before Jeezy, the headliner, could take the stage. The 26-year-old male victim was shot three times in the torso and was left in serious, but stable condition, Toronto Police told the Star. Investigators are still looking for suspects.
The estimated 1,800 fans who crammed into the Sound Academy were evacuated and Jeezy had to cancel his performance.
But the Snowman did take to his Twitter account to promise his faithful Canadian fans that he'll be back in T-dot soon.
"Backstage @ Sound Academy in Toronto!" Jeezy tweeted a few hours after the shooting and shutdown of the venue. "Police closed venue and cancelled the greatest show!!! I will be back! Next stop London, Ontario!"
This marks Jeezy's first full cross Canada tour.
"I played Canada a few times when Lil Wayne and I were on tour and I came out with Drake in Toronto at his festival, but I've never done this many dates," the Snowman recently told the country's National Post newspaper. "I'm excited to bring my energy to the stage.
"Every time I step on the stage, you can't really tell where you are," he added. "Love is love, and by the crowd's reaction I don't know if I'm in Canada, Atlanta or Norway. It all just depends on the night."
Kanye West Confesses Love For Kim Kardashian on "Theraflu"

Kanye West surprised fans Wednesday night (April 4) by releasing a brand new record, "Theraflu."
On the track, which features DJ Khaled and DJ Pharris and was produced by Hit-Boy, 'Ye dedicates a few bars toward his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose and salutes her current partner Wiz Khalifa. In back to back lines, West confesses about falling in love with Kim Kardashian and even takes shots at New Jersey Nets pro basketball player Kris Humphries, whom Kardashian infamously filed for divorce with in October of last year after only 72 days of marriage.
"And the whole industry wanna **** your old chick/Only ***** I got respect for is Wiz/And I'll admit, I fell in love with Kim/Around the same time, she fell in love with him/Well, that's cool, baby girl do your thing/Lucky I didn't have Jay drop him from the team."
The last line refers to Humphries playing for the New Jersey Nets--a team Kanye's big brother, Jay-Z is a minority owner of and is partially responsible for helping to move the franchise to Brooklyn soon.
Late last year, Amber Rose painted Kardashian as a homewrecker, who got between her and Kanye's relationship by sending numerous sexy pictures of herself to West. In turn, Kanye stayed relatively mum about the subject till dropping "Theraflu."
The record isn't the only noise that the Louis Vuitton Don plans on making this week. That's because, 'Ye and his G.O.O.D. Music family plan on dropping "Mercy," the first single off their impending compilation on Good Friday (April 6).

