Tyson Fury cleared for return as British boxing chiefs lift former world heavyweight champion's ban - but there's a catch

Tyson Fury has cleared another hurdle as he plots a return to the ring after the suspension on his licence was lifted.

The former world heavyweight champion hasn't boxed since defeating Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.

But he will now target a ring return in April or May - and a future showdown with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua - subject to receiving medical clearance.

A statement from the British Boxing Board of Control read: "Following an interview with Tyson Fury at the British Boxing Board of Control offices earlier today, the suspension of his British Boxing Board of Control boxer's licence will be lifted subject to recepit and clearance of all medical requirements.

Fury was last month given the green light to resume his career by UK Anti-Doping after being handed a back-dated two year ban.

He was provisionally suspended in summer 2016 having failed a drugs test nine months before he beat Klitschko.

Fury is currently training in Marbella as he bids to lose up to nine stone having ballooned in his absence.
