Police shoot dead dad as he tried to stab man who 'raped his eight-year-old daughter' at migrant camp

Iraqi father shot dead after he tried to stab an asylum seeker accused of raping his daughter
A father has been shot dead by police in a Germany migrant camp after trying to stab a man accused of raping his eight-year-old daughter.
Police were in the process of arresting the 27-year-old suspect when the girl's enraged father allegedly came running at him with a knife shouting: "You will not survive this".
Eyewitnesses say the man was then shot at more than once by officers and he died inhospital a short while later, where he was identified as the girl's 29-year-old father, from Iraq.
The alleged incident happened at an asylum centre in the German capital of Berlin while the alleged rapist from Pakistan was being taken to a patrol car in handcuffs.
He was handed over to a detention centre following the shooting .
According to local media, a special unit that deals with sexual crimes will investigate if the alleged rape of the eight-year-old really happened.

They wrote that according to witnesses the Pakistani migrant is said to have lured the child on Tuesday evening to a nearby park to sexually abuse her.
In many German asylum centres women and children fear sexual abuse and violence.
According to a recent report in a German daily, 128 abuse cases were registered at asylum centres in January, February and March alone.
Fire department spokesman Uwe Kubusch, 50, told local media that they found the father with multiple gunshot wounds and immediately brought him to the local hospital.
He said that shortly afterwards, the man died from his wounds.
Head police Commissioner Valeska Jakubowski said that the police force's homicide team are currently investigating the case.

She said: "That is the usual course after gunfights."
The German police union has warned against judging the officials for using their firearms.
Berlin regional chairman of the union, Bodo Pfalzgraf, said that some media were already doubting whether or not it had been legal for the cops to use their guns
He sai: "The police officers have to prevent self-administered justice and a life-threatening situation for them.
"The police did not want to kill, but if they have no other operational resources, they will do it."
Pfalzgraf was referring to the fact that the killing could have been prevented if the police had been equipped with tasers.
Berlin police have been trialling the weapons at two police stations.
