Six people appear in court over the death of schoolgirl Becky Watts, 16, including her stepbrother and his girlfriend who are charged with her murder

Six people have appeared before a judge charged in connection with the murder of teenager Becky Watts.
Becky, 16, vanished from her family home in Crown Hill, Bristol, on February 19 and was reported missing the following day.

Police launched a huge search, which led to Becky’s body parts being discovered at a house in Barton Hill, Bristol, on March 2.
Becky’s stepbrother, Nathan Matthews, 28, was later charged with her murder, alongside his girlfriend Shauna Hoare, 21.
The couple were also charged with perverting the course of justice, conspiracy to commit false imprisonment, preventing Becky’s lawful burial and possessing a prohibited weapon.
Karl Demetrius, 29, Donovan Demetrius, 29, Jaydene Parsons, 23, and James Ireland, 23, were charged with assisting an offender.
All six defendants appeared before Judge Neil Ford QC, the Recorder of Bristol, for a hearing at Bristol Crown Court. Matthews and Hoare appeared via a video link.
The court heard a trial date has been set for October 6 in court room one, with proceedings expected to last for up to five weeks.
The hearing was attended by a large number of Becky’s family and friends, including her birth mother, Tania Watts, brother Daniel and grandmother Pat.
Becky’s father Darren was also flanked by his wife, Anjie, Becky’s uncles, Sam and Joe Glasworthy, and Sarah Broom, Becky’s aunt.
Members of the defendants’ families also packed into the crowded court room.

Matthews, of Warmley, South Gloucestershire, Hoare, of Bristol, Karl Demetrius, of Bristol, and Ireland, of Avonmouth, were remanded in custody.
Parsons, of Bristol, and Donovan Demetrius, of Bristol, were released on conditional bail.
Becky disappeared from her father Darren Galsworthy’s home in St George, Bristol, on February 19 this year.
He reported her missing the following afternoon and police issued their first public appeal three days after she was last seen.
Avon and Somerset Police launched a huge search operation involving six police teams and Becky’s distraught family made emotional public appeals for her to return home.
In the following days forensics officers searched a number of properties, including her family home and two others. 
Becky’s body parts were discovered in a nearby house on Monday 2 March - 11 days after she was reported missing.
