Convict admits killing mom in violent attack just days after completing 30-year sentence for murder BY LAURIE HANNA
A convicted New Jersey murderer has admitted killing his mother just two days after being released from serving a 30-year sentence for killing a neighbor.
Steven Pratt, from Atlantic City, pleaded guilty to the death of mom Gwendolyn Pratt in a violent attack two years ago.
"I don't want a trial. I'm guilty,” Pratt said as he confessed to his mother's death, according to Fox 32 News.
The 47-year-old must serve 85% of a 25-year prison sentence for the manslaughter on Oct. 12, 2014.
An autopsy found that she died from massive blunt-force head injuries.
The deadly incident took place inside his mother's house in Atlantic City, N.J.

Family and friends had thrown him a large welcome-home party to celebrate his release before the killing.
Pratt's first stint in prison stemmed from a 1984 shooting in which authorities said the then-15-year-old blasted his neighbor in the face and shoulder after a dispute in the Carver Hall apartments.
He was tried as an adult and convicted of murder in 1986.
