Top 5 tips from the #MakeYourBreak entrepreneurial workshop

DIGIFY AFRICA

Youth digital marketing agency Livity Africa and the Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development partnered to empower the agency’s former and current trainees from their DigifyPRO and LiveMag programmes with business tips. Here are the top 5 from that came out of the workshop:

1. Trust yourself and your idea
When you believe in your idea and have confidence in yourself,  you will grab opportunities without doubting your ability to succeed. Make sure that you sell yourself in every way and understand that taking risks is part of what makes you grow as an entrepreneur.
2. Have a vision
Your goals might seem too distant to achieve but the effort that you put into planning and setting a clear vision will get you there. Your vision is just as important as the goals you set. Goals need to be descriptive and simple to understand. It helps to have a vision board with all the steps it will take for you to takes to achieve your goals.
3. 8-year-old philosophy
If you can’t explain it to an 8-year-old kid, then it’s not simple enough. Never tell people about the nitty-gritty of how your business works; show them how they will benefit instead. Remember that people want to know what's in it for them before anything else. You need to answer this question clearly.
4. Feedback is critical
It’s important that you learn to take feedback, even from people who may be critical of your idea. This will help you move in the right direction.
5. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change
Instead of complaining about working extra hours or on a weekend, change your perception into thinking of the ways it helps you. Opportunities will always be out of reach when you keep walking the same direction. However,  once you decide to take a different direction, you’ll see some things differently.
