England star Raheem Sterling is subjected to vile abuse on Instagram after posting a photo of his four-year-old daughter's first day at school

Abuse: Disgruntled fans called Raheem Sterling a snake when he posted a photo of his daughter Melody on Instagram

Footballer Raheem Sterling has been subjected to vile abuse on Instagram after posting a picture of his daughter's first day at school.
The Manchester City winger shared a photo of his four-year-old Melody, dressed in her new school uniform, and it attracted a barrage of insulting comments.
Disgruntled fans labelled Sterling, 21,  a snake on the popular photo app, after he shared the cute picture with the caption 'First day at her new school #MelodyRose'.

He also shared a picture of Melody with himself and her mother but after the photo became a target for further abuse, he deleted it.
The lightening quick attacker posted the pictures after representing his country in England's World Cup Qualifier against Slovakia on Sunday night.
Sterling enraged Liverpool fans when he left Anfield for Manchester City in a high profile £48million move, with many seeing the transfer, which saw the star earn £150,000-a-week, as betrayal.

However, not all supporters have joined in on attacking the Premier League star - with many criticising others for their insensitive and offensive comments on Instagram.
One poster wrote: 'It's pathetic people are commenting snakes etc [sic] on a picture of his daughter. How sad can you actually get.'
While another wrote: 'Everyone, come on it's his daughter's first day at school, leave the man in peace. Just because he's gone to City doesn't mean he needs to be abused 24/7.'

This is not the first time Sterling or his family have had to endure such abuse on social media.
As news of his move to Manchester was revealed last year, the winger's girlfriend Paige Milian was subjected to waves of insulting messages with around 5,000 sent to her Instagram page.
Among some of the sinister comments were even death threats and racial abuse.
