Manchester United legend Alex Ferguson WOULD return if they opt to axe Louis van Gaal this season
Sir Alex Ferguson is waiting in the wings ready to help Ryan Giggs if Louis van Gaalloses his job, writes Steve Bates in the Sunday People.
Although the now 74-year-old Ferguson, who retired as Manchester United's manager in 2013, has no desire to return to the dugout, Sunday People Sport understands he WOULD be prepared to take a hands-on role behind the scenes to help fellow club legend Giggs, currently Van Gaal's No 2, navigate the remainder of the season if the Welshman was given the reigns.
Van Gaal faces another crucial moment in his United career at Anfield on Sunday, with many believing he won't be able to carry on if his stars suffer a heavy defeat at arch-rivals Liverpool.

5 countries dump more plastic into the oceans than the rest of the world combined
The planet’s seas are choking on our junk: soda bottles, plastic bags and tons of cigarette butts. Distant spots in the ocean — called garbage gyres — have become vortexes where humanity’s trash bobs atop the water for miles on end.
Worse yet, the filth floating on the surface accounts for only 5 percent of all the plastic trash dumped into the sea. According toOcean Conservancy, a US environmental nonprofit, the other 95 percent is submerged beneath, where it strangles underwater creatures and wrecks the aquatic ecosystem.
It turns out that five countries are the leading contributors to this crisis. And all are in Asia.

He wrote of a city where a person's appearance could get him or her arrested if it's not in line with ISIS rules, where people are forced to attend indoctrination classes at mosques, and where residents have become so desensitized to airstrikes that they no longer bat an eye at them.
Many Syrians vowed to stay after the start of the country's civil war in 2011. For the past five years, rebels have been fighting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who has been known to commit atrocities against civilians as he tries to hang onto power. Jihadist groups have also moved into Syria to take advantage of the power vacuum that has opened up amid the chaos.

Adolf Hitler 'faked his death then fled to Tenerife' CIA veteran claims
A veteran CIA agent claims to have proof Hitler faked his own death in his bunker at the end of the Second World War.
The team have used a collection of never-before-seen documents to develop the theory that Hitler did not actually kill himself and instead fled to the Canary Islands.
Veteran CIA agent Bob Baer said: "The narrative the government gives us is a lie. if you look at the FBI files it throws open the investigation.
"What we are doing is re-examining history, history that we thought was settled that Hitler died in the bunker but the deeper we get into it, it's clear to me we don't have any facts for it."
Mr Baer's team have access to 700 pages of newly declassified information.
One document states: "American Army officials in Germany have not located Hitler's body nor is there any reliable source that Hitler is dead."
The team claim Hitler 'easily' faked his own death through the use of a double, as the corpse found by Russians was said to be five inches shorter than Hitler and with a smaller skull.
