A shocking crime has the entire town of Scranton, Pennsylvania, scratching their heads. An 18-year-old new mom named Kayla VanWert died at the hospital Sunday night from stab wounds.
Police claim that she was killed by a 16-year-old girl named Cathleen Boyer. Cathleen has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence.
According to a police report, Cathleen stabbed Kaylat in the neck and chest just before 10 p.m. Sunday.
The police report says Kayla and Boyer were in a heated argument on Facebook, reportedly over Kayla’s baby’s father.
Kayla then left her home to confront Cathleen who allegedly stabbed Kayla in the neck and chest, and the knife broke. Detectives later found pieces of a broken knife in the alley.
Kayla died at Regional Hospital, just two blocks away.
Police say that after stabbing Kayla, Cathleen logged onto Facebook and confessed — she wrote: “I’m wrong I’ll admit it… Got to face the consequences… No remorse.”