Prophet Caught Sleeping With 5-Months Pregnant Married Woman In A Parked Car

A man got the shock of his life when he caught his PREGNANT wife being intimate with a self-styled prophet in a parked car.
Patrick (31) could not believe his eyes after his wife Lydia Makoni's illicit sexual exploits with Njari (40) came to light barely a week after they had consulted him for his services.
Lydia is said to have lied to Patrick that she intended to visit her mother who resides in the same neighborhood, only to discover that she had gone to the prophet [ Njari's] house for her sex-sermons.
Patrick told us our report that he was really shocked after catching his pregnant wife having quality time in the parked car at House No. 12 Nzere Street where the prophet resides.
"I suspect that this illicit affair might have started on the first day we consulted him as he asked my wife to visit him alone the following day for more prayers. My wife is five months pregnant now and I wonder why she was cheating on me to that extend."
"As we speak she is at her mother's house after that incident and I can swear that Njari will never conduct his prayers again at his shrine," fumed Patrick.
In another interview, Lydia also CONFIRMED that she was caught red-handed being swayed by Njari's prophecies.
"It is true that this prophet asked me to come for prayers alone after we visited him along with my husband. He told me that I had no bright future with my husband saying he was planning to marry another girl.
"On the second visit, Njari gave me US$5 that I used to buy bread and he then seduced me and we ended up having s*x in the parked car," she said. She said she had lied to her husband that she had gone to her mother's place while in actual fact she was seeing the prophet.
"I was convinced by this prophet and I believed him as we were having problems at home with my husband that led us to consult him. He told me that he had fallen for me and that he would look for alternative accommodation in High-field for me although he knew that I was pregnant."
"On the day in question, he gave me a laptop which he said was a token of love and showed me a book which he said was a proof that the car was his and I agreed to his demands before we were caught by Patrick. At home, I had given instructions for Patrick to be told that I was to come back soon," said Lydia.
When we visited Njari at his shrine, he was not around as he is now playing cat and mouse with Patrick, who allegedly threatened him with death. Neighbors said Njari had sought refuge at his neighbors place where we finally hooked up with him and he confirmed the story.
He, however, blamed it on Lydia for visiting him at his house before begging us not to publish the story. After all she is the one who came to my house," he said .
"I am here because Patrick has threatened to kill me and I know he is violent as people around this neighborhood call him Masendeke. I could have died and I was not familiar with him because he is extremely dangerous.
"I know that you reporters would take it wrongly and denounce prophets but to be honest I was not putting on my garments and this was a sin of the flesh. There was nothing I could do to resist that and I am prepared to marry her if Patrick is no longer interested in her."
"I am a divorcee with four children the first one is 22 years old in the village in Dande under chief Matsiwo. Please do not publish this story. I am prepared to give you a heifer plus US$200 for your lunch and the driver who is with you.
"I am a dealer who buys gold and I have many beasts at my village so do not publish this story, I beg you," said Njari as he pleaded with H-Metro to kill the story.
Njari was also attending to a lady identified as Priscilla in the presence of her friends. She told H-Metro she had been advised to leave her mobile phone after failing to give him US$30 that he charged for the services.
"I thank my God because this man wanted my cellphone after I failed to raise US$30 for the services he offered me. He asked me to remove my blouse before he took long to attend to me to cure my stomach pains. He is a false prophet. I could have lost my Samsung mobile phone," said Priscilla.
Kim Kardashian's Caught Sneaking Out Of Kanye West's Apartment After Spending The Night With Him

Things have apparently taken a romantic turn between Kim Kardashian and long-time friend Kanye West and obviously they are dating.
The pair were pictured leaving a movie theatre in New York last night and Kim was seen exiting the rapper's apartment in the same clothes this morning.
Kim was seen sneaking out of West's apartment following a sleepover, before getting in a car and heading back to her hotel with a bodyguard in tow.
Dressed in a pair of leather trousers and a white vest Kim clearly hadn't got changed after and was dressed in the same ensemble she wore to their cinema date on Wednesday night.
The couple also met up for lunch in Thursday just a few hours after Kim had left Kanye's apartment.
The pair enjoyed food together at Serafina in the city but arrived and left separately.
Kim still had the same leather trousers she had been sporting this morning and the night before but had changed her top and a new jacket.
In another sign things are less than platonic, West has released a new song declaring his love for the 31-year-old reality star.
The singer and rapper also refers to his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose in the song, called Theraflu, following her claims he and Kim had a fling while they were together.

NSCDC Arrests Man With Human Parts

Men and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara state command have arrested a man with human parts in Omu Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
Parading the suspect in Ilorin , the state commandant NSCDC, Al-Hassan Audu Akor, said the suspect, Ibrahim Abubakar, was arrested with some human parts, part of which was that of a kidnapped okada rider, John Olalekan.
The civil defence boss, who said the corps acted on the report of the missing okada rider in Omu Aran, added that intelligence and surveillance work led to the arrest of Abubakar.
He said Abubakar, who claimed to be a herbalist and cattle rearer, is a Fulani of Yoruba stock from Ilorin, but lived in Omu Aran, adding that the victim hailed from Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State, not far from Omu Aran.
The NSCDC commandant said that a search party was constituted after the report of the missing okada man on 26 March 26, adding that the corpse of the okada man was found in a bush behind Government College, Omu Aran on 28 March, with head, hand and private parts already dismembered from the body.
He said further investigation led to the arrest of the herbalist in his house around 8.00 am on Monday, 2 April where human parts already cut into pieces and roasted were found in his custody.
He said among the items also recovered in the suspect’s house include two locally made rifles and charms.
The NSCDC boss, who said the suspect initially tried to deny involvement in the crime, added that the suspect told the officers of the corps that the human parts were those of a monkey brought to him by one of his friends.
Akor, however, said that an examination conducted on the items at Omu Aran General Hospital certified that they are human parts.
The NSCDC commandant, who described the case as culpable homicide, added that the suspect had been handed over to police.
He, therefore, enjoined members of the public to always volunteer useful information to security agencies, adding that the security situation in the country is a challenge to every one

