A 40-year-old man, Henry Nnamdi, is in the police custody for allegedly killing his toddler son.
The suspect is also being held for attempted murder as he allegedly inflicted grievous wound on his wife over suspicion that the wife is involved in extra-marital affairs with his father.
The incident happened on April 8, 2012 at 3, Lambe Street, Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos.
It was gathered that the suspect used a hot pressing iron to inflict degrees of injuries on his wife’s breasts and other parts of her body in his bid to “rid” her of adultery.
The suspect also allegedly used other dangerous weapons to inflict injury on his wife, which caused her to go into a coma.
Thinking that she had died, the suspect was said to have pounced on his son, slammed him to the wall, killing him instantly.
He was said to have locked his wife in their one room apartment and fled the scene of the incident with the dead son.
The suspect was later arrested and the corpse of the toddler recovered.
The case has been transferred to the Homicide Department at Panti, Yaba, Lagos for thorough investigation.
Sources, who do not want to be quoted, said the suspected jealous husband did not just stop at wounding his wife as his anger was turned on his son whom he killed following allegation that his wife had the boy for another man.
Mrs. Nnamdi has since been taken to the Evolution Hospital, Okota.
She is said to be in a critical condition and would need urgent surgeries to keep her alive.
