Game of Thrones Spoilers, Delayed Premiere Date

As the title of this article suggests, there are some spoilers ahead so, if you don’t want to know anything about the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, look away now.
If you are a regular viewer, you will know that the last season ended with some questions. Of course, the biggest surrounds Jon Snow and whether he is dead or alive but people were also wondering if Brienne of Toth actually went through with killing Stannis Baratheon. According to HBO, the answer is yes.
Once a character with great promise, the brother of Renly and King Robert, did actually die by the blade of Brienne’s sword which, if I’ll admit, is a bit disappointing. Considering the fact that he was leaning against a tree, mortally wounded and utterly resigned, it hardly feels honorable to kill a man in that position but what do I know?
For those who are counting down the days until Game of Thrones returns, you may have to wait a little longer than usual. It would appear from the announced HBO schedule that GirlsTogetherness and Martin Scorsese’s new show, Vinyl, are taking up a lot of space. In fact, the latter is in Game of Throne‘s timeslot (Sundays at 9pm) and begins on February 14, 2016.
If we go by a typical season, Vinyl won’t be finished in time for GoT to premiere as it typically does in April. There has been no response to questions about what this all means (which is especially odd since Girls usually picks up in January but only begins next year in February, also) so they are leaving it up to speculation.
Of course, it’s entirely possible that they have some grand plan in place and will make this all a smooth transition. Surely, they want to give Martin Scorsese’s show the best start imaginable and I doubt very highly that they would put their cash cow, Game of Thrones, in jeopardy.
Are you looking forward to the upcoming season? This last one was so controversial and the backlash about how the plot differed from the books (and all of the rape scenes) really made me question whether I would be watching in the future. The one saving grace for me is that I have to find out what happens to Jon Snow. He better not be dead…
