How to download your data from Instagram

How to download your data from Instagram

Now Facebook has been forced to admit to funny business with its users’ data, other social media sites are feeling the pressure too. And now Instagram has started allowing people to download a copy of their data just like Facebook did. So how can you see exactly what you’ve shared with Instagram throughout your membership?

Here’s how it’s done… Knowing everything Instagram has on you might give you peace of mind (Picture: Getty) The good news is that tour Instagram photos, videos, comments, past searches, direct messages, Stories in your archive and profile information will be available to export. The bad news is that it may take up to 48 hours. Once downloaded, the data will be sent to the email connected to your account in a file, in a Microsoft Excel, Web, Notes or Text format, that will be available through a link.

Comments and likes on others’ posts are also included in the download, as is the username of those posts’ owners which is public information.

How to apply for your Instagram data Open Instagram Head to the Privacy and Security page in the settings section Scroll down to Get a Copy of What You’ve Shared on Instagram Enter the email you want the data to be sent to and make sure it’s correct, then hit Next You will be notified that the data has started downloading and that it may take a while to get to your Inbox Check your email Inbox periodically until the data email arrives, and if it doesn’t arrive contact Instagram
