Nigerian beaten to death in Malaysia‬

A week before his marriage, 35-year old Onochie Nwankwo was beaten to death at a condominium in Malaysia for allegedly trying to rape a cleaner.‬

‪Nwankwo was said to have hugged, kissed and showed the 43-year-old cleaner his private part.‬

‪Alarmed, she alerted the management of the condominium, which sent seven of its personnel to her rescue on the 15th floor. On their way, they met the cleaner running towards them.‬

‪Minutes later, Nwankwo came down to the ground floor where they caught him and beat him before tying him up and informing the police.‬

‪“When we arrived, we found him motionless,” ACP Abdul Rashid said, adding that police rushed him to a nearby clinic where he was pronounced dead.

Pension Scam: I Made $544, 000 Selling "Pure Water", Says Accused

One of the accused persons standing trial in the N14.5 billion Police Pension scam, Mrs. Veronica Ulonma Onyegbula, has told investigators the $544,632 (about N82 million) found in one of her companies, Ulover International Resources Limited, was realized from selling pure water which the company produces.

Mrs. Onyegbula stated that the company which was situated in Umuahia, the Abia state capital belonged to her mother whom she said suffered stroke seven years ago and as a result of that made her a member of the board of directors to enable her handle the finances of the company.

Part of the items recovered by operatives of the anti graft agency during a search at the woman’s home was bank statements belonging to Ulover International Resources Limited which she stated is engaged in the production of pure water.

In her statement issued to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as contained in the proof of evidence filed by the agency before the court where they are standing trial and dated 15th February, 2012, the accused stated that in the course of her job at the Police Pension Office, that she cashed a total of N14 billion on the instruction of the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Kigo and the Director, Mr. Esai Dangabar via cheques signed by both men.

She also stated that there was a subsisting Federal Government Circular which directed that withdrawals from the Police Pension Fund should be by way of e-payment to beneficiaries accounts but that despite this circular, that her bosses issued cheques in her name with which she accessed funds from the Police Pension Funds domiciled at a first generation bank, First Bank of Nigeria Plc.

She also stated that she handed over the monies as soon as she cashed the cheques from First Bank Plc.

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the court again on Tuesday for their bail applications to be heard

Dagrin's Documentary 'Remembering Dagrin' Set To Be Released

This April marks the second year anniversary of Dagrin’s death and to commemorate this, Gini the director of his only solo video, pon pon pon, is set to release an authoritative and informative documentary of the young rapper’s life.

The clip is over an hour long and combines both known and never-before-seen clips and images of Dagrin. It contains interviews with most of the persons that crossed the path of the young man and contributed to his rise to fame in the Nigerian music industry. It is a real time presentation that paints a perfect HD picture with excellent voice narration and sequencing.
The documentary seeks to further promote the works of the late rapper and act as a reference point for upcoming acts. It also aims to put an end to some of the mysteries which have surrounded the late young man’s death.

Aptly entitled,REMEMBERING DAGRIN, it comes under the auspices of Omoita Entertainment, an outfit founded by Gini who was much more than just a video director to Dagrin. “We were very good friends and he convinced me on his dreams and plans for his career and the Nigerian entertainment industry. Dagrin had plans of having his own crew made up of young artistes like him who are struggling through various adversities to make their voices heard. So OMOITA was created to also help artistes like him realize their dreams and carry on the dreams he had for Misofunyin Entertainment,” Gini said.

He also added that the name, “OMOITA,” came from Dagrin who was popularly known as the C.E.O (Chief Executive Omoita) which was the title of his 2009 sophomore album which contained the hit track, “Pon Pon Pon,” whose video, Gini directed. “Dagrin made me popular in the industry and I believe I owe him a duty to tell the real story behind some of his struggles that I witnessed. Not many people knew that we were already in the process of shooting the video of “Ghetto Dreams,” feat Sossick, the first track of the album, on the day Dagrin died.”

Gini whose real name is Abiodun Olayinka is a video director and Film Maker who has done a number of notable works in the entertainment industry.

Soon Ferrari will disocntinue the 599 as it ushers the new F12 Berlinetta into production, but until then the GTO holds its place as king of the hill. So before the ultimate incarnation of the 599 is swept off into retirement, Romeo Ferraris has developed a series of enhancements to the Ferrari flagship.

Given that Maranello has put just about everything it has into the 599 GTO, there wasn’t a lot of room to play around. So the tuner has released two small upgrades. Stage 1 encompasses a new air filter and exhaust for a 15-horsepower boost, while the Stage 2 kit remaps the ECU as well for 40-horsepower upgrade to bring overall output up to 710 hp – putting the final iteration of the 599 within spitting distance of its replacement’s 740 hp.

