'Super baby' born weighing a huge 14lbs and measuring 54cm long leaves mum and doctors stunned
This incredible image shows a newborn baby who has tipped the scales at an incredible 14LBS.Olivia, who was born by caesarean section, has been termedthe "super baby"- and measures 54cm in length at just a few hours old.
Her weight - three times as much as a Chihuahua - is a new record at the Cipolletti Clinic in the southern Argentine province of Rio Negro.Local media reports that Olivia is under supervision but is healthy.
Her mother, Maria Fernanda Basly, is also in good health and said all she wants now is the all clear to leave the clinic with herheavyweight new arrival.
Despite the baby being a record in the region, according to the Guinness World Book of Records the record for the heaviest baby in the world is shared.
Canadian woman Anna Haining Bates, who herself was a massive 7ft 11 in, gave birth to an unnamed baby boy weighing a whopping 22 lbs.
The baby, like his mother, was also very large, measuring 71.12 cm.
Her baby was not officially named and sadly died 11 hours after it was born back in 1879.
The other infant who shares the record is the considered to be heaviest baby born to a healthy mother.
Weighing 22 lbs 8 oz, he was born to Carmelina Fedele from Aversa, Italy, in 1955.