Rihanna said:
“I feel like it’s hard for everybody! I don’t think it has anything to do with being famous. There’s just a major drought out there.”
“I guess I’m challenging, because my job seems to affect every relationship I have or try to have. Even with people I think should get it.”
“That seems to be a big factor; it’s always an issue. But I just need to find the person who balances me out, because then things like my schedule won’t matter. I’ve done it before, so I know I can do it again.”
The 24-year-old ‘Battleship’ actress would like to start a family one day, although she has no idea when that will be.
She told Elle magazine:
“It could be tomorrow. It could be 20 years from now. I just feel like when the time is right, God will send me a little angel.”
“But first, of course, I have to find a man. I mean, there’s a very important missing piece to the puzzle here!”
Who in their right mind would marry Rihanna? Hey, how about Jesse James?
Truck runs over cars

Passengers on board four vehicles including drivers of the affected vehicles had to jump from them and race at top speed to save their lives last Thursday at Abrepo Junction in Kumasi.
This was after a Daf articulated truck, with registration number GT 7196-T, fully laden with teak in huge metal containers, which was ascending a hill, developed a fault and started to backtrack.
The affected cars, which were behind the huge truck, were a Toyota Rav4 with registration number GS 5785-10, an Opel Astra with registration number AS 1983-W, a Toyota mini bus with registration number AW 6379-11 and a Mitsubishi Pajero car.
The four vehicles were damaged beyond recognition after the truck, which was moving at top speed, ran over them. The truck later turned upside down, with the driver locked in it.
Richard Karikari, a member of the Ashanti Regional National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), who was at the scene, said they had to use a ladder to climb to the top to save the driver who was locked in the truck.
He said the truck was coming from Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region heading to Tema “but the driver decided to dodge the main route where the Axle Load Weighing Point is located at IPT near Asuoyeboa in Kumasi and used the Abrepo Junction route”.
Mr Karikari said upon reaching the Abrepo Junction traffic light, the truck got stuck in traffic whilst climbing a hill.
When the traffic started to move and the driver tried moving, its long shaft developed a fault so the truck could not move forward but rather started backtracking.
The driver’s mate tried stopping it with a metal object but the truck ran over it and started to move backwards with speed. The driver’s mate, sensing danger, alerted the drivers behind the truck to leave their vehicles and ran.
The drivers and passengers onboard those vehicles heeded the caution by vacating their vehicles and fleeing at top speed to avoid being trapped in their cars by the rampaging truck.
Minutes after those on board the four vehicles had vanished, the heavy truck loaded with teak ran over the cars before turning upside down.
Luckily, no deaths were recorded in the accident but the four cars involved were damaged beyond repairs, Richard Karikari told DAILY GUIDE.
He noted that had driver not tried to dodge the Axle Weighing Point by using the Abrepo Junction road, the unfortunate incident would not have occurred
Justin Bieber Has Bought Himself A Love Nest In California

