The hermit state has now developed a “very significant level” of nuclear development, according to Thae Yong Ho, North Korea’s former deputy ambassador to the UK.
Thae, who became the country’s highest-profile defector when he fled his North Korean London embassy to South Korea, issued the terrifying warning yesterday.He said: “[Kim] is desperate in maintaining his rule by relying on his nuclear weapons and ICBM.
“Once he sees that there is any kind of sign of a tank or an imminent threat from America, then he would use his nuclear weapons with ICBM.”
The sabre-rattling dictator has been condemned across the globe for his development of nuclear weapons and inter-continental ballistic missiles.
These missiles could theoretically reach the US mainland, putting Western seaboard cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle within reach. At present it is believed Kim Jong-un has nuclear weapons but does not possess the ability to send them over long distances.
This, Thae warned, could change in the near future. He said: “[North Korea] has reached a very significant level of nuclear development. They have the nuclear capability — they've demonstrated that.
“And then, where they're going with the miniaturisation of that, whether they can actually weaponise a missile, that's what's driving the current concern."
Thae warned the world to prepare for such a Doomsday scenario - which he said could lead to devastation.
He said the only solution would be to assassinate Kim before it is too late. He warned: “If Kim Jong Un has nuclear weapons and ICBMs, he can do anything. So I think the world should be ready to deal with this kind of person.
