A show that will go down in the history books as one of the best, the MTC Independence Concert on Saturday was ablaze with exhilarating performances from Trey Songz, South African Afro-fusion band Stimela and the Namibian artists who shared the stage with them.
With the Brave Warriors' first Cosafa Cup win on the same day, there was an unmistakeable festive and patriotic spirit amongst the revellers who packed the Independence Stadium. From newcomers like Kalux to seasoned performers like Gazza, the performances were all show-stopping with a responsive crowd giving encouragement and at times asking for more.
Headlining the show, Trey Songz was the star of the night as expected. Belting out his biggest hits like 'Slow Motion ' and 'Can't Help But Wait ', he had his fans screaming in excitement.
The American R&B crooner also had a surprise up his sleeve as he revealed his new song 'About You', which he performed for the first time on Saturday.
Showing his love for Namibia, he underwent a wardrobe change, donning a gift from Angolan-based Namibian fashion designer Easter Leah Manasse - a black and white shirt sporting the Namibian flag.
The star later tweeted his gratitude for the love he received from Namibians, saying "Namibia, I love you. Thank you for making me feel so welcomed in your country. I will never forget tonight, ever!".
For the more mature crowd, Stimela had a different sound and were as entertaining as they have been throughout the decades.
Speaking to The Namibian yesterday, Sula Kyababa, who was one of the main organisers of the event, was notably proud of the show as well as the turnout.