Justin Bieber has spent a whopping $6 million on the 9,000 square foot property in Calabasas, an affluent area in the San Fernando Valley, 22 miles from Los Angeles. Justin is expected to move in at the end of June and local residents are keen to welcome him to the area. I wonder if Selena will be moving in with him?
Mayor of Calabasas, Mary Sue Maurer, told TMZ: “Justin is welcomed to Calabasas and his privacy will be respected just like everyone else’s.”
One of the reasons Justin – who is regularly mobbed by screaming fans – bought the house is said to be because it has two security gates.
Justin had been interested in another house – a bachelor pad which Ashton Kutcher had been renting after splitting from wife Demi Moore – but the ‘Two and a Half Men’ actor decided to act fast and buy it so he could keep it.
Ashton explained: “All of a sudden my assistant tells me there’s somebody coming to look at the house to maybe buy it. I get a text from this guy [Justin] and he’s in my house, checking it out, trying to buy my house. He’s like ‘Yo, I’m in your house right now. I’m checking it out’. I’m like ‘What? Are you trying to take my house from under me?I was like ‘I don’t want to lose this house’. He forced me to buy a house. He’s trying to steal my swagger.”
Man stabs Girlfriend for cheating

Isaac Kojo Asare, a 27-year-old manager of a Takoradi-based palm kernel export company, is in the grips of the Kwesimintsim Police near Takoradi, for inflicting cutlass wounds on his 22-year-old girlfriend, Ruth Tuffuor, on allegations of infidelity.
The victim, who is a Diploma in Business Studies student of Takoradi Polytechnic (T-Poly), was first rushed to the Kwesimintsim Polyclinic but had to be transferred to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi where she is responding to treatment.
Supt. Akologo Ayamga, Kwesimintsim District Police Commander, who disclosed these to DAILY GUIDE, noted that the suspect and the victim had been dating for about five years.
According to Supt. Ayamga, Kojo Asare claimed his girlfriend, for some time now, had been cheating on him and that he once caught her red-handed having sex with another man.
He indicated that on March 28, 2012, at about 10pm, the suspect laid ambush in his girlfriend’s area at Anaji, also near Takoradi, on suspicion that she was cheating on him.
The suspect later confronted Ruth and allegedly inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on her while the victim struggled to save herself on that fateful Wednesday evening.
Ruth shouted for help and was later saved by some of the inhabitants in the area.
She was sent to the Kwesimintsim Polyclinic and later transferred to the Effia-Nkwanta hospital.
Supt. Ayamga told DAILY GUIDE that the suspect, who reported himself to the police, was in custody.
He mentioned that Asare was being investigated for causing harm with the use of offensive weapon which was a first degree felony, contrary to section 70 of the Criminal Act 1960.

23-Year-Old Millionaire, Arrested For Trading Scheme

In March, 23-year-old UK Foreign Exchange trader Alex Hope made headlines for reportedly spending more than $320,000 on champagne at a Liverpool night club. Exactly one month later, he’s back in the news. But this time, instead of libations, it’s about allegations. Click below to read the rest of the story.
@WiLMajor
Hope was arrested Tuesday by the U.K.’s Financial Services Authority “on suspicion of being involved in an unauthorised foreign exchange trading scheme,” City A.M reported. His publicist, who told City A.M. that Hope denies the allegations, had no further comment when contacted by The Huffington Post.
A little more than a week ago, Hope came to HuffPost’s offices to talk about his passion for foreign exchange trading and the public’s mixed reaction to his nightclub spending spree. Dressed in a sharp navy blue suit and wearing an expensive watch with a pair of white athletic socks, Hope chatted about his meteoric rise to trading stardom, his aversion to the celebrity lifestyle and what it means to “splurge sensibly.”
But given recent events, Hope’s critics might feel justified in condemning his decadent display of wealth amid a struggling global economy. And the fans who congratulated Hope’s success, asking for trading tips via his twitter account, could be having second thoughts
Tyler Perry Accuses Atlanta Police of Racial Profiling, Investigation Underway

An internal investigation has been launched into the filmmaker and TV producer's claim that two officers acted hostilely toward him during a traffic stop because he is black, and only relented when a black officer showed up and apparently recognized Perry, E! News confirmed Wednesday.
So, what does Perry have to say about the incident?

The Good Deeds director described his version of events in detail on his Facebook page on Sunday, writing that he was driving to the airport from his Atlanta-area studio without his usual security detail and was pulled over for making a left turn from a right lane—a maneuver he attempted to ensure he wasn't being followed.
According to Perry, the officer who approached his window asked, "Why do you think someone would be following you?" After which, he wrote, another cop banged on the passenger-side window.
The second officer, Perry wrote, asked, "What's wrong with you?" and when the driver's-side officer explained that Perry thought he might be followed, the officer repeated, "Why do you think someone is following you? What's wrong with you?"
Before he could answer, Perry recounted, the driver's-side officer ordered him to put his foot on the brake, then reached for the car's on/off switch.

