Syrian refugee kills pregnant woman and injures others after hacking at passersby in street

Syrian refugee kills woman and injures others with machete in Reutlingen Germany
A pregnant woman is dead and at least two others are injured after a machete-wielding Syrian refugee allegedly attacked passersby on a German street.
The 21-year-old randomly hacked at terrified members of the public with the 12-inch blade in the city of Reutlingen this afternoon, it is reported.
A mum-to-be was killed in the horrific rampage near a kebab stand, while at least two others suffered unspecified injuries, according to local media.
The bearded refugee, described as 'completely out of his mind', was only stopped when a brave BMW driver apparently ploughed into him.
He was arrested by cops as he lay 'motionless' on the pavement. Police have since said there is 'no indication' he was linked to terrorism.

Photos of the scene show the man lying on his side, with a bloodied face. Armed cops can be seen standing above him, resting their boots on his body.
The motive behind the attack at the Listplatz Square remains unclear, according to Germany's Bild and Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspapers.
However, some reports say the suspect attacked the pregnant woman with the machete after an argument developed between them.
This evening, police said the man is a Syrian asylum seeker who had been involved in previous incidents causing injuries to other people.
A spokesman had no immediate information on when the suspect arrived in Germany, nor when the previous incidents took place.

However, he said he apparently acted alone in today's attack, which took place close to a kebab stand in a city bus station.
"There is no danger to anyone else at this time," the official told Reuters.
In a statement, police added that 'given the current evidence, there is no indication that this was a terrorist attack'.
According to The Algemeen Dagblad (AD), passersby fled in fear as the refugee lunged at them with the machete during the shocking attack.
He continued to 'run around' with the blade until the BMW driver crashed into him, knocking him onto the pavement, it is reported.
There, the man lay motionless until he was arrested.
The incident occurred shortly before 4.30pm local time (3.30pm UK time).

An eyewitness told Bild the suspect appeared 'completely out of his mind' and even ran behind a police car as he targeted passersby.
“Someone driving a BMW then accelerated and ran him over. He lay on the ground and did not move," they said.
The female victim is believed to have worked in the kebab shop. According to Bild, she was pregnant when she was hacked to death.
The killing comes two days after an 18-year-old lone gunman shot dead nine people and injured more than 30 in a shopping mall in Munich.

In the earlier incident, the teenager, identified as Ali David Sonboly, opened fire on bystanders at a McDonald's restaurant in the German city.
He carried out the massacre on Friday evening - the fifth anniversary of Anders Breivik's twin attacks in Norway, which claimed the lives of 77 people in July 2011.
Seven of those killed were teenagers, like Sonboly.
