Young EMT dies trying to save woman's life after severing her own artery and suffering four strokes after frantically performing CPR

A young EMT has died from a series of strokes she suffered after trying to save another woman's life.
Samantha Agins, 22, started to perform CPR on the patient at the New Jersey summer camp Jaycee on Sunday after she suffered a heart attack.
The 22-year-old aspiring physician's assistant from Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, hooked her up to a defibrillator and, despite her best efforts, the woman didn't make it.

Later that evening the East Stroudsburg University Senior was taken to the Ponoco Medical Center where doctors informed the family she had severed an artery while performing the medical procedure.
She had suffered the first of four strokes earlier that evening, but was still responsive.
Her mother Paula initially thought she was in shock after trying to save her first patient.
After the ambulance came to take the woman away, Miss Agins lay down and threw up, but was still responsive, according to the Pocono Record.
Her mother took her home in case the coroner wanted to speak to her - but it was then that she started to show the symptons.
Mrs Agins told the Record: 'That’s when she had another mini stroke. She wasn’t as responsive as the first time, but I could take her home.'The East Stroudsburg University Senior was taken to the Ponoco Medical Center where doctors informed the family she had severed an artery while performing the medical procedure. Early on Monday she suffered a major stroke and was taken to Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia.
Doctors but her on life support, and by Sunday she had began to suffer from locked-in syndrome and on Monday she slipped into a coma.
Just 24 hours later she passed away.
The hashtag #PurpleHeartsforSam is also being used on social media, created by one of her younger sisters.
A memorial scholarship for seniors at Pocono Mountain East High School, where she graduated from, is being set up in Agin’s name