"I finally realized that he thought that switch was the key," Perry wrote, "so I told him that it wasn't the key he was grabbing. I reached down into the cup holder to get the key, not realizing that the key had a black leather strap on it. As I grabbed it they both tensed up and I dropped it as I heard my mother's voice from when I was a little boy.
"My mother would always say to me, 'If you get stopped by the police, especially if they are white policemen, you say "yes sir" and "no sir," and if they want to take you in, you go with them. Don't resist, you hear me? Don't make any quick moves, don't run, you just go.'"
Perry claims that the officers continued to badger him about why he might be followed.
"It was so hostile. I was so confused," he wrote. "It was happening so fast that I could easily see how this situation could get out of hand very quickly. I didn't feel safe at all. But one officer stopped his questioning and said, 'We may not let you go. You think you're being followed, what's wrong with you?' At this point, I told him that I wanted to get out of the car. I wanted the passersby to see what was happening."

When he got out, Perry wrote, another cop pulled up—a black cop—and "took one look" at Perry, "an 'oh no' look on his face."
"He immediately took both officers to the back of my car and spoke to them in a hushed tone," he continued. "After that, one of the officers stayed near his car while one came back, very apologetic. I said all of that to say this: do you see how quickly this could have turned for the worse?"
"RACIAL PROFILING SHOULD BE A HATE CRIME INVESTIGATED BY THE FBI!!!" Perry concluded.
The Atlanta Police Department said in a statement to E! News that they have confirmed that Perry was involved in a traffic stop with two officers and that his claims, "as expressed by him publicly," have been referred to the department's Office of Professional Standards.
"OPS has opened an investigation to determine if Mr. Perry's claims can be substantiated, and whether any departmental policies or procedures were violated during the stop," police said
Magistrate orders arrest of journalists
No fewer than 13 journalists, who were in court to report a coroner’s inquest were harassed by policemen attached to the Area F Command on Wednesday afternoon after Magistrate A. A. Oshoniyi of an Ikeja Magistrate Court ordered their arrest for disturbing the court.
Their arrest was ordered after a female prosecutor, identified as Rose raised her voice and asked journalists who were along the court corridor to vacate the place.
An argument subsequently ensued between the prosecutor and the journalists as the latter urged the prosecutor to be civil in her approach.
Oshoniyi, whose attention was drawn by the argument, ordered the immediate arrest of the journalists.
“Do you know where you are at all? Oya, arrest them all. Go and lock up all of them!” the Magistrate said.
Following the magistrate’s order, a female police officer, Mariam Joseph, swooped on Wale Busari, a judiciary correspondent with Silverbird Television, grabbed him by the clothes, and attempted to drag him away.
His resistance from arrest led other judiciary workers in the area to clamp down on other journalists, which included Francis Iwuchukwu of Peoples Daily, Henry Ojeluh of PM News/The News, Yejide Gbenga-Ogundare of the Nigerian Tribune, Solomon Asowata of the News Agency of Nigeria and Akinwale Akintunde of Thisday.
Others were Yetunde Ayobami-Ojo of The Guardian, Nurudeen Oyewole of Daily Trust, Shola Shoyele, Channels Television; Gbenga Shoyele, Nigerian Compass; Ranti Thomas, Moment Newspapers; Bisi Onanuga, The Nation; and Yemi Adebanjo, News Star newspapers.
The camera of the Channels Television camera man, who was recording the incident got was seized.
The female prosecutor, who shouted at the journalists, later arrived at the scene in company with four armed police officers.
Without asking any question, the police officers swooped on the journalists, hitting them with gun butts and dragging them on the floor.
One of the police officers, Olakekan Ajayi, allegedly punched Wahab Abdullah of Vanguard newspapers after which some other policemen followed suit and assaulted other journalists.
Later, about 10 of the journalists were forced into a police bus with number plate Lagos XJ 812 Epe.
“Because you are journalists does not make you above the law.
“I will deal with you mercilessly,” Ajayi shouted, while punching Busari.
The police officers later took the journalists to Area ‘F’ Police Command where they were detained.
Meanwhile, following the intervention of the Court Registrar, Mr. Ganiu Safari, and officials of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ikeja branch, Police Area Commander, Mr. Noah Adesoyin, later released them.
The spokesperson for State Police Command, Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba, denied any police harassment.
He said, “If a magistrate gives an order, the police are bound by law to obey. What happens most times is that when people resist police arrest, a struggle can ensue and it may seem as if the person is being harassed. Policemen cannot just beat up innocent people.
“The Area Commander confirmed to me that he had intervened and all of them had been released.”

