Police: Dalton teacher in custody after reports of shots fired at school

Authorities have taken a teacher into custody after reports of someone opening fire inside a Dalton school.


It happened at Dalton High School. According to police, officers responded to reports of a shot or shots fired at the school early Wednesday afternoon.


Police said on Twitter they had a barricaded subject inside a classroom, and they had evacuated the school. Not long after, police said a teacher was in custody.

One student suffered an ankle injury while running in the school during the evacuation and received treatment, according to Dalton Police.

Police stressed that no other students were injured. Those students have been taken to the Northwest Georgia Trade Center.
