The idea that families come in all shapes and sizes has never been more true with adoption, same-sex relationships and the introduction of new ways to conceive.

Writer Samuel Leighton-Dore, 25, spoke to Mirror Online about his decision for his sister to have his child - and has opened up about the negative response it has received.

Samuel, from Sydney, is in a relationship with photographer and designer Bradley Tennant but doesn't want to miss out on their baby having both of their family's genes.

As a compromise, his sister Bronte has agreed to donate her eggs so that the couple can have the family they've always wanted.

Samuel told Mirror Online: "It's not too strange when you break it down. We'll be using IVF. It'll be my sister's egg and my partner's sperm with a third-party surrogate, preferably someone who already has a family of their own.

Mystery surrounds the death of a young Colombian model found completely naked on the street in front of her house.

Stephanie Magon Ramirez, 23, was found by a horrified neighbour in the Mexican capital of Mexico City.

At first the authorities suspected foul play, with reports she had been killed.

The president of the Superior Tribunal of the city, Edgar Elias Azar, said: "She suffered what appear to have been numerous blows, or in other words, she was beaten to death."

But then the death was labelled as an accident in a startling turnaround.

Investigators said new evidence had come to light indicating that she had fallen from the roof of her apartment building, crashing 40 feet to the ground, while drunk and high on drugs.

Counting per capita, Americans are however beaten by several nations. To surprise of many, it's Finland that receives the gold medal. With a total of 303 medals, and a population of 5.5 million in 2015, the Nordic country has won 2.3 medals per game, per million population, The Guardian has calculated.

Dutch cyclist in intensive care after fracturing her back in gruesome crash 6 miles from winning gold medal

Dutch cyclist Annemiek Van Vleuten had a comfortable lead in the women's Olympic road race just six miles shy of the finish line when she suffered an awful crash on a steep, slippery descent. She went head-over-handlebars and appeared to land headfirst on the road's curb.

After the race, the Dutch cycling federation announced the she had fractured her back in three places, and suffered a concussion from the crash. She will spend the night in intensive care.

A German reality TV model has appeared in court today over claims she falsely accused two men of rape - even though a video showed her saying 'no, stop it' during the sex. 

Gina-Lisa Lohfink, 29, is accused by the men - identified as Pardis Fardjad-Azad and Sebastian Pinto - of inventing rape allegations against them after they had a threesome.

When she appeared in court - and heard that the judge was going to play parts of a sex tape in public - she burst into tears and the process had to be interrupted for nearly 15 minutes. 

'It is really bad what is being done to me here,' she sobbed. 

The public prosecutor in Berlin believes her rape testimony was false in a case dating back to June 2012. 

As the judge looked at the sex video on a laptop, he turned to her and with the sound down Gina-Lisa shouted out: 'Sex with two men - I say I don't want that! Horny - OK, we'll watch more movies. It was bad what was done to me, sex with two men. You should cut their d***s off.'

When Pinto took the stand to testify, she left the court, saying she could not bear to see him.

He said he got to know her at a celebrity event. Then 'from 11pm on we were in my club Maxxim. In the meantime Pardis came in. She took him to her table.

'When I had finished work around 5am I got the message that they are waiting for me. Our night started around 6am or 7am. We had a fun threesome. Everything was filmed on my mobile phone.

The most chilling details from the recently found diary of the head of the Nazi SS

Thought to have been missing for 71 years, around 1,000 pages ofHeinrich Himmler's office diary have been recently discovered in a Russian military archive.

The entries, which are beingpublished by a German newspaper and in turn translated by the British press, contain personal insights into the life of the head of the SS in Nazi Germany.

In the excerpts, Himmler can be found to have started his days with two-hour massages with a doctor, followed by his murderous duties that shocked the world.

"The most interesting thing for me is this combination of doting father and cold-blooded killer," said Damian Imoehl, a journalist who assisted in finding the diary pages.

"One day he starts with breakfast and a massage from his personal doctor, then he rings up his wife and daughter ... and after that he decides to have 10 men killed," Imoehl told The Times of London.

Intricate details into the daily horrors of the Holocaust remain scant or casual, either intentionally or because of the fact that he may have had a void in his emotions.

Arriving at the European premiere of the film in London's Leicester Square, Smith said: "I'm 47. Do not hang out with 20-year-olds. Do not do it.

Flying Squad snatch 'machete robbery gang' after lying in wait outside London jewellers in posh Mayfair

The Flying Squad snatched a 'machete robbery gang' after lying in wait outside a posh London jewellers in a dramatic operation today.

Police confirmed their hero team - also known as The Sweeney - arrested four men as part of a pre-planned intelligence-led operation in Mayfair in central London this morning.

They said it was in order to thwart an alleged "smash and grab robbery at a jewellery store on Piccadilly, W1".

Four Flying Squad officers were injured during the arrest as four of the alleged gang "attempted to flee the scene on two mopeds".

One of the officers remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital after allegedly being run down during the operation.

Two axes, a knife and machete were all recovered at the scene.

The target was luxury watch store Chronext - where £500,000 of damage was caused.

No jewellery was thought to be taken during the incident. One report said police recovered stolen jewellery at the scene.

Former psychology professor sentenced to six years in prison for killing a man she says raped her

A former psychology professor, 41 year old Norma Patricia Esparza, was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday for the 1995 murder of the man she says raped her when she was a college student in California.
Esparza pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter two years ago in a deal with prosecutors.

In 1995, Esparza reportedly pointed out Gonzalo Ramirez at a bar to her former boyfriend Gianni Van and two others followed and rear-ended Ramirez in his vehicle, then attacked, kidnapped and killed him, dumping his body on the side of a road in Irvine, authorities said.

Ramirez's body was found by the road in Orange County.

Esparza moved to France, received a doctorate in psychology and worked as a consultant for the World Health Organization and as a professor in Switzerland.
