The actor took to Twitter, March 19 to tell the world to lay off Eva Mendes, 41, after she came under fire for her comments about sweatpants being the number one cause of divorce. Ryan, 34, claims she’s joking and that she wears sweatpants all the time, do you buy it?

Eva was chatting with Extra‘s AJ Calloway about life as a new mommy to her baby girl, Esmeralda. That’s when AJ asked how Eva keeps her relationship with Ryan hot despite the 3 am feedings and lack of sleep!
“You can’t do sweatpants… ladies, number one cause of divorce in America, sweatpants, no!”
As soon as the words left her mouth she made headlines for being insensitive and making women feel insecure. That’s when Ryan told the world that Eva was totally joking.
Eva also posted a pic of her favorite pair of sweats to her Instagram with this caption:
“Dear favorite pair of sweatpants. I was just kidding when I said you’re the #1 cause of divorce. Everyone knows that orange crocs are the #1 cause of divorce. Either way it was a bad joke and feel terrible if you or anyone thought I was serious. Thanks for understanding sweatpants. Sorry orange crocs.”
