Spanish town hosts 'clitoris festival' after translation blunder

AWKWARD: The Spanish food festival turned X-rated
They meant to invite locals in Galicia, Spain to a food festival – but the event turned X-rated thanks to an embarrassing mix-up.
The annual event in the region of celebrates rapini – a popular leafy vegetable similar to spinach.
But Google Translate confused the Galician word for rapini – 'grelo' – with Portuguese slang meaning clitoris.

This meant the website promised prizes to bemused locals for the best clitoris recipes.
It also claimed: "The clitoris is one of the typical products of Galician cuisine.
"Since 1981, the festival has made the clitoris one of the star products of the local gastronomy."

FURIOUS: Monserrat Garca blamed Google for the mix-up
Furious town hall spokeswoman Monserrat Garca took aim at Google for their "very serious error".
She added: "We are thinking about making an official complaint for Google to properly recognise the Galician language so this kind of thing doesn't happen again."
The festival – which promotes regional products rather than the female anatomy – is set to take place next February.
More than 2.4 million people speak Galician, which is closely related to Portuguese.