Maryland Mega Millions 'winner' appears, but mystery deepens

The Maryland Mega Millions mystery only got more confusing after a woman who claimed to be one of three winners of a record prize appeared with her lawyer -- and without the ticket.
"I have not seen the ticket, nor do I want to see the ticket," said attorney Edward Smith, as Marlinde Wilson, who was an hour late for the news conference, stood behind him. She did not speak.
"We believe it to be a legitimate claim," Smith continued. "When it is time to present the ticket or whatever it is that needs to be presented to the lottery commissioner, I am sure that we will be there."

Meanwhile, Maryland State Lottery Director Stephen Martino announced a 2 p.m. press conference on Thursday at which officials said he would discuss the "status of the winning ticket," among other things. Although scant information was given, that event will likely be more illuminating than the news conference Smith gave on Wednesday.
Smith lectured the media gathered in his cramped office and told them not to pester his client, who bought tickets for a pool of workers at a Baltimore-area McDonald's but claimed the winning ticket she holds was bought separately.
"God knows, by next week or next month, this will all be over and we will still be friends," Smith said.
Wilson, 37, earlier told the New York Post the winning ticket was stashed somewhere in the McDonald's restaurant where she works.
“I left my ticket there, and it’s somewhere safe that only I know about,” she told the newspaper through a Creole-speaking translator.
"I don't think she wants her 15 minutes of fame," Smith said. "We just want y'all to go home."
A Maryland Lottery spokeswoman told FoxNews.com that no one has claimed the record-setting prize as of Wednesday afternoon. Three winning tickets were sold in Maryland, Kansas and Illinois. Of those states, only the winner in Illinois must be identified.
Man sues after being restricted from passing out Bibles at gay pride parade

A man who has passed out Bibles at a Minnesota gay pride parade for years is suing after city officials restricted him from giving out the book at this year's event.
Brian Johnson, of Hayward, Wis., started handing out Bibles at the Twin Cities Pride Festival in 1995, and three years later, gave out the books in Minneapolis' Loring Park from a booth approved by parade organizers. But in recent years, the people behind the event, which draws as many as 300,000 people, have tried to oust him, first nixing his bid for a booth and then having him arrested in 2009.
Johnson, a taxidermist by trade and an evangelical by calling, sat out last year's event for fear of arrest, according to his attorney. But the legal wrangling has continued behind the scenes, and this year parade organizers, at the suggestion of a federal judge, designated "free-speech zones" on the Pride Festival grounds, where people like Johnson could distribute literature the organizers wouldn't otherwise approve.
Johnson and his attorney reject the policy, which is backed by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Johnson believes he not only has God on his side, but the Constitution, too.
A spokesperson for the city board said officials don't comment on pending litigation.
"Johnson believes that the Bible is God's word and sets out a plan of salvation for all people," his attorney wrote in a 26-page complaint filed in U.S. District Court of Minnesota. "Johnson believes the Bible teaches that all people are sinners and therefore deserve God's wrath, but anyone can receive salvation by believing and trusting in Jesus Christ."
Johnson was arrested for trespassing at the event in 2009, the first year he was denied a booth. The charges were later dropped. In 2010, the board, which enforces regulations at the 42-acre public park, granted Johnson permission to hand out Bibles. The parade organizers went to federal court to seek an injunction, which was denied by District Judge John Tunheim.
Although Johnson and his family went to the 2010 event and handed out Bibles without incident, the city agency and parade organizers were focused on a suggestion Tunheim had offered in a footnote of his denial of the injunction. For 2011, they set up the "free speech zones" that Tunheim thought would be a reasonable suggestion and a "drop box" where people could place literature.
Johnson skipped last year's event, but went to federal court on Friday to file a suit he hopes will give him unrestricted access to this year's event.
Dot Belstler, executive director of Twin Cities Pride, said Johnson is free to attend the festival and "tell everyone that Jesus loves them." But she said Johnson will not be allowed to hand out Bibles outside of the designated zones during this year's event on June 23-24.
"He has said his goal is to get everyone to know Jesus [and] he is allowed to do that," Belstler said. "[But] it's really kind of a nuisance.
Evicted 101-year-old Detroiter gets her home back

