This is the professor who was tragically shot dead on a Mississippi university campus earlier today.
A local coroner named the victim as Ethan Schmidt, an assistant professor of history who recently published his second book.
The professor was based in Jobe Hall, where the first reports of a gunman on campus originated from.
Murray Roark, a deputy coroner in Bolivar County, confirmed that the professor was shot in the head in his office.
Don Allan Mitchell, a colleague, called Schmidt "a gentleman in every sense of the word" and "a terrific family man".
Everyone please be safe on campus and say a prayer for Dr. Schmidt
- Prayers are with DSU this morning. May God give peace to the students and Dr. Schmidt and his family.