A series of extra carbon fiber components are also offered, but Romeo Ferraris apparently holds enough reverence for the donor cars to keep the modifications to a minimum.

Man caught and killed for planting bomb on tanker

A man was killed yesterday in Unguwar Mu’azu of Kaduna while attempting to plant a bomb on a petrol tanker parked along the busy Nnamdi Azikiwe Express Way.

Witnesses said that the yet-to-be identified bomber was disguised as a mad man. He was spotted carrying a carton containing explosives and was seen trying to plant it on a loaded tanker parked by the express way.

Unguwar Mu’azu, a suburb of Kaduna and located along Abuja-Kano road, is populated by mostly tanker drivers, who lift petroleum products from Kaduna refinery. Only the bomber and was killed and the petrol tanker was burnt down.

“The man, who disguised as a madman, came here (Unguwan Mu’azu) with a carton and kept it on top of a petrol tanker. Before he could turn, the carton felt on his legs, exploded and cut him into pieces. He was the only person that died. The petrol tanker was also burnt by the explosion,” a resident of the area, Bala Ibrahim, said.

Kaduna Police spokesperson Aminu Lawan, who confirmed the incident, said that the person who died in the explosion was the one suspected to be carrying the bomb.

“One person died in the incident. And the person that died is the one suspected to be carrying a carton with explosives. There were no other casualties. Security has been beefed up all over the place,” Lawan said.

Former student arrested in California college shooting that killed 7

Police in Oakland, California, took a 43-year-old former student at a small religious college into custody Monday after a shooting spree at the school that left seven dead and three wounded, the city's police chief said.

The motive behind the killings at Oikos University in East Oakland remained a mystery Monday night, Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan told reporters. Detectives had not yet questioned the suspect, identified as One Goh, and no charges had been filed, he said.

"With a case of this magnitude, with all the victims and witnesses and all the chaos, it's going to take a few days to put the pieces together," Jordan said.

The college, which caters to the Korean American Christian community, offers degrees in theology, music, nursing and Asian medicine, according to its website. Oakland Mayor Jean Quan said most of the victims appeared to be from the city's Korean-American community, and the city was working to find multilingual counselors to help survivor

"No American mayor wants to have this situation," she said. "It seems over the last decade, we've gotten used to seeing senseless mass killings like this, and we'll have to question the availability of guns and the need for other services in our community."

Gunfire erupted inside the single-story building that houses the private Christian college about 10:30 a.m. A witness, Brian Snow, said he was at a nearby credit union when shots rang out, "and it started getting chaotic."

"In Oakland, sometimes things like that happen, but it dies over," he said. But this time, he said, "I went outside and the cops were coming and like 'Don't move, don't move,' and it started getting chaotic ... a pedestrian came out with a bullet hole and I was like, 'Getting really crazy right now.' "

Lucas Garcia, who was teaching an English class at the college when the rampage began, told CNN affiliate KGO-TV that he counted about six gunshots from a nearby nursing classroom. Garcia said he heard someone yell, "He's got a gun," and he got his students out of the building while the gunfire continued.

Jordan said the relationship between the suspect and any of those shot remained unknown Monday night, as detectives combed over "a very bloody scene with lots of evidence."

"Initially, we were told he was in a classroom when he stood up and began shooting at the victims," Jordan said.

Several of the survivors, including the wounded, hid behind locked doors or desks as the shooting went on. The suspect took one of the victims' cars and drove off, but surrendered to police at a Safeway grocery in the Oakland suburb of Alameda a short time later, Jordan said.

California Gov. Jerry Brown, who served as Oakland's mayor from 1999 to 2007, called the killings "shocking and sad."

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and friends and the entire community affected by this senseless act of violence," Brown said in a statement issued by his office.

Since the announcement that Ellen DeGeneres would be the new spokesperson for JCPenney, the Emmy winner has been at the center of a campaign to boycott the retailer. Ellen addressed the "haters" head-on in the opening monologue of Wednesday's edition of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Ellen DeGeneres is firing back at a conservative interest group that launched a campaign to convince JCPenney (sometimes simply called Penney's) to drop the daytime gabber as a celebrity spokesmodel.

In case you aren't in-the-know, One Million Moms raised the ire of gay rights proponents last week, when it ordered its supporters to boycott the retailer following its appointment of the "openly gay" Ellen as the face of the clothing and household brand. The group, a division of the socially right-wing American Family Association, argued that Penney's was trying to gain a new target market by "jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon" with its hiring of one of the nation's best-known gay celebrities.

