Eric Lefkofsky: One Of The Most Unique Entrepreneurs Of Our Time
Eric Lefkofsky is a Jewish-American entrepreneur who is the co-founder and CEO of Tempus. It was his desire to help people who suffer from cancer that motivated him to take part in Tempus, which is a company that has made it its mission to change the way that cancer is dealt with. They are continuing to do so and have already done so by creating a database of information that draws from the treatment of previous cancer patients. In doing so, new patients can receive better focused treatment because their physicians have the kind of information in their hands that allows them to make decisions based on solid scientific data rather than taking shots in the dark.
How Eric Lefkofsky Makes Chicago A Better Place
Eric Lefkofsky calls Chicago his home, and he actively takes part in programs, organizations, and other efforts that aim to make Chicago a better place. He is a Trustee of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, which is a premier non-profit ensemble theater located in Chicago that relies on the support of the community. Mr. Lefkofsky is also on the board of directors for a spread of Chicago-based organizations and programs, and some of these include World Business Chicago, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Science and Industry, and the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. To honor his hometown, he worked very hard by joining the committee to help make Chicago the location of the Summer Olympics in 2016. To top all of this off, he is an Adjunct Professor that teaches entrepreneurship and how to build tech based businesses at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
The Lefkofksy Family Foundation
Most people would stop giving back to the world at the place where Eric Lefkofsky begins. While what he has helped to accomplish with his support of Chicago-based organizations has been tremendous, he does so much more. In 2006, his wife, Liz, and himself created The Lefkofsky Family Foundation (LFF), which is a private charitable foundation that aims to make sure that education is a right of everyone, that all people have basic human rights, that the arts and culture flourish, and that medical research is funded so that people can receive the quality healthcare they deserve. Both Eric and his wife donate their time and money in support of the different organizations that the charity singles out. There are too many organizations to name that have been helped by LFF, but some of them include The Aspen Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Medical Missions for Children, and the Young Women's Leadership Charter School.
An Author and Entrepreneur Who Has Been There and Done That
Eric Lefkofksy is also a writer and an author, and he authored the book, "Accelerated Disruption," where he covers disruptive businesses and how aspiring entrepreneurs can turn their ideas into real-world companies that can turn an industry upside down. In his book, he talks about how to choose the right industry to disrupt, how to use pain points to an advantage, how to promote ideas when there is resistance, and much more. Entrepreneurs who dream of success would be wise to listen to Mr. Lefkofsky's advice, because he has earned billions of dollars through the companies he has been a part of forming, himself. This, along with his philanthropic endeavors has made Eric Lefkofsky one of the most unique entrepreneurs of his time.