DETROIT – Baking cookies never seemed as sweet for 101-year-old Texana Hollis as it did on Wednesday, when she tearfully was allowed back into the home her husband bought after World War II following her eviction seven months ago.
Foreclosure initially forced Hollis from the home where she'd spent six decades of her life, then federal officials wouldn't let her move back in because of its dilapidated condition. That's when Detroit Free Press columnist Mitch Albom and his charity stepped in, and convinced volunteers and businesses to do the same.
"God bless everyone who had a hand in this," Hollis said, tears swelling in her eyes, after she reentered the home.
One of her first tasks: Trying out the new stove to bake sugar and chocolate chip cookies, which she lifted off a tinfoil-covered baking sheet using a new spatula and carefully placed into a tin.
Albom and his charities helped renovate Hollis' house after buying it from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Albom spent $30,000 — much of it out of his own pocket — on the project, and more than 100 volunteers spent months putting in new flooring, drywall, appliances and even a portion of the roof.
"I promised Texana that all she has to do is just stay alive and give us another 101 years," he said after pushing Hollis up a newly constructed wheelchair ramp and into the gleaming home. "She will never lose this house again."
When asked about the changes inside the house, where rooms were painted in soft shades of blue, green and yellow and decorated with welcoming bouquets of flowers, he jokingly answered: "It would probably be easier to tell you what's old."
Hollis was evicted Sept. 12 and her belongings placed outside after her son failed to pay property taxes linked to a reverse mortgage. HUD foreclosed on the home. Two days later, the federal agency said she could return — but then blocked her from moving in after an assessment determined the house was unsanitary and unsafe.
Hollis' son took out the reverse mortgage for the $32,000 assessed value of the property, an option that HUD permits for the elderly. HUD took control of the mortgage after the amount paid to the family exceeded the value of the house in 2006.
Nedal Tamer, whose construction business did much of the work, said the structure was in "terrible" condition but underwent a successful remodeling thanks to many businesses and individuals who stepped up. Guardian Alarm, for example, installed security and medical monitoring systems for free that typically cost around $750.
The result was emotional for everyone who watched as the happy centenarian returned to her home.
"God is so good," said Hollis, who is now looking forward to her next big day: Her 102nd birthday next month.
Zimbabwe: Nigerian Pays Woman U.S.$10 for Marriage of Convenience