One Million Moms -- which also famously spoke out against the debut of the polygamist TLC soapSister Wives -- demanded that Ellen be replaced in a controversial posting to its website.

"Funny that JCPenney thinks hiring an open homosexual person will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families. Ellen broke her silence on the furor during a taping for Wednesday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She confessed that she normally prefers to avoid talking about such matters on her show. But this time she made an exception… just this once.

"Normally I try not to pay attention to my haters, but this time I'd like to talk about it because my haters are my motivators."

She poked fun at the One Million Moms group, but said she was "proud and happy" that the department store has stood by her in the face of the anti-gay campaign.

"This organization doesn't think I should be the spokesperson because I'm gay. For those of you who are just tuning in for the first time, it's true. I'm gay. I hope you were sitting down. "They [One Million Moms] wanted to get me fired and I am proud and happy to say that JCPenney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson," Ellen continued.

"Being gay or pro-gay isn't a bandwagon. You don't get a free ride anywhere. There's no music. And occasionally we'll sing 'We Are Family,' but that's about it," she joked.

DeGeneres then noted that the One Million Moms group only has " 40,000 members on their (Facebook) page. So they're rounding up to the nearest million and I get that."

Ellen, who is also an ambassador for CoverGirl cosmetics, pointed to other -- far more offensive -- celebrity spokesfolks that the organization could badger.

"I mean, if they have a problem with spokespeople, what about the Pillsbury Doughboy? He runs around without any pants on, basically begging for people to poke his belly. What kind of message is that?"

Alec Baldwin engaged to 28-year-old yoga instructor

Actor Alec Baldwin has popped the question to his girlfriend, a yoga instructor who is 26 years his junior.

The 30 Rock star has been dating 28-year-old Hilaria Thomas for about a year.

"Yes, it's true!" Baldwin's spokesperson told 3m360

"Alec proposed to Hilaria this weekend and we're all excited for the newly-engaged couple. Alec's birthday is tomorrow. Great way to celebrate!"

Baldwin turns 54 this week.

Adam Sandler is being awarded for all the wrong reasons. Over the weekend, the actor and comedian swept every category (all 10) at the Razzies. That's not a positive feat.

Scott Storch Sued -- He Was Too DRUGGED OUT to Produce My Album

Legendary hip hop producer Scott Storch is being sued by an aspiring singer … who claims she paid Storch a ton of money to produce her album … but he was too drugged out to get the job done.

The woman on the attack is Treena Ruberg … who claims Storch — who’s worked with superstars like Dr. Dre, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and more — agreed to produce 6 songs for Treena in exchange for $45,000 back in October 2011 … $30k of which she paid up front.

According to Treena’s lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Storch acknowledged he had a previous drug problem … but insisted he was now “cured of his past problem” and would be able to deliver the tracks by the end of November.

But Treena says Storch straight up lied … claiming he “continued to have a drug addiction and other personal problems which rendered him incapable of producing any recordings.”

Now, Treena says she wants her $30k back … plus an additional $70k for all of the out-of-pocket expenses she incurred during the process … including plane flights, studio time and having to hire another producer.

Calls to Storch’s rep have not been returned.

Evander Holyfield visits Ogoni land, advises Nigerian youth

Former Heavy Weight boxing champion and United states Peace Ambassador, Evander Holyfield has enjoined youths in the country to embrace hard work and shun temptations to become drug addicts.

Holyfield who spoke in Port Harcourt yesterday said he would visit oil spill sites in Ogoni area of the state as part of effort to draw attention to the environmental challenges in the Niger Delta region.

The heavyweight boxer who spoke glowingly of his mother during a brief interview with our Correspondent urged youths who had veered off the path of honour to retrace their steps for a positive change.

According to him, they should not despair because all hope was not lost. He recalled that before he got to the top there were times he missed his way but because of the assurances he got from his dear mother – that he could still make amends- he did several times.

KANYE WEST SUED $500,000 FOR UNAUTHORIZED USE OF SAMPLE ON A MIXTAPE

Less than one month after settling a sample lawsuit with Syl Johnson, Kanye West was served with a new copyright lawsuit. According to AllHipHop.com, the producer/emcee is being sued for $500,000 by The Persuaders’ Robert “Bobby” Poindexter.

The March 27 court filing accuses West of wrongfully using the 1970s New York R&B group’s “Trying Girls Out” for his 2006 Freshman Adjustment 2 mixtape, on the cover version of “Girls, Girls, Girls.” Curiously, the same sample was previously cleared the work with permission, for the Just Blaze production of the song on Jay-Z’s 2001 album, The Blueprint – an album West also worked extensively on.