A HARARE woman was paid US$10 to enter into a marriage of convenience with a Nigerian who wanted to secure a residence permit, a senior immigration official said yesterday.
Assistant Regional Immigration officer Mr Francis Mabika said another Nigerian put a local woman on a US$80 monthly salary for entering into a marriage of convenience.
A third Nigerian man married two local women.
Mr Mabika said the trio had since been arrested and still assisting police with investigations.
Silvester Nwaozuzu allegedly paid Erina Matindike, a Harare vendor-based at the courts, US$10 to enter into a marriage of convenience.
It is alleged that sometime in 2006, Matindike was approached by Barbara Mwanakanda who informed her that someone wanted to pay for a marriage of convenience.
Mr Mabika said Mwanakanda persuaded Matindike to wed Nwaozuzu at the Harare Magistrates' Courts.
In her affidavit, Matindike stated that she committed the crime out of desperation.
"I needed money so I agreed to sign the marriage certificate," she stated.
Two days later, Matindike stated, Nwaozuzu approached her asking for her life history in the event he was quizzed by immigration officials.
Matindike further stated that a few months later Nwaozuzu opened a bank account for her after promising to deposit money for her but later deposited Z$40 000 which lost value.
Matindike only managed to buy sweets for resale from her fee.
"Since 2006 Silvester (Nwaozuzu) would give me groceries and bus fare to travel to Chiweshe every Christmas," Matindike said.
She said Nwaozuzu later bought her a refrigerator.
"I confirm that my marriage to Silvester Nwaozuzu was fake and I no longer want to go against the law," Matindike stated in her affidavit.
The facilitator Mwanakanda was, in May last year, arrested for allegedly entering into a marriage of convenience with a Nigerian man while she was already married to a Zimbabwean soldier.
Mwanakanda married the Nigerian in 2006 to help him get a Zimbabwe residence permit.

In the second case, Jude Amaechi Eze married Felistas Dune (29) in March 2006 after the two agreed on US$30 fee.
After the "wedding" Eze reportedly started giving Dune a monthly salary of US$80 and the two were not staying together.
Eze is alleged to have even promised to buy Dune a house in Harare.
The woman was yesterday picked up for questioning at the immigration department.
Dune was reportedly influenced by her brother-in-law Lovemore Machuma to enter into the marriage of convenience with Eze.
On Tuesday, police arrested another Nigerian Hilary Uwaoma Ajaero for entering into marriages of convenience with two women - Fadzai Charity Mazuru and Greater Tariro Gwekwerere.
"Ajaero entered the country in September 2004 and wedded Fadzai Charity Mazuru (marriage certificate number 2256/04) before wedding again Greater Tariro Gwekwerere (marriage certificate number 2683/04) on October 20, 2004," he said.
According to Gwekwerere the two met in Belvedere in April 2004 and were in a relationship up until August 2008.
She said late in 2008, Ajaero phoned her while she was in Bulawayo saying he wanted her assistance with immigration issues.
"We went to his brother's shop along Robert Mugabe Road where I was made to sign some documents but I didn't know what they were for until last year in September," Gwekwerere said.
In September she heard rumours circulating that she was married and that is when she discovered that she had been duped into signing marriage certificates.
"I would like the marriage certificates to be terminated because I want to move on with my life. I never stayed with him or did anything married people do since I signed those papers," Gwekwerere said in her affidavit.
Gwekwerere said Mazuru; who is now married to another Nigerian, Gozie Nwudoh; met Ajaero along Cameroon Street in 2004.
At the time the two were attending the same church.
Mazuru said Ajaero asked her to marry him so that he would continue staying in the country.
The same year, Mazuru got married to Nwudoh and she went back to Ajaero to cancel the marriage certificate
Gunmen In Hummer Jeeps Kill 4 Policemen, Burn 2 Patrol Vehicles

Unidentified gunmen in two Hummer Jeeps have shot and killed four policemen in Oraifite community in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria.
The four policemen were on routine patrol in the area on Monday night when the incident happened.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that an inspector and eight other policemen had gone on routine duty at Emeka Offor Junction in the area at night when the gunmen opened fire on them.
An eye witness account said that some unidentified bandits operating in two Hummer Jeeps opened fire and killed four the policemen.
The witness said that the bandits later set fire on the two police patrol vehicles before taking the guns belonging to the dead and others, who ran away.
Confirming the incident, Mr Emeka Chukwuemeka, the Anambra Police Command spokesman, said three policemen were killed by the robbers.
He said that men of the command had swung into action to track down the fleeing hoodlums, adding that “we are making progress in catching up with the robbers.
“It is possible that the robbers sustained injuries because there was a serious gun battle between our men and the robbers but because nobody was seen from their side, people concluded that the police did not challenge the robbers,” Chukwuemeka said.
